JACK RUSSELL'S QUESTIONABLE GIG BOOKING RESULTS IN ALMOST EMPTY GIG:
Worst gig ever. And I don't mean the performance - Jack Russell sounds like he is in pretty good vocal form here, but whoever booked him this gig needs to be fired. Now. Here is a clip of Jack Russell's Great White performing at the Sun Bank National Center in Trenton, NJ on 4/19/14 to an empty arena... The Trenton Freedom are an indoor football team in its first year and apparently haven't really been advertising and this show was scheduled after the football game. Check it out:
'THE BEST' FROM JOHN WAITE DUE IN MAY: John Waite has announced a new compilation, set for release in May. Titled "The Best", the CD/Digital will feature the following tracks: Back On My Feet Again (newly re-recorded), Isn't It Time (newly re-recorded), Rough & Tumble, Missing You (newly re-recorded), If You Ever Get Lonely, Better Off Gone, Suicide Life, Change (live), Every Time I Think Of You (live), Head First (live), Evil (live), Saturday Night (live), Bluebird Café (unplugged), I'm Ready (unplugged), In Dreams, The Hard Way, Downtown, Missing You (duet with Alison Krauss).
At John's site (www.johnwaiteworldwide.com/store) he details the thought process behind the release: "I suppose the idea for BEST came to me last December. I was in Beverly Hills just walking in the rain. There was an exhibition of the photography of Richard Avedon and I'd always been interested in his work so I thought I'd check it out, get out of the rain for a while and then get a glass of wine. I remember a huge white wall with at least 60 different photos–all figurative stuff, all different. It was a very '60s approach. I write, play and sing music but I'm also very interested in art. I don't really see the difference in the different mediums; literature, painting, acting, etc., it's all expression. I saw the pictures presented that way and considered what its counterpart would be musically and BEST came out of that. I didn't want to do the obvious thing and simply put out a "Greatest Hits” record as anyone can do that through iTunes. Just download a play list and hey, "presto.”
This collection is called BEST because it's my best. It's me putting together my favorite work and it's totally subjective; I had no one to answer to but myself. It was, I have to say, great fun. I re-sang "Missing You” and "Back On My Feet Again” as the lyrics and melodies had been written literally hours or at most a day before recording the originals so long ago. I always felt I could "do” them better and bring something to them that I'd missed, update the production and make them more vital. And besides, a retrospective was a nice way of looking at my work. I wanted to connect the dots as much for myself as for anyone who might hear it.
I set about the task at hand on my return from England on New Year's Eve. I'd been making lists over the holidays and decided to simply follow my heart. There was no way I could exclude "Bluebird Café” or "Suicide Life.” I also wanted to add live tracks from my great live band–Tim Hogan (bass), Kerri Kelli (guitar) and Rhondo (drummer)–and I remembered I had a steaming unreleased version of "Every Time I Think Of You” from last year that was so real it bordered on '60s soul music. My duet with Alison Krauss on "Missing You” was important to me on a profound level as it showed my love for country, bluegrass and in fact, Alison, whilst "Rough and Tumble” was pure blues rock."

INTERNATIONAL RELEASE FOR ELECTRIC GUITARS DUE MAY:
When Danish rock n' roll band Electric Guitars released their debut album last year, it caused quite a stir in their homeland - to such an extent that it even made the news on national television. Now the album is ready for international release May 26. The two guitar virtuosos behind Electric Guitars, Soren Andersen and Mika Vandborg, had succeeded in bringing ten of the best Danish guitarists of all time on one track, called 'Hero of Mine'. A homage to the electric guitar and some of the Danish legends who have played it. On the 10 minute long track you can listen to solos by Tim Christensen of Dizzy Mizz Lizzy for instance, Jacob Binzer of D-A-D, Billy Cross who played with Bob Dylan in the late 70s and not least Franz Beckerlee of the legendary 70s Danish rockband Gasolin' - as well as, naturally, Andersen and Vandborg themselves.
The track is an historic event, masterminded by two of the hottest Danish guitarists, who started performing together as Electric Guitars in 2012. Their shows were such a success that the next logical step was to work on an album. The result of which included 'Hero of Mine', took Denmark by storm, and it's now seeing a release in the rest of Europe and USA, followed by a tour in Germany.
Although the self-titled album by Electric Guitars is the band's debut, these two guys are far from rookies. Soren Andersen is perhaps best known as the guitarist in White Lion (Mike Tramp's former band) and for the five last years as the guitarist in Glenn Hughes band (former vocalist and bassist of Deep Purple). In fact, Electric Guitars were chosen as warm up band for the recent Deep Purple concert in Denmark.
