John Waite

I often see his name on this site maybe because Andrew likes him. I know him by his No.1 hit Missing You during mid 80s but I didn't recognize him as a rocker.

Andrew or anyone educate us about this guy.

Thanks

I am not a big fan of most of the Babys material. As far as individual albums go, Union Jacks is probably the best.
Every Time I Think Of You and Back On My Feet Again are probably the most popular Babys songs.

I like Bad English's When I See You Smile which became quite a hit but I didn't notice the lead vocal was John Waite. Bad English/S/t is definitely in my future purchase list. I will also check the albums you mentioned and Babys work(which compilation would you recommend?)

The chorus of Every Time I Think Of You still remains in my memory...

Regards

Susumu

RE: John Waite

John is the former lead singer from the Babys. They had several hits between the mid-70's and early 80's. After their break-up he recorded several solo lbums. "Missing You" was, of course, his biggest hit. He then helped form the supergroup Bad English with Neal Schon, Ricky Phillips, Jonathan Cain and Deen Castronovo. Phillips and Cain also were a part of several of the Babys albums. After two releases, Bad English disbanded. This left Waite to resume his solo career, releasing the brilliant Temple Bar album followed by When You Were Mine. But, he has had terrible luck trying to find a record label that will stand behind him and his back-catalogue has been almost completely decimated.
In my opinion, a brilliant vocalist and songwriter. I most highly recommend the Bad English-Backlash album, and the John Waite-Temple Bar album.
