DANI DANZI

Hi Andrew

I tried and I tried like you said about giving DANY DANZI another few listens. But Im still very dissapointed. I think the ATTRACTION is very much a better disc both sonicly and musicly. I don't hate the album, there are some very good songs, but on a whole I don't LOVE it. I especially thought a label like z could have atleast done a better job on the artwork too.But hey One recommendation out of 4 aint too bad!

RE: Danny's album...

Hi John,

I'm not gonna say that I think you'll love Danny's CD, because, as I keep saying in my posts, music is like food: it all comes down to personal taste. While one person's "food of the gods" might be fillet mignon (sp.?), someone else's is bound to be a Quarter Pounder With Cheese. Know what I mean? However, having said that, I have to say that "Somewhere Lost in Time" is my fave album of '99, and it's because of the songs. They are all just so d@mn catchy! I still think I have to agree with those who have criticized the production. I can't put my finger on it, but something about it (or is it the mixing?) just doesn't seem to be quite "right" for my tastes. It might be that the vocals need to be further up in the mix, I don't know. But there's other stuff about the album that, for me, makes up for that. The guitar playing is absolutely stellar. Ya know the way Neal Schon weaves those ultra-melodic fills through a lot of classic Journey tunes? Well, Danny's playing is kind like that, with a healthy dose of Jake E. Lee (back in his Ozzy days) style playing. At least that's what is sounds like to these ears. And the thing that (pleasantly) suprised me the most was Danny's vocals. I'm not sure why, but somehow I thought they might wind up being the weak link on the album. Man, was I wrong!! IMO, Danny sings like an angel. All of these things, combined with songs that stick in your head for days after a spin or two, are what make this album so special to me.

C-Man, I truly am sorry to hear that you found "SLiT" to be a disappointment. I mentioned in a different post a little while ago that I am very aware of the fact that money is hard to come by and that I would never wish for people to feel that I've steered them wrong in terms of the recommendations I make. But I guess, because recommendations are tied to musical taste, it is bound to happen at times, isn't it? Better luck next time I guess, eh? Take care.
Don

I just wish AOR was easier to find...most of the time I have to go to the Virign Megstore in NYC to find imports. Somewhere Lost In Time I came across once in a while, but since this music really is more centered overseas, all the albums here are imports. Still, at least you get to do some traveling :)
Keep up the good work Danny! Thanks for the autograph offer, I'll definitely take you up on that!

Do you know the guys in Shotgun Symphony? That's another great AOR band...reminds me of Journey a little.

-John

RE: DANNY DANZI

Hi John,

Thanks for the support man, and for the kind words! I think you'll find out that most of us AOR guys are pretty down to earth and humble. What's there to be egotistical about....number 1, I look at this as we're all in it together (being the fans and artists), and number 2, we're all damn lucky to even have a scene still left alive, you know? I don't look at any of this stuff as a competition. Though there are some bands I like better than others, I would hope we're all in this for the same reasons. For me it's for the fans. Sure it would be great to be a mega rockstar, but for me it's a gift all in its own just to reach out to people all over the world no matter how few they may be and say......."yeah man, I'm doing what I want to do and people dig it just the way it is." I've said it a billion times, but I always seem to hit it again.....it's an awesome gift from God being an artist and having the ability to create, but it is the power of the people that make me what I am, and I'll never put a price on that. :-)

If you do pick up the CD, send me an e-mail and I'll give you my address if you want that jacket insert signed. ;-) Thanks again for keeping our dreams alive!

Sincerely,

Danny Danzi
http://www.dannydanzi.com

I saw your CD in New York recently but only had enough for Damned Nation but next week I'm gonna pick it up - somebody this cool and intelligent has to make some good music.

Rock on man,
John

PS Oh, I did hear "Save Us" I believe and it sounded like a good song...Can't say what it reminded me of...maybe some more melodic Jaded Heart? Definitely not Johnny Lima though..

RE: DANI DANZI

Hi C-man,

Sorry you didn't like the Cd. I guess that's just the way it goes sometimes, and an artist can't make everyone happy. You also have to understand that ATTRACTION are a very different style than what I do. There really can't be a solid comparison when bands are totally different. On another note, there are many reviews on my web-site where the people that reviewed my Cd loved it. Out of all the reviews that were done, there was only one slightly negative one, and it wasn't really bad. It's not posted on my site because the guy that reviewed it was obviously smoking crack when he made a few lame comparisons that weren't even close! I to this day still wonder if he really did listen to my cd. At one point he compared me to Johnny Lima, (and this wasn't one of the lame comparisons) and though I love Johnny and consider him a very close friend and an awesome artist, we sound nothing alike! Not even close!

So maybe my style just isn't for you, and I'm cool with that. I thank you for your support and hope that maybe my next CD will be more up your alley. But if not, you tried by purchasing the first one and that's totally acceptable by me. You told it like it was in a professional way, and that's all an artist like myself can ask for. It's when people try to hurt feelings or get nasty that bothers me, and you didn't do that at all. ;-) Thanks again, all the best to you!

Sincerely,

Danny Danzi
http://www.dannydanzi.com