Over the years, the two self-proclaimed guitar nerds, have been in countless bands, appeared on dozens upon dozens of successful albums in Denmark, with groups like Gnags and Love Shop. They have also released their own solo albums; one of such by Mika Vandborg included the former front-man from The Darkness, Justin Hawkins. Add to that Soren Andersen's appearances with Marco Mendoza, Dave Mustaine, Billy Sheehan and Tommy Aldridge, and one can quickly see that the these two incredible guitarists have worked with their fair share of talents artists.
However, now it is time for the duos own version of straight forward, back to the roots, no nonsense classic rock with strong melodies - recorded with drummer Morten Hellborn and bassist Peter Kjřbsted. This is 4 guys, playing 12 maximum energy rock 'n' roll songs, with the electric guitar in the center stage... Get ready to turn up your amplifier!

TSO'S TOMMY FARESE TO PRODUCE NEW PROG-ROCK ALBUM:
Founding Trans-Siberian Orchestra member Tommy Farese to produce new album by prog-rockers Wizards of Winter. Tour to include both Farese and Tony Gaynor. Wizards of Winter, known for their high energy and classically-infused-rock concerts, are excited to announce that they are in the midst of recording the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed Tales Beneath a Northern Star album. To help bring this new epic project to life, the band enlisted legendary vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Tommy Farese to produce the album. Tommy also has plans to lend his voice to a song or two to the recording.
Known throughout North America for his long and storied connection to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Farese helped found that act and served as lead vocalist and guitarist for their first 13 tours. In addition to fronting the act for over a decade, Farese also starred in TSO's TV movie “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve”, playing the role of the runaway's father.
After touring with The Wizards of Winter as a special guest this past winter, Farese says “I'm excited to work with this great group of musicians again. Producing is one of my favorite things to do. They asked me on board to produce and sing a song or two and it was an instant 'yes'.”
Though full tour details have not yet been announced, both Farese and founding TSO narrator Tony Gaynor – both of whom guested with the Wizards last year – will join the band once again for their 2014 Winter Tour. Says Gaynor: “2014 is proving to be a very rewarding year for me, after the last few years of nothing but pure survival. With so much on my plate already this year, I was honored to be asked by the Wizards to join their 2014 tour at the end of the year. I had such a wonderful time this past year touring with this group of talented musicians, who do it strictly for the love it. There is no better feeling for an artist, then being at the beginning of a project, and watching it grow. They have opened their hearts to me and always made me feel welcomed. I am looking forward to raising the bar even higher on my abilities and bringing some new and exciting energy and showmanship to the table. I'm getting older, but thank God I'm getting better!”
"The Wizards are extremely honored to have Tommy and Tony accept our offers to join us on tour again this year." stated Scott Kelly, leader of The Wizards of Winter. "As Tony states, when we first came together with these talented gentlemen last year, it just felt right. We worked together as if we had been old friends for many years. The overwhelmingly positive response we received from the fans was validation that we had a good thing going here. I am excited for the chance to get to do it again for a larger and broader audience. In our view, having Tommy assist us on the production of the album seemed to be a natural extension of this joint success. He has such a great ear and is such a stickler for detail that I know his input will help us deliver a better end product. All of us are very happy that he graciously accepted our offer to be our producer".

SKID ROW 'UNITED WORLD REBELLION – PART 2' EP OUT AUGUST 5:
April 14, 2014 -- Skid Row--Johnny Solinger (vocals), Scotti Hill (guitar), Rachel Bolan (bass), Snake Sabo (guitar) and Rob Hammersmith (drums)will be a long way from home throughout the summer. First, the band is teaming up with Black Star Riders for a brief tour of the west coast, which starts May 8 in Tucson, AZ at the Rialto Theatre. Once that concludes on May 16, the band will play headlining shows across the U.S., including a stop at the legendary Whisky a Go Go in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, May 17 and an appearance at this year's Rocklahoma festival on May 23 in Pryor, OK. They'll then head to Europe in June for various festivals, including the Download Festival in Donington, England on June 14. Once the U.S. trek concludes in July, Skid Row will head to Kostrzyn, Poland, where they've been invited to headline one of the biggest festivals in Europe, the Woodstock Festival Poland on July 31.
