Britny Fox

Just a quick one today, don't want to bore you with reruns, but - I'm guessing there's a few of us on this board that are pretty excited about the BF renunion, or at least reunion of sorts. Tommy Paris' voice rocks and Bite Down hard is by far my fav BF disc (cheers to Joe) and to hear there's a live disc on the way kicks ass man. I've loved all the latest live stuff coming out, Black'n'Blue, Babylon AD, Cinderella, Metallica, Gunners, Maids, ok I'll stop there. Giddyup, hope it hits net-stores soon. Cheers and beers!

I wasn't sure if they went from Dizzy to a totally different kind of singer (ie., smooth vocals) and/or a totally different kind of music. Sounds like they probably grew some between album #1 and #3. Take care and thanks again for the info.
Don

RE: BF/comments & questions...

Its funny, the one BF album I don't have is the debut. I've heard "Girlschool" but that's it. I got into the Fox from their second album (name escapes me) and since I was into Cinderella, Kix and a few other bands of that ilk, the album rocked nicely for me. I believe its in the same vein as the debut however, so the second album may not float your boat. Same lineup by the way on the first two. So then the third album came out and I've only recently found that one thanks to someone on this board. New lead singer (Tommy Paris) whose voice is less high pitched but has the same scratchy strength. In fact I rate his voice better than Dizzy's. "Bite Down Hard" is the third album's name, a straight ahead blues/rock album with all the hooks and catchy riffing and bit rythm, blah blah. Its my favourite by far. I can't compare his voice to anyone else's, although its not too far removed from Dizzy's or even the dude from Cinderella, in fact probably a bit closer to Cinderella, but its individual needless to say. Couple of great ballads on there as well, which I don't think was a BF speciality previous to this. I probably haven't told you much here have I, oh well. Check out the BF home page, I think there are some samples there...

http://wcafe.com/britny/

RE: BF/comments & questions...

Hi all,

I guess I am sort of agreeing with John Q. here, but I also have a question. See, IMO, if there existed a reference guide to sub-par MHR releases, BF's s/t debut would most certainly be waaaaay up there near the front of it. I found that album for $3 (Canadian) and picked it up to replace my (almost unplayed) vinyl. One listen was all it took for me to kick myself for having wasted 3 good dollars. Their overall sound didn't seem that bad, but they just couldn't seem to write a song to save their lives (sorry, but that's how I honestly feel). What I'm wondering now, though, is what the other releases sound like. I had heard that some of their other stuff was released with a different singer than the Dizzy character who sings on the 1st album. Based on the above posts, I guess that information must have been correct. So, what's the other singer like? (Can anyone think of any suitable comparisons to make?) And how does the material on their other albums compare with the stuff on the s/t debut? Did some growth and/or improvement occur? I'd really be interested in knowing. Thanks in advance for the info.
Don

RE: Britny Fox

If I was forced to, I'd rather listen to Britney Spears than Britny Fox. There have been way too many reunions already resulting in subpar comeback albums (or make that old demos that were never supposed to see the light of day in the first place...), but when bands like BF start to crawl back out from under that rock of oblivion, the apocalypse really can't be too far off. God help us all!
