I'm hoping some of you AOR fans can help me find some new bands to give a try. I am a big fan of Harem Scarem, Pretty Maids, Bonfire, Von Groove, TNT, among others. I am hoping you guys could give some input on other bands to try. I would love to find some more acoustic stuff, like Pretty Maids "Spooked" and the Harem Scarem early demos. They sound awful and you'll pay through the nose for them. I know that their awesome releases make you crave more and more, but it really isn't worthwhile. Sure, some of the later demos are okay, but the sound is still bad and plagued by hiss.

If you must have them, some of these are available in Napster or at the HS website linked from here.....but nevermind the "Lost Demos" Japanese Cd.

This is a low budget affair with a nasty triggered drum sound which always spoils the band feel in my book..

Totally agree on Jaded Heart and Gotthard. Sounds like I need to discover Frontline. As fo you, I would suggest you try the few songs that Andrew has posted on MR from Rain (with Michael Bormann from Jaded Heart) - great stuff.

Could you tell us more about Attraction ? By your comments, it sounds like a band not to be missed- also Crystall Ball (never hear of it). By the way, I would suggest Jaded Heart for an awesome band.

Brazen Abbot - awesome!!! PErfect follow up to the first 2 EUROPE albums, the band had till now lots of guest singers on (like Joe lynn turner, göran edman , Glenn hughes)

Fair Warning - Check out the album "4" A-w-e-s-o-m-e!!!!!!!!

CITA/Guil of ages - check "Heat of emotion" a brilliant AOR album with loads and loads of keyboards.

Jaded Heart "IV" -pretty cool german Hardrock band. Sounds like a harder edge, "uncommercial" BON JOVI

Union - Bruce Kiluck if KISS and John Corabi (Ex-Crüe) play in that band sounds like Grunfge would have been "real" Hardrock!!!!! also cool....

Big Bad Wolf - St Excellent Def Lep style Rock. Sounds like a mix between Leppard/Warrant to me......a must have.

I have a few bands to recommend :

- Jaded Heart "IV" (1999) MTM records. With Michael Bormann on lead vocals, who sang with Bonfire at a time, I think. A killer album with exceptional melodies and unbelievable energy ! web site : www.jadedheart.de
- Frontline "The State Of Rock" (1995) CNR music. A great AOR band with strong melodies and wonderful harmonies. I know just this album but they made three others. you can visit their web site www.frontline-music.com
- Jimmy Lawrence "The World Is Round" (1998) MTM. "Sweet" rock'n'roll with wonderful melodies, and a fantastic voice !
- Robert Tepper "No Rest For The Wounded Heart" (1996) MTM. Fantastic singer, fantastic melodic rock album !
- Gotthard "Open" (1999). More rock than hard than usually, but this album is exceptionally strong in emotions. If you like acoustic stuffs, they did an acoustic album in 1997 called "D-frosted". Steve Lee has a fantastic voice too ! I'd recommend also their first release which is more hard US, with big hits (Standing In The Light & Firedance are great rock'n'roll moments). web site : www.gotthard.com