All of this touring is getting their loyal fans ready for the highly anticipated new seven-song EP, United World Rebellion Part 2, set for release August 5 via Megaforce Records. After a hiatus that started in 1996, Skid Row returned to the big stageliterally--opening for KISS in 2000. Exhilarated to tour with the heroes who rallied them in the first place, the band was reinvigorated by being underdogs who needed to come out fighting to prove themselves. “When we put the band back together, we needed to reintroduce Skid Row as relevant without relying too much on past success,” explains bassist Rachel Bolan. “We wrote songs and hit the road. We sunk our heart and soul into it, letting people know we weren't doing it for lack of something better to do.”
2003's Thickskin and 2006's Revolutions Per Minute were battle plans for hundreds of live shows with new singer Johnny Solinger out front, every night being a hard fought battle to win new fans and convince the old ones. United World Rebellion Part 2 is Skid Row coming out swinging. Rachel and guitarist Snake Sabo tapped again into the potent songwriting collaboration that built the band. Sabo says they were eagerly up to the challenge. “We seem to be at our best when we're faced with adversity. It's us against the world again--and by us I mean the band and the fans who stick with us and carry the Skid Row torch without fail.”
New plans came together in an Atlanta recording studio. But it's a different time, a different industry, so they decided to record a series of EPs. “The idea really appealed to me,” says Bolan, “especially with the constantly changing musical climate. I like the idea of a steady flow of new music, as opposed to releasing a full-length album then riding it for the next two years.”
That guerrilla burst of recording a concise EP fostered a focused intensity that was liberating, says Snake. “The pressure seemed to be lifted. That immediately set me at ease and it became really exciting.”
Exciting and potent, prompting Solinger to exert the full range of his ability. “The third time in the studio as the voice of Skid Row was the proverbial charm, and the proof is in the tracks. United World Rebellion Part 2 is the most meaningful work I've done with the band. It's definitely the most I've been challenged, vocally.”
That sound is rambunctious exuberance. They got older, but Skid Row never really grew up. United World Rebellion Part 2 is still the youth gone wild, their musical spark still burning gasoline.

This album has a total listening time of approximately 44 minutes. AUSTRALIAN GUITAR HERO JOE MATERA TO HIT THE EUROPEAN ROAD IN MAY:
Following on from his critically acclaimed 2012 album, 'Creature Of Habit', guitar hero Joe Matera released a new set, 'Terra Firma', via W.A.R Productions, in Europe in January, 2014. The Australian musician will be heavily promoting the album in May, 2014 during The 'Terra Firma' Europe 2014 Tour which will include shows in Austria, Germany, Poland, The Netherlands and Czech Republic. The tour kicks off in Linz, Austria on May 2nd where Joe will headline The Akustik Festival 2. The German band Seeking Raven will perform as support act on several dates.
Joe of course is very excited about his upcoming tour: "I am looking forward to promote 'Terra Firma' on stages in Europe. Can't wait to perform live for the first time ever to all my fans and new audiences in Poland, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. It's going to be rock 'n' roll!"

The roots of 'Terra Firma' stretch from this highly emotional period and the resultant song-writing display greater depth, maturity and emotive resonance than his previous work. Joe – whose reputation is principally as a creator of guitar driven instrumentals – has also responded to calls from his fans to add more vocals in the wake of 'Fallen Angel' and two new songs on the collection, 'Shining Star' and 'Tell Me Why' feature his voice and new lyrical twists.
'Shining Star' is the lead-off single and two versions of the song are found on the album. The 'single' version is a no-holds-barred full band rock attack that features a guest appearance from The Sweet's Pete Lincoln, on bass. In addition, there is a relaxed 'acoustic' version also featuring Lincoln alongside another of Joe's great friends, Smokie's Martin Bullard on keyboards.

This week on The Double Stop guitarist Ronny Jones shares his story. Ronny was in the band Mac Meda with Robin Crosby (Ratt) and Rob Lamothe (Riverdogs) and two of their songs (I'm Insane and Scene of the Crime) appeared on Ratt's smash album "Out Of The Cellar"ť. Ronny and Rob were co-writers of the tracks, but never given credits on the album. Ronny explains the lawsuit that followed, as well his next band, Black Bambi, which had their debut album produced by Beau Hill, but never release due to politics at Atlantic Records. Very different than any of my past episodes, but it is a pretty important story of the dark side of the 80's music biz. thedoublestop.com/ep-11-ronny-jones-mac-meda-black-bambi-cocoa-blue

RON KEEL PERMIT TIME PERFORMANCE AT BUNDY RANCH: Ron Keel is Proud to Announce a Prime Time Headline Performance at the Bundy Ranch Patriot Party Friday April 18.
