Richard Marx

I often see his name on this website probably like John Waite he is one of Andrew's favorite. He's one of my favorite too. I liked his debut and second Repeat Offender but as a rock artist he went downhill afterward... Wow I have all his albums except recent Don't-Mean-Nothing compilation(for Japanese fans I suppose). But if his new album sounds like Flesh and Bone maybe I will not buy it.
I want Richard to return to the wonderful world of MHR like Fergie Fredericksen and Jim Peterik did. Rock again Richard! Harder than Repeat Offender.

That is what I want for him.

Regards

RE: Richard Marx

I recently spoke to Fee Waybill of the Tubes who happens to be Richard Marx's best friend and he tells me that Richard is in fact returning to the style of music we know him for best and will be making something of a comeback, releasing records on his own label. He has collaborated with Fee on several songs, both for his own projects, Fee Waybill solo projects and also on the new Tubes album which should be released soon.
He was actually a backing singer on the Fee Waybill Read My Lips album before he made any solo recordings of his own.
I think that in the last few years he has sung too many ballads. I know he is very talented at writing and performing them, but then I hate ballads and even one on an album is too many for me, but let's hope that he gets back to the old style we loved from the early albums.

I like the fact that he does alot of ballads because he does them well. Songs like 'Eternity', 'Until I Find You Again', 'My Confession'...great tracks. Give that CD another listen. Even his unreleased song 'Haunt Me Tonight' is a cool ballad. It's not like Richard Marx is known as some heavy rocker. He's a classy and very underrated singer. Hopefully his new CD 'Avalon' will be just like Flesh & Bone....I can only hope.
