RE: Andrew - Invertigo.

Chris I respect your opinions but I still feel your too easily satisfied by the local Australian scene. Having travelled overseas I can tell you our melodic rock scene is stagnant if not dormant. One week in the States or in Europe will yield far more riches than a year here. The AOR/MELODIC ROCK bands overseas are far more talented.
My mate saw Invertigo the other week as part of a fun run event concert and he thought they didn't cut it live. Much like Savage Garden who I saw on a free ticket recently - reasonable in the studio but inadequate live - no spontaneity or charisma; poor guitar player and very average vocalist.
None of these guys would touch RICK SPRINGFIELD who you mention. And you mention Screaming Jets being a PUB rock band. I'm not one of their biggest fans but live they are miles ahead of either Invertigo or Taxiride or for that matter Savage Garden and mark my words will still be around when they others die.
And as for your remark on variety don't take it for granted that we all have myopic vision. I for one love aor and most melodic hard rock; like singersongwriters like Springsteen and Costello and bluesy stuff of worth like Steve Earle. And I also like traditional and progressive metal of a melodic bent. CHEERS.KAOS FAN...

Aus AOR

Well..I like Savage Garden. So sue me! But then I do have a broad taste in music which is one of the reasons I like this site. It seems Andrew doesn't suffer from the tunnel vision which seems so rife in this scene. And it's the likes of Savage.. etc who COULD open doors for other, more traditional, AOR acts if we're lucky.

As for the SCREAMING JETS, at the risk of offending all Aussies on the board (including Andrew) they always just sounded like pub rock to me! However, in a desperate did to avoid 'hate messages' I must say that I believe Rick Springfield could, in fact, turn out to be a God!

RE: Andrew - Invertigo.

I absolutely hate this band along with Taxiride and all these other melodic rock bands we have here in Australia. Pseudo Echo who I saw live a few years back were an ordinary band with a couple of hits like Funky Town. Savage Garden are an abomination, where are the Australian versions of great overseas AOR bands like Two Fires, Heartland, Danger Danger etc. And to think Savage Garden sell millions in relation to the much more modest sales of more worthy artists is criminal. None of these bands exhibit balls or passion, its a savage indictment of the Australian music scene when our best live rock band is STILL the SCREAMING JETS who have toured for about a decade.
