Saw a "new" copy of Tommy Shaw's 'Ambition' on CD that's turned up in a respectable record store. A bit expensive, as befits US imports. As for if it's a good album... a lot of fans think it's the best of his 80s solo albums. Personally, I don't like it as well as his other two albums, but I do like it.

As for the songs, to be honest, when I got the album, I thought "Ever Since The World Began" was the only one that sounded like a Tommy Shaw song. I do think they are good songs though, just different from what I expected from Tommy. I think we have this discussion before :)

When I first listened to _A_, this was after being a Styx fan since the mid 70s and having gotten TS's first two solo CDs. I had expected TS's song writing on _A_ and was very dissatisfied when after a first disappointing listen noticed that he had not written a single song on _A_.

I guess it depends what you are looing for. Don't buy _A_ if you are expecting TS's song writing.

Tommy's first two solo albums, _Girls with Guns_ and _What If_, were written by him and a cut above _A_.
Originally _A_ did not sell well and only a had a limited CD printing, which lead to it being a rarity. Way back when, I bought _A_ used, thought it sucked, and had a world of problems trying to find a used CD store to take it in a trade.
