House Of Lords reunion - f**king brilliant

Andrew !

This is the best news I've heard in a very long time, HOL were always #1 on my wish list for bands to reform.

With the original line-up back together (I'm more than surprised to see Greg Giuffria back in the saddle) and John Purdell as producer, everything looks set for another superb album.

Do you know if Mark Baker is involved on the songwriting side this time ?

I'm eagerly waiting for further info on this new album.

Gossip!

But that's the thing Kris - she ain't in the house!!

What you'd figure is that he'd hole himself up in his Swiss mansion shagging her like a wild animal. That's why he's a recluse, right? Cause he's locked up doing all sorts of unimaginably dirty things to his wife, the way we all would.

But see, they don't really see each other much. She goes out on her own on tour because he doesn't like it, so reports say she feels lonely on the road (and I hear tabloid reports go so far as to say she had a quickie affair with her ex-fiancé, who she then dumped again), and he spends his time flying around recording his projects. He doesn't go with her to awards shows or any other public appearances and she's basically solo on tour. Mutt spends his time either locked up in Switzerland watching football games or in the studio with Britney Spears or The Corrs or something (by the way, has anyone heard the new Mutt-produced Corrs?).

So I think he's a recluse just because he's nuts! I'd follow her around like a lost puppy dog everywhere she went and have her indoors whenever she wasn't on stage.

Cheers,
Jack.

He's worked with some of my all time favorite bands like Cinderella, Dream Theater, Ozzy... Well funny thing is those particular albums he worked on are my least favorites by those bands. I still have a hard time listening to Awake, while I just love Images and Words, for example. Well maybe that's not all Purdell's fault, but anyway... Don't like Kevin Shirley that much either :-)

/D

Purdell/Producers....

I agree - Purdell, who almost always works with partner Duan Barron (not this time?), is really good, as producers go nowadays.

Look - Mutt Lange is a mad genius and only works with million-sellers, Bruce Fairbairn is dead, Zito must be cost-prohibitive, Beau Hill is AWOL and they say his reputation with the labels is really damaged, Neil Kernon is doing these weird little groups in another style......The only other ones I can think of that are still around are David Prater, who is probably still engaged in the upcoming Diving for Pearls, and Keith Olsen - what the hell happened to him?

In fact, I'd probably pick Barron & Purdell over Shirley, who's definitely a good knob twiddler, but maybe Purdell could do a better job if he had those big budgets Shirley gets. I still think Shirley could have a more flair and has to develop his style a bit more, but we have yet to hear his latest opus so let's wait & see....

Barron & Purdell have also worked with Alice Cooper & Heart, doing a good job in those too. I think it's good that they have producers working on these things, because so much in the genre is self-produced. I understand that it's often done for budgetary reasons, but musically, it's usually not a good idea.

Cheers,
Jack.

PS - Hey, I just noticed that Mutt Lange looks just like that actor guy.....whatsisname....ah, yes William H. Macy. He's a reclusive William H. Macy with long hair........those of you who may not remember him, he was in Fargo, Air Force One, Boogie Nights, Mystery Men, Magnolia....

HOUSE OF LORDS (and ANGEL before them) are among my all time favourite bands. Their signed poster is on the wall behind me as I write! With each album they seemed to get better. Which brings me to my first gripe. I'd rather one of the other guitar players was involved other than Lanny! Gulp! Sorry!!

That producer's name doesn't ring any bells at the moment either. Help me out guys? For what it's worth I wish it was the man of the moment behind the desk, Kevin Shirley.

Still whatever it takes guys. Please check those egos at the door and give us all the album we're waiting for.

Later...
