They have a new album coming out next month, and it's really good. If the earlier material didn't float your boat, the new stuff might. Check it out. Matter of fact, you can hear some samples on their site at www.themarvelous3.com. And I liked Southgang too. If they had come out a couple of years earlier, they could've been really huge!!

c

The singer and lead guitar player have a new band called Mister Natural. It's good melodic hardrock. They have a website: www.itsanaturalthing.com. If you are not familiar with the Blonz and are a fan of classic Bon Jovi, get the s/t cd. Very good. I love it. You can probably get it cheap on ebay. I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

It's a Pope thing, you wouldn't understand.

Popefreak

Oh yeah, I also love Outlaw Blood. Great blues/pop!

RE: Remember these early 90s acts?

The only two bands on your list that I am at all familar with are:

Contraband -- Nice little side project for these musicians. Liked most of it, but not absolutely crazy over it enough to buy it. Never got to see them either.

Southgang -- Ya know, I stumbled upon these guys at a place in Brooklyn (fairly large and usually packed) and they kicked ass. I was amazed at their stage presence and showmanship.

Butch performed as if the guitar was literally a part of his body the way he seemed to commanded that thing. I've never seen a guitarist (and I've seen plenty!) play so well, yet be able to use it in such a way like a prop or a toy before. He also came across as extremely sexy doing it (or is it because I seem to have this thing for dark-haired guitarists? Hmmm...). A short time later, I heard that they were scheduled to play a little club nearby where I live (ironically the very same place that Steve Augeri used to tend bar) and they put on the same energy-charged show to a much smaller crowd. They didn't seem to compromise their energy level one bit with such a small amount of people. Although their music at the time was clearly not cutting edge or very innovative, they sure knew how to get your attention.

On a side note, I recently caught The Marvelous 3 in concert on some cable channel (VH1?) on TV last week. I had vaguely remembered that these were the guys of Southgang, minus the singer (BTW, I barely recognized them!). Although their music was indeed catchy and energetic, I wasn't floored by the songs. I was very impressed by their performance though. Butch has still got that mega-stage presence and still whips that guitar around like he used to. He's also seems to have a few new tricks that he does with his guitar picks!

They're not my style of music, but I wish The Marvelous 3 lots of luck. Musicians who are such naturals at it, and obviously know what the word "entertainment" means, definitely deserve to have success.

Rocker Chic

It definately isn't a finesse album, but it rocks pretty good without being too heavy. The singer isn't great, but he gets the job done. They kind of had an early Seattle sound, like a lighter version of Alice in Chains. Their guitar player went on to play in Arcade. Don't know about anyone else in the band.

Cool details on those rock bands!

Outlaw Blood - Theses guys were ok, they kinda sounded like Billy Idol. About 4 or five good tracks but some of them sounded the same. Some Black Crowes influnces - not great but worth a cut out bin price
Blackeyed Susan - Don't like old Britny Fox. Don't like Dizzy Dean. Don't like blues metal.
Roxy Blue -Awesome. Warrant wanna-bes. Funny, good vocals, dumb lyrics, cool ballads. Good looking guys who probably got into the biz just to get ass. This is a good record though. Too Hot To Handle, Times Are Changin', high points...
The Hangmen - Who are they? Please tell me.
Contraband -If you like Shark Island, then you'll like Contraband.
Southgang - The two albums were kinda dodgy. About half and half on both. The guitarwork is excellent though and Jesse Harte has a nice screech. Like a toned down Mark Slaughter. Tainted Angel has some good ballads and several good rockers. Good Cd for a small price. Group Therapy is more serious. The ballads are good but very dark. About three good rockers and one of them is kind of a neat horror/Iron Maiden "story song" called Legend of CC Road. Kinda cool. Again, this album is less produced though and the melodies aren't always there.
Crystal Roxx - I like these guys. Sleazy. They made no money as a band but this CD is like one of Crue's best. The ballads are ten times better than recent Crue shit and the rockers are mostly about sex and hookers. They're done pretty well, Richie Angelucci has a good sleaze voice but he can sing well too. "Hollywood" and "Be Mine To Satisfy" are strong points. This type of music does wear thin though and I got sick of the disc fast.
The Zoo - Never heard, any details?
Cry Wolf - Poodley AOR. Okay...like a softer early Danger Danger. Lots of keyboards. The ballads are decent but sort of gay (not to be PI). One or two good rockers. But this stuff is very light and airy. "West Wind Blows", "On The Run" are high points. These are both rockin' outlaw songs and are the heaviest and most explosive on the album. The rest is very middle of the road. Kinda manufactured.

What do you think of these acts?

Hericane Alice
Wildside
Shotgun Messiah
Lixx Array
Wild Boyz
Every Mother's Nightmare
Blonz
Dirty Blonde
Sleaze Beez
