Angelmilk Records Announcement

Angelmilk Records is pleased to announce a new partnership with Andrew McNeice (owner/operator of MelodicRock.com), who will join the Angelmilk team to help develop the label further.
British based Angelmilk Records (www.angelmilkrecords.co.uk) has to date released the acclaimed Nexx album Another Dawn and recently signed Vox Tempus for a wider release of their debut album.
With a desire to expand the label, but a lack of time to do so, label boss Andy Bramhall approached McNeice, who he felt was in an ideal position to accept a new challenge.
Believing there is always room for a label with a desire to release only the highest quality music, a deal was struck.
McNeice will have a hands on role effective immediately, handling A&R (new signings and project development) and expanding distribution among other things.

Angelmilk owner Andy Bramhall comments: "I am extremely excited to have Andrew working for the label in his role heading up the A&R. Both of us think that there is room for more great music and artists to be developed in and around this scene.
Angelmilk has been kicking about for a year or so now and although we have a couple of projects in the pipeline, it has just been impossible to give the business the time and effort it deserves to be taken seriously, enter Mr. McNeice!
Andrew will be taking care of the day to day running of the label from sunny Australia. I have supported Andrew where I can over the past 2 years and I hope that with both our efforts we can build Angelmilk into a true force to be reckoned with, we are both looking beyond the standard here.
Please welcome Andrew to the team as I have done, and go easy on him while he settles in…stay tuned, its going to be great!!"

Andrew McNeice comments: "I couldn't be happier with my new role at Angelmilk. I must emphasize the fact that it is business as normal for MelodicRock.com. Absolutely nothing will change in regards to the site or the way it is run – with my daily updates and regular features all online as per usual.
This is simply a separate role for me and something that will help keep my creative juices flowing. I am always open to new challenges and after running MelodicRock.com for more than 10 years now, this seems perfectly timed. Staying inspired and focused upon the melodic rock world which I love is vital.
I will however, refrain from reviewing any Angelmilk releases. There is no way I will compromise the integrity of the site and I know Andy agrees with me on that. Angelmilk news and previews will continue to be presented on the site alongside all the other great labels and artists that I work with and help promote.
And further to that, while there is definitely a competitive streak among some labels in this business, it is not my desire to join in that game. With the regrettable demise of MTM Music, I believe there is a vacancy for another quality label to fill the big gap left by them, and present the record buying public with some quality releases that might otherwise not have found a home.
While I am at it, this will be a great opportunity to try out a few ideas I have up my sleeve and perhaps also do things a little differently at times.
There will be a few pet projects planned and importantly, some new talent too, always with the aim of releasing music of the highest possible quality. I talk about these things often enough on the site, so I view this as my chance to put that into action.
Angelmilk has always been a supporter of MelodicRock.com and was one of the few labels to actively sponsor MelodicRockFest last year. They believe in this music and this scene and that's exactly what I am all about. Let the challenge begin!"

Should anyone have any questions, comments, enquiries or submissions in relation to this announcement or Angelmilk in general, they can contact myself via the usual e-mail address: ajm@melodicrock.com.

LAST HOPE FROM HAREM SCAREM:
Frontiers Records is proud to present the final Harem Scarem studio album Hope for release in Europe on July 4!
No other band in the Melodic Rock genre has delivered the goods through such a varied discography throughout their career as Harem Scarem. The Canadian quartet makes no exception to the rule with the band's twelfth and final studio album. After 20 years of activities, Harem Scarem have infact decided to move on to other things.
Hope is therefore their final record for themselves and their fans all around the world: a release which marks the final testament to the art and craft of a legendary band in Melodic Hard Rock.
In band's singer Harry Hess words: “The new album follows in the footsteps of our recent output. I'm sure our long time fans will not be disappointed as all the hooks and choruses are there once again, wrapped at times in a slightly heavier and darker tone."
The result is truly Harem Scarem's most intense, moody and passionate album to date. A top production and a straightforward Melodic Hard Rock sound make “Hope” an unmissable opportunity for all the fans to enjoy the very last studio effort from a legendary band that has written real milestones in the Melodic Hard Rock musical style.
Hope final track listing includes the following eleven songs: Watch Your Back; Time Bomb; Hope; Days Are Numbered; Dark Times; Beyond Repair; Never Too Late; Shooting Star; Calm Before The Storm; Nothing Without You; Higher (acoustic)*
* Exclusive bonus track for Europe.
The album will be released in Europe on Frontiers Records on July 4.