Most Americans – and many around the world – are familiar with the controversial situation surrounding the Cliven Bundy family in Nevada and their recent and ongoing confrontation with the U.S. government in regard to 'grazing rights' and the paramilitary invasion of Mr. Bundy's land which extends to the desecration of that land, the confiscation of his cattle, and the violations of his family's constitutional rights. "As an American, as a patriot, as a citizen of the state of Nevada, and as a business owner I strongly support Cliven Bundy, his family, and what they're fighting for," proclaims Ron Keel. "It's the ranchers, the farmers, the truckers, the construction workers, those men and women on the assembly line – it's the working class that keeps this country strong, and we have to either stand together or fall forever. I'm honored to be asked to sing at the Bundy ranch for this event and I intend to sing my songs, speak my mind, and eat some Bundy beef – thanks to Mr. Cliven Bundy and his family for inviting me to participate in this historic occasion."ť ~Ron Keel.

TESLA ARE BACK WITH A NEW ALBUM SIMPLICITY OUT IN EUROPE IN JUNE ON FRONTIERS: Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of Tesla brand new studio album entitled Simplicity on June 6 in Europe.
The Sacramento Rockers are back with 14 new songs offering a ride of energy that doesn't come easy for a band of rookies much less a band whose been doing this for over 20 years. “Simplicity” is Tesla's seventh all original studio album which follows a 6-years creative break from the release of the previous album “Forever More”.
After a string of shows in the USA in 2013, the band went back into the studio in early 2014 and came out with a new album, which goes straight back to the Tesla roots. The band worked and produced it as they did with “Into the Now”, their successful come-back album from 2004. Helped by the legendary Tom Zutaut who was the man behind the best Tesla albums, this new album rocks from start to finish, showing a variety of emotions where each song has its own twist--not sounding like another.
The first new song off the new album "Taste My Pain", was released last summer digitally via iTunes and Amazon. The track was recorded during a two-day (June 5-6, 2013) session at J Street Recorders in Sacramento. The new song is, according to the band, "A heavier song with a hard-driving beat and Tesla trademark blazing guitars."
It is possible to stream it now following this link: youtu.be/cqHzkUIvL-8.
Guitarist Frank Hannon says about “Simplicity”: “I must say that this new Tesla album is really gonna be awesome. We went in more prepared with the songs and ideas way more than Forever More, and the style is pure Tesla back to our roots. I truly believe you guys are gonna love it!”
“The opening track is called MP3”, continues Hannon “and starts off with an opus intro that orchestrates into a heavy slow groove with lyrics about technology and how we miss simplicity, vinyl albums, family values...and has a heavy ass riff! Then we segue into a rock n roll song called Ricochet that talks about uncle Ted...can't wait to play this stuff live!”
Simplicity in the Frontiers version released across Europe, will include the following songs: MP3; Ricochet; Rise and Fall; So Divine...; Cross My Heart; Honestly; Flip Side!; Other than Me; Break of Dawn; Burnout to Fade; Life is a River; Sympathy; Time Bomb; 'Til that Day; Burnout to Fade (writing demo version)* / *Bonus track.
Tesla: Jeff Keith: Lead Vocals; Frank Hannon: Guitars, Vocals, Piano, Bass; Brian Wheat: Bass, Vocals, Piano; Troy Luccketta: Drums and Percussion; Dave Rude: Guitars, Vocals, Bass.
Produced by: Tom Zutaut and Tesla Mixed by: Michael Wagener.

The AOR scene in the late eighties was a thriving hive of activity. At the turn of the new decade, the likes of Mitch Malloy, Paul Laine, Firehouse, Tyketto and Talisman were all signed up and ready to make an impact on the genre. Everybody wanted an AOR band, and Polydor records were no exception. Having been fairly successful in the U.K with the likes of Magnum and Little Angels, the label had set their sights on Seven, a relatively unknown act from Bournemouth.
