PANTERA

I just found this group in Miscellaneous Reviews today. Pantera is very very popular in Japan. Anyone who knows about this band please let the MHR fans know about them.

Best regards

He's got a good voice, but the music doesn't really call for it...

I think Pantera rules, but you're right...they're not melodic.

However, because they are not melodic does not mean that they automatically 'suck' as you say...I think I'm not the only one who frequents this board who knows how Pantera sounded and looked before they turned thrash. There are very few melodic songs that you think are great that this band COULDN'T play if they so desired. So I think 'suck' is kind of a harsh term.

JK

RE: PANTERA

Pantera may not be your cup of tea, but they are great at what they do so they certainly do not suck, phool! To say that Dimebag Darrell is 'quite good' is a total insult as he plays circles around most guitar players. Would he be on the new Randy Rhoads Tribute alongside Jake E Lee, George Lynch, Roy Z and Wolf Hoffmann if he was as mediocre as you claim? Hardly. To say that every Pantera song sounds 'exactly the same' is about as accurate as saying every Journey song sounds exactly the same. Complete and utter BS! And finally, Pantera flew the flag of metal and helped keep the genre alive and in the spotlight when the grunge and alterna freight train annihilated close to everything else in the early 90's, so you can shove your childish 'death to false metal' crap, pal. True, Pantera do not belong on this site, but you need to learn to differentiate between reality, i.e. the fact that Pantera have made some great music, and your personal, very subjective opinion which obviously prevents you from appreciating anything that doesn't sound like it originated in the 80's. I happen to like AOR/melodic rock AND Pantera as well as many other heavier bands. Just because you are close-minded doesn't mean the whole world is, too.

RE: PANTERA

Susumu, with all due respect if you are a genuine AOR/MELODIC ROCK fan you will hate Pantera as I do. They are a thrashy metal band, I admit the guitarist Dimebag Darrell(ridiculous name) is quite good but this band is ANTI-MELODIC and every song sounds exactly the same. The singer growls rather than sings and the overall effect is really morbid. In other words PANTERA suck. If you want to listen to MELODIC METAL go to bands like HELLOWEEN, DREAM THEATER, STRATOVARIUS, STREET LEGAL, RIOT, GAMMA RAY, HAMMERFALL ETC. These bands feature great vocals, plenty of melodic guitar something that Pantera don't have. I laughed when I even saw PANTERA mentioned in this site!PANTERA SUCK!DEATH TO FALSE METAL! AOR/MELODIC HARD ROCK RULES!
