VIVA! DEF LEPPARD IN 2014: Def Leppard is planning a "Viva Pyromania" residency in Las Vegas in 2014 while also preparing to record an album of new material in Dublin. "The Vegas thing was amazing," guitarist Phil Collen told Billboard, referencing their "Viva Hysteria" residency at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. "We're also going to be doing Viva Pyromania at some point at the end of next year."
"Pyromania," the 1983 release certified 10 times platinum in 2004, was the Sheffield, England hard rock band's breakthrough album, predating "Hysteria" by four years. Def Leppard gave 11 "Hysteria" concerts in Las Vegas in March and April before heading to Europe where they played "Hysteria" in full at Hellfest in France and continued to have revelations about the album that contained "Pour Some Sugar on Me," "Love Bites" and "Armageddon It." "When we were rehearsing we realized how much went into that," Collen said on the red carpet after the finale of "The Voice." "It's a rich and expensive sounding record. It doesn't sound like it now, but it was very experimental. Guitar parts that you only did once, you had to revisit. And you have to get into it." Adds drummer Rick Allen: "So much time went into recording that record. It is so deep and complex. Every time we play it, there's a new way to do it."
The specter of their '80s heyday looms over Def Leppard any time they venture back into a studio, the last time being 2008 for "Songs From the Sparkle Lounge." Collen and guitarist Vivian Campbell agree they have a unique balance to be mindful of whenever they do new material.
On one hand, they hope to record a fair amount of the record live as they did with 1996's "Slang," an album under appreciated at the time of its release. It has only sold 367,000 copies, according to Soundscan. "You paint yourself into a corner with a certain writing style when you have a huge album," Collen says. "'Slang' is very raw -- us playing live -- and everyone hated it. You learn from that. You don't want to cop out too much."
Campbell says the band can overthink the situation at times. "I think sometimes you just got to let it happen. The other side of the equation is the band is successful for a certain sound. It's a brand like Coca-Cola and you've got to give the people what they expect. At the same time you have to move on."
From the perspective of Collen, Campbell and Clark, the emphasis is on big vocal beds, loads of guitar and lyrics that singer Joe Elliott can get behind. As they've aged, they have been able to explore tragedy on a personal level and get beyond anthems for strip clubs and frat houses. "In a way, the real craft to me is being ambiguous," Campbell says. "Joe is the best person to keep the balance. I remember we were writing lyrics once on the 'X' album. I can't remember what the word was, but I (gave him lyrics) Joe looked at it and said 'I'm not singing that word. That's not rock 'n' roll. Sting would sing that word.' Its gotta be a blue collar working class vernacular. (Otherwise) it's not rock n roll. You're Bob Dylan or Bono or something." Def Leppard's appearance on "The Voice" was in part to promote the broadcast TV debut of "Def Leppard: Viva! Hysteria" on AXS TV on Dec. 29.

JULIAN'S BEAST READY TO KICK DOWN DOORS IN JANUARY: Julian Angel's Beautiful Beast - Kick Down The Barricades, to be released via Platinum Blonde on January 24.
Once again Julian Angel's Beautiful Beast has taken a ride on the time machine back to 1989. Their third album 'Kick Down The Barricades' sounds as old fashioned as any hair metal fan would expect it to be. Just the way they did on predecessors 'Adult Oriented Candy' (2011) and 'California Suntan' (2012) Beautiful Beast have refused to add any modern elements to their songs and thereby manifest their reputation of being Hair Metal traditionalists – or retards as other people may have it.
'Kick Down The Barricades' sounds rawer and edgier than the band's previous records and left room for spontaneity and improvisation even in an all so sterile studio environment. The album was recorded at Julian Angel's studio The Vegas Room and mastered by Rolf Munkes (Tony Martin Band, Empire, Razorback) at Empire Studios, Germany.
Two months prior to the official album release Beautiful Beast have published the music video for the album's opening track 'Bad Boys Never Dance' for which they could win legendary glam journalist Kelv Hellrazer to star as the VJ. The sound, the style, the same old stories – you have heard it all before and you will hear it again. Julian Angel and Beautiful Beast don't reinvent the wheel. They simply keep it turning when others have run out of gasoline.
Beautiful Beast mastermind Julian Angel is a German rock musician with, by now, five albums to his record as well as a German Rock Award nomination for 'Best Guitarist' in 2000. Julian has scored a #8 chart album in Austria as songwriter for rockabilly group The Monroes in 2013. He is also the sole producer of MusicBiz Madness, a music business conference for unsigned musicians, which regularly features renowned keynote speakers from the German music industry.