The roots of the band originally began in South Africa in an outfit called Face To Face. Both Keith McFarlane and Simon LeFevre (and his brother John) had enjoyed considerable success over an eighteen month period, releasing several singles and one album, before dissent in the ranks saw the young band split up. Meanwhile, a young Mick Devine was plying his trade as a drummer in the band UC27. With both McFarlane and the LeFevre brothers returning to the UK, it was decided after several months to put the band back together, but base it in the UK, as Mick Devine explains, “I took a brave leap leaving South Africa, as I hadn't met Simon, John or Keith previously. We were originally based in Woking, but after meeting Mike Parker (our initial Manager – now deceased) at a talent show, we moved to Bournemouth. I was initially approached by John to drum with the band, but they thought I was a much better singer than drummer and realised I needed to come out from behind the drums and become the lead singer.”
A quick name change ensued and Seven was born. When John Wolff (The Who, John Parr) joined Parker to co-manage the band, they soon secured a support slot on the first nationwide tour of Brother Beyond. It was from here, via Phil Schofield and a record exec's wife, that things took a turn for the better as Devine recalls, “Having picked up valuable live experience (and a sizeable fan base) on the Brother Beyond tour, we attracted Phillip Schofield's attention who started to play our demo's on radio one. Whilst on tour, the head of Polydor's wife and kids came to one of the shows and the story goes that she went home and told her husband that he needed to sign us,” laughs Devine. “That combined with the touring, fans and Phil's plugging, a deal was offered and as a bit of media hype, Philip Schofield was on hand to witness the record deal signing.”
Heading out on the road, they supported an eclectic variety of acts that included the likes of Jason Donovan, Richard Marx, The Monkees and a second stint with Brother Beyond. It's a time period that Devine is keen to reminisce about, “Even though they were out and out pop gigs, we loved the crowds and the noise. We went from pubs to opening to 3000 screaming fans in Southampton. It is a very addictive adrenaline rush. We got to play all the top venues, which were fantastic; including Wembley Arena, the NEC, BIC, SEC and even the Royal Albert Hall. The Richard Marx tour was definitely the best for us with a more grown up audience we were able to rock it up and truly be ourselves. It went down really well!”
Entering the recording studios, with John Parr at the production helm, they recorded two very strong singles in the shape of “Inside Love” and “Man with A Vision. One of the myths about Seven is that they recorded a full album, but that it was shelved by Polydor after the band were dropped. It's a myth that Devine is quick to dismiss, “We never had an album deal. We were signed for two single releases and we were then dropped. We had more than an albums worth of material, mostly consisting of really good quality demos, having recorded at some great studios including a number of weeks at Rockfield.”
Fast forward to the present day and bass player, Pat Davey, was working alongside Robert Hart on an Escape Music album when the name Seven cropped up in the conversation. It would seem that Khalil Turk was a big fan, as Devine explains, “Yeah, back in the day Khalil had really loved the band and he got in touch to see if we would be interested in finally releasing an album with the original line-up,” gushes the excited singer. “As we are currently living in different countries (Keith & Simon are in South Africa, Myself, Pat & Oz in the UK), Khalil put us together with Lars Chris (fantastic Swedish Hard rock guitarist and producer) who is producing the tracks from Sweden and then sending tracks to SA & the UK for each of us to add our individual parts. The sound is definitely fresher and harder and more up to date, giving the band, the edge it needed back in the 80's.”
This brings us up to the present day and we are all now waiting with excitement for the Seven album to finally be released. One thing for sure, it has been worth the wait.
HAPPY EASTER: Have a safe and Happy Easter break folks. See you back here Tuesday. I'm recovering from triple hernia repair surgery from earlier in the week, so hopefully the long weekend will be enough to get me back in shape. Lots to come next week and in the weeks ahead!
"Three Lions" is the sensational eponymously titled debut album from this new British 3 piece rock band. The band consists of Vinny Burns (Dare, Ten, Asia) on guitar, Greg Morgan (Dare, Ten) on drums and introduces Nigel Bailey on vocals and bass guitar.
"Three Lions" features 12 brand new tracks, written by the band and also in collaboration with producer Alessandro Del Vecchio on 2 songs. Recorded at The Viper Room, Coil Tap Studios in the UK and Ivory Tears Studio in Milan, this album combines massive guitar riffs and great hooks alongside driving rhythms and powerful, yet emotional vocals.
The band was formed when Vinny, Greg and Nigel were introduced by Serafino and Alessandro at Firefest in October 2012. The guys hit it off straight away and immediately set about writing new material for the album. The first single, Trouble In A Red Dress, captures the energy of the band and is a classic foot stomping rock song with an infectious groove, soaring guitars and a chorus you have to sing along with.
