Hi there! I got some questions, maybe some of you can help me: 1. I´m a MHR fan for about 8-10 years now and wonder if there are other´s too in my age (18)? 2. Maybe someone could give me infos about following bands; also if their albums are still available etc..., cause i couldnt find anything of them: Vandenberg Tone Norum Giuffria Only child 3. Whats in your opinion the 2 best/most typical AOR(!) album ?? Mine would be Magnums Storytellers night and Dare´s Calm before.... 4. Anyone got infos to DAREs Belief (release date, trax, soundclips?...) or an URL or infos for the band DREAMHUNTER??? ...Personally, the denture thing isn't a problem for me (yet), but d@mn, during that whole Khalil/Escape fiasco I sure had a hard time typing with that greasy Ben Gay stuff all over my fingers.

...Oh, I don't know, probably because two years ago the average 21 year old was more interested in Chumbawumba (sp.?) and Jewel than The Storm or Harem Scarem.

...It is amazing to me how many people south of our border haven't heard this band. Y'all are missing out, ya hear? During the '70s and '80s up here at Santaville, Prism was as much a household name as Foreigner, Styx, Journey, or any of the other AOR giants. I'm not joking. And although they don't sound like any of those bands, their music fits right alongside those other bands. In fact, the compilation I mentioned is only minutely less important in my "Most Important AOR Albums of All Time" list than Journey's g/h compilation. It's just classic, classy, cool AOR. You can't imagine how many good memories I have of slowdancing to the gorgeous ballad "Night to Remember" with cute girls at school dances! I'm getting sweaty palms just thinking about it, LOL! And tracks like "Spaceship Superstar" and "Armageddon" are still regular radio fodder around my neck of the woods on FM stations. I had a friend of mine burn some copies of the compilation I mentioned for me to share with some of my European friends. When I get home I will check to see if I have any extra copies left over. If so, you are getting one for sure. You NEED to hear this band!!!

Anyway, thanx again for your help; it seems that i cant buy anything else right now, cause there´s an online shop here in Austria which got ALL Magnum cds and th 1st DAREand where you can also pay without credit card, which i dont own, so these gotta be first on my list!!!!! (.....pretty long sentence...;-)...) I also found the Giuffra - S/t there, but I´m not shure if i should order it yet.

...I TOTALLY agree with Jack here, and would add to his list the following:
-Prism - "Over 60 Minutes With"
-Hardline - "Double Eclipse"
-Journey - Just about anything (their g/h compilation is a super place to start)
-Mark Free - "Long Way From Love"
-Boston - s/t

As for Vandenberg, I could get flamed like crazy for sayin' this, but hey, blame it on my frozen Canuck ears: To me they always sounded like a slightly heavier, more European sounding Foreigner (with a class-A guitarist). IMO, the singers' voices are really quite similar.

No, but really.....Tone Norum is, I believe John Norum's sister - I think she went in a rootsier vein with the "Red" CD. The first was made with the colaboration of Europe, and the second, This Time with outside writers like Kelly/Steinberg and session musicians, kind of like Heart or Starship, I guess.

Two CDs that are indicative of the genre and are undisputably great would be Harem Scarem's self-titled debut which is an absolute must, and The Storm's Eye of the Storm. If you don't have them, quit asking about Giuffria and get them!