SWEDISH/AMERICAN SUPERGROUP W.E.T. TO RELEASE THEIR ANTICIPATED LIVE CD/DVD: Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of W.E.T. anticipated 2CD/DVD “One Live – In Stockholm” on February 21 in Europe and February 24 in North America.
On January 17th, 2013, W.E.T. played an exclusive show at the Debaser Club in Stockholm, Sweden to celebrate the release of their sophomore album, “Rise Up”. The show was promoted almost exclusively through a viral web campaign, so that night the faithful and energized crowd's fever for the band, featuring Robert Säll (the “W” from Work of Art), Erik Mårtensson (the “E” from Eclipse) and Jeff Scott Soto (the “T” from Talisman) was incredibly high (despite the cold Swedish winter being in full force). Fans flew in from all over the world and the venue was packed to the rafters when the band hit the stage with their driving number “Walk Away”.
W.E.T showcased songs from the then forthcoming album “Rise Up” as well as from the critically acclaimed self-titled 2009 debut album. A truly exquisite performance, where the band played many fan favorites including two Talisman songs, as well as one song each from Eclipse and Work of Art. The Eclipse song was "Bleed & Scream" which was sung by Erik Mårtensson and the Work Of Art song was "The Great Fall" where the band were joined by Lars Säfsund, lead singer of W.O.A.
Jeff Scott Soto recalls: “For us, it was a magical night as much as a nervous one... We all have the experience of performing live to multitudes of people, the wisdom on how to take the show from A-Z but none of these items together as a new band. With that, you're witnessing something I know in 10-20 years time, we will all reflect upon as something special captured on film and recording as a moment in time we'll never forget”.
The show was filmed and recorded for a live CD / DVD release, which also includes two unreleased bonus tracks, studio cuts taken from the “Rise Up” sessions. The resulting album “One Live - In Stockholm” captures a stunning performance and celebrates the birth of W.E.T. as a kick-ass live unit.

Steve Overland is back!! A legend in his own lifetime. Is there anyone out there who is not familiar with his name? He has a history that goes way back into the late seventies, his first major recording was with the band “Wildlife” in 1980. After the demise of “Wildlife” Steve went on to form the cult British melodic rock band “FM”, a band that released many great albums throughout the eighties and nineties and more recently in 2013. Their popularity has always been at the forefront of British Hard Rock.
Steve originally teamed up with Escape Music to provide lead vocals for the Boston Tribute album (ESM 081), singing 'Amanda', one of the album highlights. Steve also teamed up with Steve Morris of “Heartland” fame to record the much acclaimed “Shadowman” albums “Land of the Living” (ESM 099) “Different Angles” (ESM127) “Ghost in the Mirror” (ESM179) Watching Over you (ESM224).
Steve has also fronted two releases by “The Ladder”, which is a dream come true for all fans of FM as the band is an extension of the great FM themselves. “Future Miracles” (ESM109) was welcome by fans old and new and it was hailed by many as the best album of 2004. More recently “Sacred” (ESM149) is an album that hones the identity of “The Ladder”.
Steve's first solo album “Break Away” (ESM170) had fans divided as it was so much different from his work with FM, but many grew to love it as it was something different from the norm. Steve gave us a more classic approach to melodic rock with “Diamond Dealer” (ESM198), with great songs that have feeling and depth. It's now time for one of the finest starts to 2014 you could possible want to wish for, the album “Epic” which is the brand new release from this famous vocalist. With Mike Slamer and Billy Greer of Kansas involved in the proceedings then we are in for a big big album. “Radio Radio” is one of the most radio-friendly tracks you could ever wish to hear and so easy on the ears. Rockers abound with “If Looks Could Kill”, “Rags to Riches” and the awesome “Down comes the night”. It's the quality of the songs and musicianship on this album that makes it so special and credit to Christian Wolff (Rob Moratti) who has also made this album so remarkable with his great guitar playing and song writing.
This is a perfect album from Steve, if you have a penchant for perfect harmonies, big guitars and soaring keyboards topped off with a top-notch production then look no further than this. A Classic – already!