The album is made up of songs that were written without an agenda. "We set out to write good songs, the only criteria was that all of us liked them" said Nigel, "Working with Vinny and Greg has been a blast and we were all determined to make the best album possible and are immensely proud of the songs that have made it onto the final record". From the eastern influenced Kathmandu, to the driving power of Hellfire Highway and Twisted Soul, to the heartfelt ballads Made For One Another and Don't Let Me Fall. This album delivers passionate performances from the guys. Vinny's trademark guitar work is, as you would expect, filled with emotion and feel. "I wanted to start with a blank canvas for the guitars" says Vinny. "This album allowed me to show a different side to my playing whilst retaining the familiar sound and feel fans of Dare and Ten will recognise". "Working with Vinny again has been great fun and Nigel brings something new to the table" said Greg. "This is definitely a record made by a band, not just a studio project, and that really comes across in the songs. We had an instant connection as musicians but also as people and we cannot wait to get out and perform these songs live soon".
Hear The Roar!!!
Nigel Bailey – lead vocal and bass
Greg Morgan – drums
Vinny Burns – guitars, keyboards
Trouble In A Red Dress
We thought we would open the album with a big uptempo song. Let the lions roar.
It's straight in with big guitars and has a really great hook in the chorus.
Great way to setup the album.
This was always going to be a contender to be released as our first single/ video, it sums up the band perfectly. Vinny's trademark guitar belts out some fiery phrases on this opening track. The hook and the huge harmonies on the chorus made this the obvious choice as an opener.
Hold Me Down
A little slower in tempo. We wrote this as a fun summer song. No deep meaning, just a beer in
hand party song.
A fun summertime song, it's all about enjoying good times, good weather and a beer with friends.
A bit more moody. We wanted to stretch things a little more with this one. Soft intro then a big bang
as the song comes in. Big drums. Classic guitar harmonies and a nice throwback to the classic
rock we grew up listening to.
There is a dark side to this song, the intro kicks in with a harmonised guitar melody then drops a little before the track explodes with a massive guitar riff into the main body of the song.
Took things down a couple of notches for Winter Sun. Nice atmospheric feel with a nod to some of
our previous material from past bands.
This was actually one of the first songs that Vinny and I wrote together. It a ballad about meeting the "One" and how it can change your whole outlook on life.
Just A Man
Another nod back to the classic era of the 80's. Hammond organ, Marshall and Les Paul. Big
This song is one of a brace that were co-written by Alessandro (Del Vecchio). I love the sound of the Hammond that really compliments the riff. It has a definite 80's vibe to it.
An interesting groove on this one. Something a little different from us and our previous bands.
Straight ahead rock 'n' roll with a more stripped back direct approach.
This track evolved whilst we were writing and turned into one of our favourites. It's a great track to play live; you can really dig in and give it some! Huge harmonies, an infectious groove and some seriously feisty guitar work.
Two Hearts Beat As One
This was the 'production' song of the album. A lot more space to create the textures we wanted.
This track was also co-written by Alessandro, it's a classic boy meets girl and falls head over heels power ballad.
We wanted an epic feel for this. It was about getting the power of the verse and chorus parts
across both instrumentally and vocally.
This song shows a little of our progressive side. The lyrics centre on the Nepalese capital city, the rich history of the country and one man's journey through it. It shows a different side of our tastes.
Made For One Another
A heartfelt ballad in a classic style. We have used the word classic several times on this album but
we wanted to convey that whole feeling of the era we grew up with. The era when this music ruled
the airwaves. This is the style of music we love so it's hard to sit down and write songs and not be
influenced by what shaped us as musicians and songwriters.
Big, bombastic song for the rock clubs.
A mid tempo song about a letting someone go and then realising you made a mistake. Really catchy chorus on this one.
Don't Let Me Fall
A very strong lyric that we tried our best to wrap in music that would do it justice. Has a nice twist in
the fact that it starts of in what you would think is another ballad but kicks into an uptempo rock
This is a song I started to write when I realised I was going to be a part of this industry. It's a note to not take things for granted, and not to get seduced by the music business I guess. I love the guitar solo on this one, Vinny excelled himself
Title says it all. A driving song in every way. High speed with one foot to the floor, music blasting
and your arm round the woman you love. Great song for playing live and a big favourite of ours.
Kicks in with drums, massive guitars and harmonies and stays that way until the last note.
A straightforward no nonsense rock track! Dual guitars turned up to 11, thundering drums and a sing along chorus. It tips our hat towards some of the classic British rock and metal bands from the 70's and 80's.
