Note 2!
In addition to the food in Pennington`s it is worth noting that there is a Mexican restaurant within 30 seconds of the venue ( walk out of the front doors, turn left and it`s literally just down from Pennington`s ) and a good Indian restaurant about a minute away ( out of the front doors, go straight across the road and up the street opposite Pennington`s and it`s along that road ).
Andrew asked (no, not me...)
Do you know if the Harem Scarem guys will definitly be doing a signing session on the day? Just need to know whether to bring my CD or not!
Pretty much all the bands will be available during the day at some point or another to sign CD`s. We might try to set something more structured up but it`s hard to nail band members down to times. If anyone has a specific item they want signing by a band then they can always bring it over to the merch stall where someone there will make sure it gets signed for them.
Andy asked:
I was wondering whether there will be a whole host of great CD's for sale.....I have been desperately trying to purchase the Reb Beach album...
Oh yes, there will be a huge amount of N&T / Frontiers CD`s for sale on the day, including as yet unreleased titles, current releases and lots of back catalogue at special prices.
Stephen asked:
Will you be arranging a seated area for the bands to do signing sessions it is a lot easier to get cd's signed?
Not sure about this as it`s hard to tie the band members down during the day. Before they play they don`t really want to do something like that and afterwards they want to mingle. There were a lot of people complaining that the signing sessions at Z Rock didn`t work too well so both ideas have their pro`s and con`s.
Also will the current special cd sale prices continue at the Gods?
Where it is possible we will keep the sale prices. Some titles we have had to restock though so they may have to resort to their original prices. We may even drop some prices though so best to come prepared for a decent haul.
We will also have stock of the new titles by Honeymoon Suite, Andre Anderson and Jim Peterik which aren`t officially released until June 17th!
Will Penningtons be similar to Maximes , in that you can chat to the artists who are playing , or are they going to be in an area away from the punters ?
Also, people have been asking about the dress code. There is no dress code as such. This is a rock concert, so jeans, trainers, t-shirts etc are perfectly acceptable.
There will be an area for the artists to have some privacy on one of the balconies, but we will also be encouraging them all to mingle throughout the day after their sets.
As well as the artists appearing at The Gods there will also be other Now And Then artists at the show. Bob Catley will be there as well as members of Lost Weekend and The Promise, with the possibility of one or two others making an appearance.
Simon asked:
Hi. What is the post code for Pennington's? With that people can use something like MultiMap to get a route from where they live (in the UK) to the venue, something which would be handy for me!
The full address for Pennington`s is -
PENNINGTON'S, 110 MANNINGHAM LANE, BRADFORD, WEST YORKSHIRE, BD1 3ES
To get door to door directions go to www.multimap.com and go to the directions section.
Wendy asked:
We want to come from Holland by car, is there a campingsite nearby where we can stay those two nights?
I`m not really an expert on this as I`m not from the area, but I have found a bit of info out. Firstly, they shuold check out www.multimap.com as that will provide them with good maps of Bradford and it`s neighbouring towns.
Then, go to www.handbooks.co.uk/camps/region.php3?region=North+East+England and enter West Yorkshire into the search.
That will throw up around 20 campsites which are in the general area of Bradford. They can cross reference their locations using the multimap pages.
There are also 3 sites in Keighley to be found at albionroamer.co.uk/lstwykeighley.htm These are all within easy travelling distance of Bradford.
Alternatively, they could contact the Bradford Tourist Information Centre at tourist.information@bradford.gov.uk as I`m sure they`ll have more info.
All the best, Mark.
Will it be a press phographers Area in front of the stage in Pennington's like Wigan?
Yes, there will be. But, anyone requiring a photo pass must inform us at Now And Then prior to the event. We need to be told in advance of the show the names of the photographers and the publications they are representing at the show.
We are wondering if Pennington's will be open at 10.30 for us to watch the England game?
The England / Sweden game will be shown in Pennington`s 2, the venue for the saturday night preGODS party. This room has TV`s all around the place and can hold around 300 people, so anyone wanting to see the game can watch it in a great atmosphere and then walk through into the main room to see Pulse kicking off The Gods! (ouch, sorry about that one )....Best, Mark.
More on the DVD filming!
The entire event will be recorded / filmed (more info coming soon ). At present there are plans for a Gods 2002 compilation, Ten, Harem Scarem, Hardline, Jeff Scott Soto and Shotgun Symphony releases with the possibility of a Honeymoon Suite DVD as well.
It`s really down to a few factors such as how good the performances are, how good the footage looks and how `into it` the crowd gets.....so let`s see people down the front from the start of the day!!!
Steve asks:
What Merchandise is Mark planning to have on sale on the day?
There will be GODS 2002, TEN and HAREM SCAREM merchandise available. We will be repeating the very popular girl`s fitted t-shirts and both sexes baseball shirts. I`m not 100% sure if any of the other bands will be bringing anything with them this time.
What are the (Obviously very provisional!) proposed release dates for the DVD's?