TONY HARNELL: TELLING TALES AND THE TNT REUNION: Tony Harnell recently announced he is reuniting with his brothers in TNT, and he checked in with Hardrock Haven to talk about the reunion, why the timing was right, the upcoming tour, his favorite TNT moments, and what the future will bring.
Here's an excerpt from the interview: HRH: Let's address the news many fans are excited about—the TNT reunion! Was it a difficult decision, and why do youu feel now the right time? Are any shows planned yet?
Harnell: It was one of the most difficult decisions ever, but finally I decided that I spent 22 years of my life working extremely hard building a brand that most musicians would kill for, and I thought the fans deserved it, and I thought I deserved to have that brand back on my bio and take the "formerly of"¯ or "ex" ¯ singer B.S. away. Shows are booked and more are planned.
HRH: Looking back, what are some highlights of the mid-1980s TNT era for you? Do any particular accomplishments, shows or albums stand out?
Harnell: Winning a Norwegian Grammy, #1 albums and singles overseas, our huge success in Japan from '89 through '92. Of course, the wonderful Stryper tour in 1987; all the success of Tell No Tales in America … I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot! Much of it was a blur! LOL.

BILLY IDOL REVEALS AMERICAN ROOTS 'INTHESTUDIO':
Dallas, TX - December 17, 2013. North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands explores the unlikely evolution of late Seventies London punk rocker William Broad into million-selling '80s hard rocker Billy Idol on the 30th anniversary of his mega hit album Rebel Yell.
Billy Idol may have broken into the music business in the waning days of the British punk rock scene with his band Generation X, but he cut his teeth on early American Rock'n'Roll. In the late '50s, William Broad's (aka Billy Idol's) family moved to and lived for a period of time on Long Island, New York where he found himself exposed to the first generation of American rock and rollers Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Gene Vincent. It was this music that moved Billy, even inspiring him to cover Tommy James and the Shondells' classic "Mony Mony" on his debut EP Don't Stop. Billy's music career got a major boost when he moved back to New York in the early '80s just in time for the launch of MTV. The success of club, radio and video hits "Dancing with Myself" and "White Wedding" catapulted Billy's career into the mainstream and the subsequent November 1983 Rebel Yell album "Eyes Without a Face" Top Five single certified it with over two million copies sold. Billy shares with InTheStudio host Redbeard his unlikely punk rock fairytale.
"I liked the Velvet Underground, Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop, the New York Dolls. That's a lot of what punk rock in England was based on, that whole New York scene. So I loved all that sort of stuff. In fact,(co-writer/guitarist) Steve Stevens always says that it's really funny. There I was listening to tons of American music, and there he was in America listening to loads of English music. It's crazy!"
The Billy Idol 'Rebel Yell' / InTheStudio interview program is available now to stream at: www.inthestudio.net/redbeards-blog/billy-idol-rebel-yell-30th-anniversary-2/

NIGHT BY NIGHT TO SUPPORT EUROPE IN 2014:
Swedish Rock Legends are Joined by Up-and-Coming UK Melodic Rockers
UK rockers Night By Night announced today that they are special guests on Europe's tour of Sweden, which kicks-off in Stockholm on March 3. “This is excellent,” enthuses Night by Night guitarist Ben Christo, “if you'd have told us when we started this band that we'd support Europe, we'd have probably said, 'Wow. That's it. We make it!'”
It's been a steady rise for NxN over the last year, having toured the UK with Jettblack and Y&T respectively; the latter jaunt sporting the best shows the band has played to date. “The Y&T crowd really welcomed us and we feel we made a lot of new fans,” recalls Christo. “Y&T were so easy-going; not only did they help with gear-share and logistics, vocalist Dave regularly gave us a shout-out during their sets, saying how great it was to see a new band who didn't use backing-tracks, but actually sung and played everything live. That's something that we pride ourselves on, so to have someone whom we greatly respect notice it was really important. What's more, playing venues that size has really prepared us to step onto the bigger stages of the Europe tour.”
The Europe dates are tied-in with Night by Night's signing to Sunhill, a Swedish label who work with Michael Schenker, Talisman, Nubian Rose and Europe to name a few. Sunhill are set to launch the NxN debut album in spring 2014.