Moody guitar instrumental to finish the album and have a different dimension on there.
A really melodic instrumental to finish that evokes the feeling of the Mediterranean.

AC/DC OFFICIALLY END SPECULATION: AC/DC has announced that rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young will be "taking a break" from the band he co-founded 40 years ago to address an illness that lead singer Brian Johnson described earlier this week as "debilitating." "Malcolm would like to thank the group's diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support," the statement on the band's Facebook page reads. "In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family's privacy be respected during this time."
The statement made sure to add that "the band will continue to make music."
Young's absence will be felt, both on stage and in the record-making process. The 61-year-old guitarist and his younger brother Angus are the band's core songwriters, and Malcolm deserves credit for providing the riffs that are the backbone of the group's primal brand of bluesy hard rock.
In an interview with the U.K.'s Telegraph, Johnson confirmed that the band will enter a Vancouver recording studio next month to work on new songs. "We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas," he said. "If anything happens, we'll record it."
Without naming Malcolm Young, Johnson said in the same interview that one of the band's members was not well. "One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don't want to say too much about it," he said. "He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap. We've been pals for 35 years and I look up to him very much."
Earlier this year, Johnson predicted that AC/DC would eventually launch a 40-date tour to commemorate the group's 40th anniversary. Despite Young's departure, Johnson is still hopeful they can pull it off. "That would be a wonderful way to say bye bye," he said. "We would love to do it. But it's all up in the air at the moment."
Reports surfaced Monday in the group's native Australia that the quintet was on the verge of announcing its retirement due to one band member's serious illness. But insiders told Billboard a day later that there was no truth to the rumor. The group's management and Columbia Records, its current label, declined requests for comment.

Dalton “Hey You” (Bo Lindmark, Anders Lindmark, Ola Lindström, Leif Westfahl, Mats Dahlberg, Anders Livĺg. Text: Mikael Larsson)
Put together in 1985 by the former Treat drummer Mats "Dalton" Dahlberg, Dalton released two classic Swedish Melodic Hard Rock albums: "The Race Is On" (1987) and "Injection" (1989), before disbanding in the early 90's. Now some 20 years later the magic is back and you can enjoy the first cut off the forthcoming album “Pit Stop” planned for a release in the fall.

KIX SIGNS WITH LOUD & PROUD RECORDS; FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 19 YEARS DUE:
April 16, 2014 -- Look for Kix-- Steve Whiteman (lead vocals), Jimmy Chalfant (drums, vocals), Ronnie Younkins (guitars), Brian Forsythe (guitars) and Mark Schenker (bass)to release their first new album in almost two decades on July 22, thanks to their new partnership with Loud & Proud Records. What makes the project even more exciting and anticipated is that the album features the band's original line-up, with the exception of Schenker on bass. “The boys and I are so happy that our old friend, Tom Lipsky, has invited us to join the Loud & Proud family,” exclaims Whiteman. “We worked with Tom and Madelyn Scarpulla on our last studio album, Show Business, and we're looking forward to working with them again with the release of the first new Kix album in almost 19 years! We'll still be coming to a dump near you very soon!”
Loud & Proud Owner & President Tom Lipsky adds, “What I have always loved about Kix is they make rock 'n roll fun. What I love about their new music is that it's pure, genuine Kix music, straight up guitar rock with no compromise. They're not chasing trends or trying to re-invent themselves. They're simply doing what they do best...and now they can do it Loud and Proud!”
Marking the re-emergence of Kix in early-2000's, the band had teamed up a few times a year to test the waters with reunion shows in the Maryland/Pennsylvania, which were very well received. Then in the summer of 2008, Kix performed outside the mid-Atlantic for the first time in 13 years at two of the biggest rock festivals in the U.S. Rocklahoma in Pryor, OK and Rock the Bayou in Houston, TX. The band was hailed by many music websites and attendees as “Best Performance” at both festivals, where they played alongside Sammy Hagar, Alice Cooper, Tesla, Queesryche, Ratt, and more.
As the demand for new music has never subsided and in fact has only increased over the last few years, the band decided that they can no longer ignore the overtures from their fans and are currently recording new KIX songs. The new album, due out summer 2014, is produced by Taylor Rhodes, who last worked with Kix on 1991's Hot Wire album. Rhodes has also written hit songs for Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne and Journey.
