RE: It's Alive and Max Martin

It's Alive released two albums and around four singles. The first was a private, limited pressing.Entitled 'Time Waits For No One', this single was issued in 1988 and is very rare.
Megarock Records released the band's first album, basically a collection of demos intended as a promotional tool in 1991. Indeed, this was the very first release on a label started by this Stockholm based import/export company who had a management interest in the group.
1000 copies were pressed but, strangely, it isn't considered to be that difficult to obtain. A funky blend of Dan Reed Network, The Time, Kiss and Whitesnake, the press generated by this release (mainly in the UK and Sweden) eventually secured the band a deal with the BMG affiliated Cheiron label. However, a CD single, 'Metalapolis', was irst released through Active/Music For Nations in 1992 and the 'It's Alive' album was given away in cassette format with an issue of the UK mag 'Metal Forces'.
The album cut for Cheiron, 'Earthquake Visions', was released in 1993 and if you can imagine the songs Max Martin was involved in with Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys boasting heavy rock guitars then you'll have some idea as to what this record sounds like.
Three singles were released; 'I'm Your Man' (backed with a cracking cover of Kiss' 'Parasite'), 'Sing This Blues' and 'Pretend That I'm God'.
The band toured in Germany in '94, but by 1995 Martin had decided to pursue opportunities at Cheiron as a songwriter/engineer under the wing of the late Denniz Pop and, assuming the alias of Max Martin, worked on records by Dr Alban, Ace Of Base etc before getting his big break with Backstreet Boys, Britney et al.
It's Alive continued for around a year with a new singer but he wasn't in the same class.
Rumour has it that Max is working on a heavy rock comeback of sorts in collaboration with It's Alive guitarist Per Aldeheim and techno star E-Type (formerly Manninya Blade drummer Martin Eriksson!)
Incidentally, 'Earthquake Visions' was released in the UK by Music For Nations and included extra tracks previously only available on the Swedish singles.
Oh, and having seen It's Alive, uh, live, I can tell you they really were AWESOME. The fact that Martin prefers the studio to performing himself is a mystery, as he's a great frontman in his own right.