Hmmm, this is a tough one. With Ten and Harem Scarem we are aiming to get their products released around September / October, with The Gods 2002 compilation hopefully ready in time for the November Gods show. Shotgun Symphony, Jeff Scott Soto, Hardline and any other individual releases are as yet uncertain but hopefully they`ll all come out this side of Christmas.
We don`t want to flood the market with DVD`s / live CD`s but it`s also something that has to be released relatively quickly otherwise it becomes very dated.
When will the Pennington's website be up and running?
Not sure, but to be honest there will be nothing on their site that isn`t already on either the Now And Then site or Andrew`s site. It will be more of a general site for the venue which will list forthcoming shows etc.
If there is anything about the venue that anyone wants to know, simply email Andrew and he`ll pass it on to me and I`ll answer it here.
All the best, Mark
Stacie asks:
Do you know if regular, instamatic cameras are allowed?
Yes. We aren`t allowing recording devices / camcorders because of the bootleg problem that occured a couple of years ago, but standard cameras are fine.
Hi Andrew,
Beer prices at Pennington`s for The Gods will be pretty much the same as at Maximes, i.e. around £210 a pint and there will even be some special offers on bottled beer / alcopos for £1 a bottle hopefully.
All the best,
Mark
Questions about accommodation, which is STILL available! Thanks to Sue and Gareth for the links.
Go to www.brook-hotels.co.uk/quality.html and then click on special offers at top.
"GOLDEN JUBILEE WEEKEND Visit the Brook Hotel of your choice for only £45.00, (room only) per night OR £40.00 per person per night which includes accommodation, evening meal and breakfast"
This is an "elegant Victorian hotel has a rosette winning French bistro style restaurant and luxurious bedrooms with TV and CD players... Adjacent to Bradford Interchange railway station. Ample free parking available". Normally £60-90 per room I believe so a great bargain - if they've still got rooms left.
And - www.travelodge.co.uk/offercomp/index.php
At the moment, if you book before May 22nd you can get a ROOM for £35.
Will there be plenty of tickets on the day?
There should be as the venue is twice the size that we normally use for The Gods. Of course, there is no guarantee that we won`t sell the place out so it would be best to either purchase your tickets in advance or at least reserve them on the door. This can be done through us directly. It also saves you £5 a ticket as reserved tickets will be £25, on the day they will be £30. SO, if you`re certain that youre coming it would be best to reserve them for sure.
They can email us via: petersims@nowandthen.co.uk or ring us on 01942513298.
Is there plenty of parking on site?
There`s a car park for 300 cars right next to the venue. Pennington`s have said that they will have a security person checking the car park regularly so it should be a fairly safe place to park.
11:30 till 2am is a long time will you be able to leave the and come back later?
Yes, it will be possible to leave and return. We will implement either a `pass-out` or a hand stamping scheme.
What's the area like for chip shops and other fast food joints?
To be honest, I`m not that familiar with the area myself. I`ll ask the people at Pennington`s about this and update the info later. I do know that there are several good curry houses locally (ask Bob Catley as he`s the curry expert!).
There is also a food bar in Pennington`s which will be open most of the day.
Groucho asked:
We see that Ten is going to make a DVD...("...and really excited about filming our first live DVD")...Will their be like footage taken of Honeymoon Suite, Eric Martin, Hardline and the rest?
The Answer: Absolutley! All sets and all bands are being recorded and filmed. Then a compilation of the whole event will be put together for special DVD release later in the year.
Jeff Scott Soto is also releasing his own DVD / CD of his complete set. There's bound to be more info on this coming soon, so stay tuned...
Campbell Braid asked:
"I might travel down from scotland for the gig. could you please ask Mark the easiest way to get there from Bingley?
Mark's Answer: For directions to Pennington`s from anywhere in the UK, go to /www.multimap.com then go to the Maps And Directions section, then click on the Directions page and enter your address and the address of Pennington`s (110 MANNINGHAM LANE, BRADFORD, WEST YORKSHIRE, BD1 3ES ) and it will give you door to door directions.
Davey asked:
"Hey Andrew ...Whats the odds some one ends up head first in that fishpond?"
The Answer: Unbackable odds....as long as it isn't me...
Jordi Mallorqu asked:
"This is my first show in gods. so can y buy the tickets on - line by Visa, but I would like to receive the tickets on pennington, not tickets send me to home. What can I do???
Mark's Answer: If you purchase them from someone like Destiny or Loud 1 and tells them this is how he wants to work it then they will sort it out with me. Alternatively, I can reserve tickets on the door for him and he can pay for them in cash on the day at £25 each, as long as he tells me how many to reserve in his name.
Also:
Is it possible to arrive by air at London and take a train to Bradford?
Yes, but it`s about a 3 - 4 hour train journey. Best to fly in to Liverpool, Manchester or Leeds / Bradford airports if possible.
Is it necessary to rent a car to arrive at Pennington's???
It depends on where you are coming from. It might be cheaper to rent a car for the weekend if there are a few of you coming together. It will certainly be a better and more comfortable journey than a train in this country : -)