Dennis & Paul are both great singers, and their new songs have with a powerful honesty that really moves me. And I wanted the world to hear that. We've been looking for a reason to come together and see where our strengths might take us, and Andrew gave us that with MRF4. We respect each other's talents, we laugh a LOT and we're recording at our own pace. We're still rounding out the lineup – an LA lineup!- We're having a real blast as we learn how to drive this thing. It's great to be part of a street gang again."
Paul comments, "Playin' the show with such monstas as Eric Ragno and Dennis Dries. How cool is that...I guess really cool... So now we're already into a new killer album that we'll be kickin' off at the Festival...Glad to be back in the McNiece family again!"
Dennis adds, "I have to thank Eric and Paul for dragging me out from under the rock I'd been hiding under for the last couple of years. I feel reborn, and that I now have some brothers to carry the spirit that got me into music in the first place. Paul and I connected right away, and it feels like only a few months have passed since the Tattoo Rodeo days ( I can still hear him singing background vocals so high dogs would come running). Eric is a true rock dog, and I can't thank him enough for being involved in the last White Sister show ever in 2009. His keyboard work speaks for itself, and we're creating some exciting material together. I'm looking forward to hitting the stage with my bruthas and cranking out some familiar songs, and some new stuff to rattle your ears!"

Various VIP options are available for the festival as well as standard General Admission tickets for each day.
An exclusive pre-show acoustic set from Sweden's H.E.A.T. is planned at the event hotel for the Thursday night (October 2). Further details of this even will be announced soon, but it is restricted to Green, Gold & Platinum VIP ticket holders ONLY.

We are extremely honored & excited to be part of MelodicRock Festival 4! And most of all we're proud of our main man Andrew (McNeice) for his relentless work to make this festival a reality once again! A big man, with a big heart (& set of balls!)!! As indicated we have been given the second slot on Friday (03.10.14), being the "newcomers" that we are! Never the less...we see this as a win/win situation!... First of all it's FRIDAY and people are revved up for the weekend and ready to ROCK (+ no one's hung-over...yet!)! Second...this gives us plenty of time to check out all the other great acts on the bill, hang with you guys ... as well as working on our own hangover...for both Saturday & Sunday!! So keep spreading the word about FAITH CIRCUS and we look forward to seeing old & new fans in Chicago come October!!"
VANDEN PLAS TO RELEASE THEIR STAGE OPERA WRITTEN IN COLLABORATION WITH WOLFGANG HOHLBEIN - OUT IN FEBRUARY ON FRONTIERS: Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of Vanden Plas new concept album entitled Chronicles of the Immortals – Netherworld (Path 1) on February 21 in Europe and February 24 in North America.
With “Chronicles of the Immortals – Netherworld,” the German Progressive Metal combo continues the pattern of development from album to album that their fans have grown accustomed to. This time the progress is quite substantial, since the input for this new release came from Wolfgang Hohlbein, who with 43 million books sold worldwide is not only Germany's biggest selling author but also a fan of Vanden Plas. He suggested a creative collaboration: a rock opera for the stage based on his series “The Chronicle of the Immortals.” The result was “Bloodnight” (“Blutnacht”). The libretto was written by Vanden Plas singer Andy Kuntz, together with Hohlbein and his manager Dieter Winkler, himself a respected author. The Vanden Plas team of Stephan Lill/ Günter Werno/Andy Kuntz composed 19 songs for the stage theater production.
“Bloodnight,” with Kuntz in the leading role and the Vanden Plas musicians in the orchestra pit, celebrated a stunning premiere on the stage of the Pfalztheater in Kaiserslautern in 2012. 25 sold-out performances in the 2012 and 2013 seasons with standing ovations that never seemed to end speak for themselves. Overwhelmed by this success, Hohlbein responded by writing another novel: the story of “Bloodnight.”
The next step for the band was to turn the successful theatre piece into an equally successful Vanden Plas album. “Chronicles of the Immortals – Netherworld” has 10 tracks comprising the first act of “Bloodnight.” “Path 2,” the second half of the album, is scheduled to bring the story to a conclusion in early 2015. Kuntz, in agreement with Hohlbein, adapted the stage version to fit an album format. On it he appears as the storyteller, so that unlike the stage production he is not only the main character Andrej Delany, but also embodies the roles of the other protagonists. In this way the storyline is richer and more easily understood by the listener for whom the powerful visions from the stage production are not available.
The music of “Chronicles of the Immortals – Netherworld” is pure Vanden Plas. The songs are noticeably heavier than the stage version and several amendments to the live arrangements can be heard with certain scenes that were rewritten from scratch. Some large chorus scenes from the stage production reappear with stark intimacy on the album, while in other sections a lush orchestral accompaniment replaces the piano line that had led the action in the stage version. At the same time, all the elements come into play that have long been distinctive to Vanden Plas. Kuntz's incisive lyrics are interwoven with Lill's defining riffs and Werno's diverse keyboard parts. A solid base is provided by bass player Torsten Reichert and drummer Andreas Lill, whose collaboration has produced an atmosphere that seems more homogenous and transparent than ever.
It is the attention paid to details that make this album different from any other earlier Vanden Plas recording. It is evident that this album recounts the story from a newly staged theatre production, which makes the Vanden Plas music to “Chronicles of the Immortals – Netherworld” even more diversified and vivid. Vanden Plas fans will immediately feel at home with this album. Hohlbein was also thrilled from the first time he heard the music. He said: “Great album. I loved it! I'm happy that fans of “The Chronicles of the Immortals” can re-experience the story through the rock opera 'Bloodnight'.”
You can enjoy a trailer of the album following this link on Youtube: youtu.be/OtPxTvF-NsM.