Stay tuned for new album news, which will be announced in the coming weeks, and check out KIX on tour at any of the following stops (with more to be announced soon):
FOREIGNER'S DOOR OPEN TO GRAMM:
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Mick Jones revealed that the first new songs by him and co-founding Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm in 20 years might hit the public next year. The pair's June 2013 performance of "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "Juke Box Hero" at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame in New York City marked the first time the pair has performed together in a decade after Gramm left Foreigner for a second time.
Jones has rekindled a relationship with Gramm, and revealed to Classic Rock magazine, that the duo, who wrote most of Foreigner's classic hits together, might be teaming up one more time, explaining, "Lou told me a few weeks ago he's discovered a few songs we were writing in the '80s, but never quite finished. We might take time next year to bring a couple of those out of the vaults. . . It's a question of wading through them and finding a cassette machine to play them on."
When asked if a reunion — which would sideline current lead singer Kelly Hansen — would be unfair, Jones was quick to point out: "Kelly has dedicated everything to the band. He's phenomenal. So anything I do will be sensitive to that. If Lou and I do something, it'll be inclusive. No way will he replace Kelly.”
Jones was asked what shape a Lou Gramm / Kelly Hansen Foreigner show might take, and he explained, "Something special where the old members can be involved. That would be cool. But nothing in the immediate future."
Mick Jones told The Pulse Of Radio that upon forming Foreigner in 1976, he knew that Lou Gramm would prove to be invaluable with a signature voice — with the songwriting chops to match. "I knew he had written, he was a writer too, and always felt that, y'know, it was important that the singer in any band had something to do with, [laughs] obviously, creating the songs, 'cause they're gonna sing them," he said. "Lou came up with some great titles; I think 'Head Games', I think 'Hot Blooded', too. And he developed into a really good writer." Foreigner kicks off its joint tour with Styx and special guest, former Eagles guitarist Don Felder, on May 14, in Wichita, Kansas at the Intrust Bank Arena.
(As posted to Blabbermouth...).
FATAL SMILE - R.I.P.: Fatal Smile's Mr. Y announces the demise of the band:
"At some point in your life you'll have to 'kill your darlings'...and it's with a heavy heart I have to inform you that I'm laying my dear band Fatal Smile to rest...in peace!
I sure know it's a really bad timing with a new album to be released & we just kicked off our first show of the tour last nite & really sorry for letting the fans down that have bought tickets for the shows...

I have come to that point when the answer is no, it's no longer worth sacrificing everything in my life, my heart & soul just to keep the 'FS-train' rolling...It's been an epic journey since I started the band back in 1995 & I had a blast doing it & 'living the dream'...
A million thanks to all of you for your endless support & love during those 'Fatal years' & thanks to all the band members during this time...I will sure keep writing & playing music, that's for sure!!!
Also the new album & last Fatal Smile album "White Trash Heroes" will be released as planned on April 25. A few signed copies of the album & 'special packages' is still available for pre-orders at: gmrmusic.bigcartel.com/artist/fatal-smile.

TOM PETTY SPREADS FULL MOON FEVER 25 YEARS AGO: INTHESTUDIO CELEBRATES ALBUM'S ANNIVERSARY:
Dallas, TX - April 16, 2014. North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the highly contagious music of Tom Petty's 1989 solo masterpiece Full Moon Fever on its 25th anniversary.
Two things happened after Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers' 7th album Let Me Up (I've Had Enough) that would signal the next phase in Petty's illustrious music career. First, the band toured as Bob Dylan's live band. Second, while on tour, Petty would meet and become friends with ex-Beatle George Harrison and producer, former ELO founder Jeff Lynne, setting in motion the supergroup of Dylan, Harrison, Orbison, Lynne and Petty named The Traveling Wilburys.
In between the tours with Dylan and The Traveling Wilburys recording Tom Petty, with the help of producer/songwriter Jeff Lynne, would find magic recording his first solo album, his most successful album ever with hits, “Free Fallin'”, “I Won't Back Down”, “Love is a Long Road”, “A Face in the Crowd”, “Yer So Bad”, “Runnin' Down a Dream” and the Byrd's tribute “Feel A Whole Lot Better”.
Petty recalls to InTheStudio host Redbeard the importance of his producer partnership with Jeff Lynne for Full Moon Fever. “Jeff Lynne is the consummate record producer. There aren't many anymore like that. He really knows what he's talking about and he understands every aspect of the recording and what's going to go on. He also understands the tune, the feel, the performer. All of those things you gotta have in your mind. He just somehow handles it so casually.”
