RE: Motley Crue/Kharma - Kerrang Reviews

Nicky, the reality is that a magazine is still accessed by a larger audience than any website, no matter how good said site is. I think that the growth of Classic Rock is, as far as the UK is concerned, the best bet we have for improving the situation, as it is bringing back a good many of the people who dropped out of the scene when Kerrang and Metal(ha, f**king ha!)Hammer changed their musical policy. It's funny, but when mags such as the snivelling K demand rock fans be more open-minded when they cover No Doubt or Bloodhound Gang or whoever, at the exclusion of a Malmsteen, Whitesnake, Jekyll & Hyde, Crue etc, that the same open-mindedness is not extended to rock acts by other publications that will cover No Doubt etc to the Nth degree!

RE: Motley Crue/Kharma - Kerrang Reviews

I saw the Crue review too and was very surprised it only got one K.
I bought every issue of Kerrang from the begining upto the early 90's. Now I wouldn't wipe my arse on it. I pick it up on the news stand and skim through on the off chance something decent gets a mention. It is more out of hope really but I never fail to be disappointed. It is my own fault really because I should know better.
Still what chance is there for good rock in this country when the "so called" best
selling rock mag features shite like the Prodigy and the Bloodhound Gang ?
Who needs Kerrang when we have this site ?

Both are great albums, but their reviews don't make sense. BOLLOCKS to them, buy Classic Rock or Fireworks instead!!

RE: Anyone know first week sales for Motley Crue?

What do you expect from Kerrang! I saw the review you mention and it really has a snipe at the lyrical content, which from from the mag that is quite happy for Dino from Fear Factory to bang(sorry)on about his porn interest, or for the latest whiterap crossover to talk about women in the less than generous terms they do,is hypocrisy of the first order. Classic Rock is hammering Kerrang in terms of sales, and I hope CR manages to bury the K six feet under.

Surely now it's up to how the band and the album are marketed in order to reach BEYOND the fanbase.

You can bet your bottom Dollar that the Bon Jovi album won't be stopping at one single. So is there a single on there that's going to crossover into the US charts and re-ignite the Crue's career.

By the way I've heard that Kerrang! (UK's biggest selling rock mag) has given the album a real slagging, giving it 1 out of 5!! That won't help, and I'm surprised given that they used to LOVE the Crue. They even gave Tommy's album 3/5 fer chrisakes!!

If I get any official UK sales I'll post them.

If so, that's brilliant. If not, that's 78 lost sales as far as records are concerned!
Unless it registers in the chart then the popularity of this sort of music will continue to go unrecognised and radio and other media will continue to ignore it.