RED DRAGON CARTEL RESPONDS TO CRITICS: Jake E Lee and his Red Dragon Cartel have hit the road for their first set of live dates, but have hit some turbulence with heavily critical comments flooding in for singer Darren Smith (also Harem Scarem's drummer). The band posted this comment on Facebook yesterday:
"You fly thousands of miles, have 40 possible songs to create a set with, pick and refine 14 of those, rehearse till 4 in the morning for only 4 days with jet jag and strep throat. Then have a reasonably good sound check only to return to the stage to find one of the monitors is out and the teleprompter is set up wrong (Yes I said it TELEPROMPTER Its seems to work fine for Obama and Steven Tyler, Elton John) plus It's said it will be gone within a couple of weeks, mix in some American prescription cough syrup (Thanks Nassad) and 1 to many pre-jitter shots. Result a sub-standard performance from a great singer. I have stood in a room while they played together and Darren sings his ass off! Yes your right there will never be another Ray Gillen, R.I.P. But the Red Dragon Cartel is about to show the world that they can be great band and that Darren James Smith is a great singer! Reserve your judgment until you watch the videos from tomorrow night's San Diego gig and Fridays show at Vamp'd in Las Vegas. In the meantime go over to I-Tunes and check out "Deceived" from the Red Dragon Cartel album. Jake E Lee is back, playing better than ever with a great Band, Album and Live Show. Wait till they come through your town sometime in the next year and decide for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Peace out!
-- Keep Rockin."
And Darren himself has posted online also: "I JUST WANT YOU ALL TO KNOW I AM LEARNING WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE LEAD VOCALIST FOR JAKE E LEES RED DRAGON CARTEL. I TRULY APPRECIATE ALL THE KIND WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT AND LOVE. IM GOING TO NAIL THIS TONIGHT AND PULL IT BACK A BIT, I GUESS IM NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE. DON'T WORRY ABOUT ME. THE ONE THING ABOUT THIS BUSINESS IS…….YOU GROW THICK SKIN . IN THE IMMORTAL WORDS OF OZZY.."I LOVE YOU ALL"
Good Luck to Darrem for the next two shows.
RUBICON CROSS SIGN DEAL WITH UNIVERSAL SUDSIDERY:
Guitarist Simon Farmery has posted on his Facebook page about his band Rubicon Cross (also featuring CJ Snare from FireHouse): "CONTRACTS SIGNED!!!! I can now let you all know that Rubicon Cross have signed with 'INgrooves' here in the US and will be working closely alongside Universal music group for an early 2014 release. It's been a long road to get here and release dates have come and gone due to us trying to time a good PR & Radio campaign with the label. It's not an easy process and ALL the band appreciate your patience. 2014 will be seeing the band getting out LIVE across the US, an updated website which will finally have Rubicon merchandise for you all and the album itself will be a worldwide digital release and physical release in US via shops like Best Buy. We've negotiated hard to keep the price down for all the fans too.
In the next 4-6 weeks we should see the debut single release for Bleed With Me, to which a video will accompany that we shot last summer. It's a great video and we can't wait for you all to see it in rotation on your screens. So thanks once again for all your support, we do understand it's frustrating when you have to wait so long for a release, fingers crossed people, we're finally there. As soon as we know more, you'll be the 1st to know. Thanks again."

