RE: it bites

Went to see Francis Dunnery in London at the Borderline and again at an even better show in Bristol last night. Although the gigs were acoustic, he's still a brilliant guitar player with an amazing sense of humour and some of the best songs ever committed to vinyl. What this bloke doesn't know about melody or songwriting isn't worth bothering with. He and his three backing musos - no drummer - played several old It Bites tunes including 'Yellow Christian', 'Underneath Your Pillow' and 'Still Too Young To Remember' (naturally), as well as older solo stuff like 'American Life In The Summertime' and loads from his last album 'Let's Go Do What Happens'. Apparently he and his band are recording a live album when they get back to the States (Frank lives up on the Canadian border these days), and it should be worth checking out. I concur with Surfpunk - Frank is indeed a god among men.

Truly gifted.
He has also added another date at Wrexham which will be the last of the tour but I don't know the venue. Try www.francisdunnery.com for more info.

Other snippets you may not know are that while he's been living in Vermont he has played on both Santana's 'Supernatural' album and, more surprisingly, Lauryn Hill's 'The Miseducation of...' album.

The album I would recommend to new listeners of his would be his own 'Fearless' album or, if you're into your prog stuff, IT BITES 'Once Around The World'. His recent output has been a lot more er...'spiritual' I suppose, but no less incredible.
An utter, utter STAR. And one of this countries best kept secrets.
