House Of Lords

Andrew and all,
I'm amazed that it's taken this long for the H.O.L. reformation story to hit the Internet. But glad that it was revealed here on this site and on the same day the new issue of 'Classic Rock' hit the stores featuring the story I've been sitting on and keeping quiet about for a month (sorry guys, I'm ashamed to say that it was purely down to journalistic ego that I attempted to claim an exclusive!).
Anyway, here's the scam (from Rock In A Hard Place 2000'):

The summer appears to be here and reformation fever is rife! The biggest news this month is that those gods of melodic rock House Of Lords have reformed with a tantalising line-up that not only includes original members James Christian (vocals), Lanny Cordola (guitar),Chuck Wright (bass), Gregg Giuffria (keyboards) and Ken Mary (drums), but also second guitarist Michael Guy, who played on the band's second album 'Sahara' after both Cordola and then his replacement, Lion's Doug Aldrich, had departed.
"Yes, it's true!!!!!!", exclaimed Chuck Wright when recently collared by yours truly. "Through some fine Century City attorneys, we acquired the trademark for House Of Lords. We have all the original members from the debut album back together plus Michael Guy and we plan to bring in John Purdell (Ozzy, Motley Crue, Heart ) to do some production assisting. We will also be using Kelly Keeling (Baton Rouge amongst others), David Glen Eisley (Giuffria/Dirty White Boy) and Robin McCauley (Grand Prix/MSG) to do some background vocals plus a few other special guests. It'll be awesome.
"Stylistically, we're writing music that falls somewhere between the 'No More Tears' era Ozzy and old Queensryche, but we are keeping our commercial hard rock sensibilities and leaving that familiar HOL sound intact.
"As you might recall, James Christian is quite the crooner so, the killer ballad will be there. We're also developing a new heavy version of The Beatles' "I Am The Walrus".
"We began writing a while ago and we will begin working on the recordings after a deal is struck and we have the funding to go into a real studio, not home recordings as others choose to do.
"We will be using all of our Internet resources to promote House Of Lords to the fullest possible degree. Check out our web teaser at www.houseoflordsgroup.com (you'll need Flash)."
Ken Mary (last seen fronting the alternative yet melodic Soul Shock Remedy) adds: "We are currently just in the negotiation stage with a few labels. We are going to do an album that really highlights the musicianship as well as the songwriting. The general direction will be a bit heavier than the HOL of old as well as some new twists since we've all been involved producing a good number of records since those days and we've all grow a bit.
"It's going to be rippin' for sure!!"
Also worth a mention that Chuck Wright has his own site up and running. Go to www.chuckwright.com for the latest info on the bassist's activities.

I think it all started with a revelation in 'Sounds' in the early 80s that the Michael Schenker Group had a hidden guitar player at one point.
I was lucky enough to have had free reign to wander around wherever I wanted at that Hammersmith show and saw the soundcheck as well as the gig. Lanny Cordola was certainly playing everything as far as I could see.
Can't comment on Gregg's contribution to the records. It was seemingly his band (Gene Simmons' name!), so he could do as he liked. But, let's face it, how are we to really know whether any of our favourite musicians actually play on everything? You just have to look at Kiss as an example and Frehley and Criss' contributions.
With regards Angel, Mickey Jones was reported not to have played a note on 'On Earth..' I recall reading an interview with Eddie Kramer where it was alleged that Punky Meadows played bass.

Personally speaking, whether he'll tour with them (should it ever come to that) is another matter. The guy is a millionaire now. He certainly doesn't need the hassle. Obviously. I'd like to see 'His Royal Greggness' on stage again just like you. Remember the Scorpions tour?! Woah!