ROCK TO THE RESCUE RAISES $400k:
Los Angeles, CA & Bloomington, IL (December 12, 2013) – Styx and REO Speedwagon, along with Richard Marx, Ted Nugent, Larry The Cable Guy, Survivor, Head East and Brushville are thrilled to announce that the December 4 benefit concert. Rock To The Rescue Extends A Hand To Those In Need, raised $400,783. This completely sold-out show, at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, raised funds for central Illinois communities that were affected by the recent devastating tornadoes and winds. Rock To The Rescue has announced that distributed funds raised from ticket sales, auctions and donations will benefit the Midwest Food Bank, Peoria Citizens Committee for Economic Opportunity, Tazwood Community Services, Toys for Tots and the Washington Community Bank in care of City of Washington Tornado Relief Fund. Tommy Shaw said, “Rock To The Rescue has continued to serve smaller grassroots non-profits around the country wherever we perform and help larger causes whenever we see the need. Because of the support of so many friends in the music community, we were able to respond literally within hours of the reports of the November 17 tornadoes in Illinois, the place where Styx and REO originated. We felt compelled to give back to the people who have given us so much for so long, so we started calling other friends. Everyone who was available immediately said yes! We enjoyed a fantastic concert and raised over $400,000 to help in the effort to move forward, but what was most moving was seeing and feeling the power of music bring us together and lift our spirits once again as the ongoing soundtrack to our lives.” Kevin Cronin said, "On the morning of our recent 'Rock To The Rescue' benefit concert we visited the Washington, Illinois site where the killer tornadoes did the lion's share of their damage. It was a chilling experience. The depth of destruction was hard to describe. We didn't need to be reminded that the effects of this storm and the need for help would go on for years to come. We promised ourselves, and the many new friends we made that day, that our work in the area would be ongoing. We plan on continuing our fundraising efforts as we return for four concerts in Illinois and Indiana in early 2014. It feels good to use the power of rock 'n' roll to lend support to people without whose support we would surely not be rocking to this day."

HEART LIVE FROM CAESARS COLOSSEUM CD AND DVD TO BE RELEASED ON FRONTIERS IN FEBRUARY:
Heart's Classic Hits Including 'Barracuda," "Crazy On You," "These Dreams, "Alone" And "What About Love" Are Featured Along With Songs From Their Most Recent "Fanatic" CD
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the release of Heart 's Fanatic Live From Caesars Colosseum in North America as CD and DVD deluxe edition, Blu Ray and DVD standalone on February 21 in Europe and February 25 in North America.
The history behind this recording began in 2012, which was a year of major achievements for Heart. In addition to Ann and Nancy's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and news that they had been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the year was filed with musical accomplishments. Ann and Nancy Wilson combed their archives for a definitive four CD box set release in the early part of the year, and in the fall of 2012, released their "Fanatic" album to strong critical and fan acclaim. To support the release of "Fanatic," the band embarked upon a major North American headline tour, which ended with a magnificent performance at Caesars Colosseum in Windsor, Ontario, which was filmed by AXS-TV. Heart will be performing shows in February, March and April, 2014 as a continuation of the "Fanatic" tour.
"Heart is one of my personal favorites," said Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino, "and it is more than a pleasure to have them joining the Frontiers family. We look forward to a great partnership together!"
Heart has long been associated with Canada having broken out in Vancouver in 1976 with the release of "Dreamboat Annie" and their return to Canada for the "Fanatic" tour was greeted with the kind of enthusiasm the Canadians save for their own. Ben Mink, who produced the "Fanatic" CD and is another great Canadian musician, joined Ann and Nancy on stage at Windsor, playing fiddle and leading a string ensemble.
In addition to songs from the "Fanatic" album which were performed for the first time for the television viewing audience, "Fanatic Live From Caesars Colosseum" also showcases many of Heart's classic hits including "Barracuda," "Crazy on You," "These Dreams," "Alone," "What About Love," and many more.
NIGHT RANGER'S JACK BLADES CREDITS BIG "SISTER": InTheStudio.NET, the web home for North American syndicated rock radio show InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands goes out on patrol with the best of '80s video stars Night Ranger.
In the Fall of 1982 MTV launched in America, a gamechanger for the commercial music business. Overnight powerful bands of decades past found themselves in career jeopardy while a whole new video-friendly crop of emerging bands powered to the forefront. Night Ranger was one of the first American acts to dominate MTV, and with great success. "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" from their debut album Dawn Patrol gained wide attention as both a video and on radio, firmly establishing the band even in spite of the bankruptcy of their indie label Boardwalk Records. Night Ranger's second album Midnight Madness would produce the quintessential power ballad and video "Sister Christian", becoming the high school graduating Class of 1984's unofficial anthem, single handedly making Night Ranger a multi-million seller practically overnight. Bassist/singer/songwriter Jack Blades remembers with InTheStudio host Redbeard the moment he realized what the video age had done to his band's career. "We walked into a town in Iowa... We were like TV stars, everybody recognized us. It was the constant pounding of that MTV. It launched us immediately."
