AOR in Michigan

Hi, I'm e-mailing from Windsor,Ont & I'm wondering if anyone know's of a record store in Mi which sell's AOR. Thank to the guy's who e-mail some online services but I'm going to be travelling thru Mi & I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion's. I'm having the time of my life on this site; I've probally found 10 cd's I've never heard of but now want. Does anyone think Brian McDonald sound's errily like Kip Winger but maybe that because of Reb Beach help on the album. Any help would be appreciated Jeff

It had a lot of vinyl; a lot of it was stacked on shelves like a library, if my memory doesn't fail me.Thanks, I'm gonna check out the stores I'm not familiar with, on a lazy summer Saturday.
Tinger

RE: AOR in Michigan

Tinger,

I wouldn't say "huge collection," especially if you are looking for AOR vinyl. I've had luck at Desirable Discs - the entire basement of the Dearborn store is vinyl - there's also one on Ford Road, north side of the street, east of Rock of Ages. If you want vinyl and you're traveling to the eastside, there's also Car City Records on Harper and Melodies and Memories (? not sure of name) on Gratiot, around 9 mile - they have some interesting collectibles, too. Good luck.

diamond

RE: AOR in Michigan

Try Record Time in Roseville (Northern suburb of Detroit - Gratiot/n of 11 mile), also Desirable Discs and Repeat the Beat, (they both have multiple locations)...they all sell new and used CD's - I would check out the yellow pages in metro Detroit - there's a place about a half mile from Rock of Ages - maybe called MUSIC MUSIC, that also has a lot of old vinyl and collectibles.

Detroit hosts small record shows year round - they're a great source for new, used, import and bootleg cds and videos - when will you be travelling thru? I picked up the latest Hugo (new) for $16.00 (US) a couple of weeks after it was released in Europe. Most of these guys will 'order' cds for you, let you know about the availability of them, or suggest someone else to contact.

I know of shows on 6/11, 7/9, and 8/13 - three different locations - if you're from Windsor, it would definitely be worth a trip across the bridge one weekend. They're not huge - Elk's Halls and VFW lodges, admission free to $3.00, pretty interesting stuff, lots of interesting characters - and always someone selling Elvis or KISS crap.

Have fun - let me know if you need/want locations!

Check out Wildside Imports in Mich. at http://users.netonecom.net/~wildside/ although I just tried and their site seems to be down. They are located in Whitehall Michigan and their phone is 616-893-0360. I don't know if they have a retail outlet but give them a call. I bought a couple of cd's online from them awhile back and while their service wasn't exactly the quickest given how close they are, they did arrive after a couple of weeks without incident. Enjoy.
