Journey Tour

This question is being asked other places as well, but I was wondering what you all thought - what band would you like to see Journey tour with?

In thinking about this, I have factored in that I want to hear a lot of Journey, I want the crowd size to be decent, I don't want the other band's fans to boo, leave, not show up for Journey, and I want Journey to headline, or at least close. Also, I don't want Journey to be outperformed. And of course - the music style's have to gel!

Some of the band's I thought about were Damn Yankees (could outperform Journey, and take time a lot of time away), Loverboy (wouldn't add enough fans?) Styx (fans would be pissed if Journey headlined) REO (would take a lot of time away from Journey), Foreigner again (it seemed to me that the fans bickered amonsgt each other in the respective boards), Journey alone (need more of draw for at least now).

So I came up with Night Ranger. I think, but could be wrong that the fanbases are not only similar, but crossover. Night Ranger would add a decent number of fans, especially if they played some Damn Yankees, wouldn't play for more than an hour, music is great AND the bands have mutual friends (Neal and Jack).

Whoops! Styx Info. Update

Just heard from a "VERY reliable source" (as in one step away from Glen Burtnik) that Styx is supposed to continue their tour (which I've affectionately dubbed "The Never-Ending Tour") straight through July of 2001! So, you Night Ranger (and Damn Yankees) guys, it seems as though Tommy is going to be quite busy.

I realize that the Yanks are supposed to have Damon Johnson fill in for Tommy and that Tommy will try to make what dates that he could, but I suspect the label would really like to have Tommy on board for the tour. Most people are more familar with Tommy Shaw (certainly the label would consider him a big draw to the shows) than they are with Damon.

'Nuff to make you guys tour with Journey, now, Night Ranger? ;-)

Rocker Chic

I've had quite enough of opening acts being booked that have absolutely NO similarity to the headliner to last me a lifetime!

I think either of these two pairings would be amazing, however, I don't know if Ann and Nancy are back into the Heart thing again. Night Ranger would be perfect, however. Especially since it's looking like Brad Gillis will probably not tour to support "Alligator." Also, the Damn Yankees release has been pushed to January (and Styx is supposed to be extending their tour through January and February at least -- Go, Styx!), so they'd probably be free!

I would prefer two killer acts rather than adding a third not-so-great opener. These triple (or quadruple, in some cases) really cut the set lists short and leave me feeling disappointed. An hour-and-a-half of Night Ranger and 2 hours of Journey would be fantastic and, in IMO, much more bang for my buck!

Are you listening, promoters and labels???? :-)

Rocker Chic

Get Hugo and The Storm to tour with Journey. Hugo is pretty much unknown in the states and would be a great opening act. The Storm, with Rolie, could come after Hugo and cover some older Journey stuff along with The Storm's work and Two Fires (especially Alyssia). Then have Journey close the show. That would make for a super show.

I don't see it happening though. I think Hugo and The Storm could put too much pressure on Journey.
