In these days people can't wait to label bands "washed up" you'd think Halen's promo machine would at least not take such a risk as this. All I can say (one more time) is this better be an awsome release. Eddie appears to change his mind a lot. And he was led down the steaming path of bullshit by one Ray Danniels, who is no longer in the picture. Keep in mind that this year started out with Dave just ending a solo tour and Ed recovering from hip surgery. It's very unlikely that they were even in the studio as early as some of the rumors would have suggested, like that fucking idiot at Slawterhouse who will remain nameless - (trust and respect my ass)

By now I'm sure the album is completely in the can. It will be released in February because that is a perfect time to begin promoting the record and have it well known by the time of summer tour season (uh, for us non Aussies anyway). It seems as though Journey might be borrowing the strategy as well, since it's already been established that their album is done, and on Napster. You've been saying that for a year -- and still no news from Van Halen. Quite sad, actually. I was the biggest fan of Van Halen you'd probably every meet. But I wised up. A pure shit album, losing a 3rd singer, and getting back the first one that cant sing anymore and has 'atmosphere' with Eddie just isn't what I call "the real Van HALEN/THE tour of 2001"

That would seem to be a logical reason there has been no word on things because they'd look like genuine fools if they announced a tour and then got in a fight because Roth put his Slurpee on Eddie's amp at rehearsal and called off the tour. I'd imagine they're trying to get all kinds of legal issues ironed out as they stand to make an absolute killing...if they can pull it off without killing each other.

Take it for what it's worth. Someone told me this, I'm just repeating what I heard. There is no documentation, taped phone call or video tape to back this up.