EXTREME MAKE ANTICIPATED RETURN IN SUPPORT OF 'SAUDADES DE ROCK':
First Studio Album in 13 Years / 'Take Us Alive' World Tour Launches In Poughkeepsie, New York on July 29 / All Tickets Go On Sale Nationally Weekend of May 16.

Press Release / Extreme will make their much-anticipated return to the stage this summer in support of Saudades de Rock (pronounced “sow-dodge”), their first studio album in thirteen years. The multi-platinum, Boston-bred band's 2008 Take Us Alive world tour gets underway on July 29th at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and will be anchored by a hometown gig two days later at the Bank of America Pavilion. In advance of the tour, Extreme will be a co-headliner on July 11th at the five day Rocklahoma Festival in Pryor, OK.
The iconic rock foursome – vocalist Gary Cherone, guitarist Nuno Bettencourt, bassist Pat Badger and new drummer Kevin Figueiredo – will be supported by King's X on all North American dates. Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Camp will offer additional support on select dates.
Information on the groundbreaking new album Saudades de Rock-- which was produced by Bettencourt at L.A.'s NRG studios and is planned for release to coincide with the tour--is forthcoming. Fans can expect the same unwavering songcraft and diverse musical approach that made Extreme legendary. Simply put, Extreme's fifth studio offering– which boasts the infectious roar of “Star,” the groove-laden, swagger of “King”, a raw funk rock anthem called “Learn To Love”, and the expressive ballad “Ghost”–just may be its finest hour yet.
As excited as the members of Extreme are by their latest musical accomplishment, they can't wait to take it to the stage. “As much as we enjoy recording, for me, I've always loved playing live for the fans,” Cherone says. “We can't wait to get out there and play this music.”
“We wanted to record as much of the new album as possible live in the studio,” Bettencourt adds. “And because of it, these songs will translate easily to the stage. We're really looking forward to getting out on tour, putting on a show. That's really where the band shines.”
“We always knew Extreme was special,” the guitarist says of the completion of Extreme's long-awaited fifth album. “We always knew it was a matter of time.”
The Grammy-nominated Extreme have released four studio albums to date, plus a greatest hits set. Selling over 10 million records worldwide on the strength of multiple world tours, the group achieved a #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1991 with “More Than Words”. Culled from their 1990 multi-platinum album, Extreme II: Pornograffitti, the disc also produced the Top 5 hit “Hole Hearted.”
Although these two acoustic hits brought the band great mainstream success, they overshadowed the band's trademark sound: a mix of hard rock funk in the spirit and style of their predecessors in Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen and Van Halen. Fueled by Bettencourt's signature guitar flights and Cherone's resonant vocals, the band's socially conscious lyrics set them apart from their peers. In 1992, the band was asked by Queen's Brian May to perform at the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. As the world watched, the band earned considerable credibility within and beyond the hard rock fraternity.

NEW BACK CATALOGUE RELEASES FROM HEART:
(Los Angeles) The next two months will have a whole lot of Heart the superstar rock band, that is with three releases of classic and recent music coinciding with the group's three-month, 40-plus date nationwide summer tour. On May 13, Epic/Legacy will release a Heart twofer set that combines their landmark, multimillion selling albums Little Queen (1977) and Dog & Butterfly (1979) into one eco-friendly package as part of the debut of the X2 series. The X2 set boasts five bonus tracks, including a live recording of Heart performing Led Zeppelin's “Stairway To Heaven.” And the liner notes by critic Michael Hill for the Heart Playlist collection make the case that “You could call Heart the first great indie-rock band” they debuted with Dreamboat Annie on a Canadian independent label and observe how “The Wilson sisters flipped the script on male-dominated rock, fronting a group of guys while never acceding to the role of rock-chick window dressing. Their up-tempo numbers were loud, fast, and economically arranged, focusing on Ann's amazing pipes and some killer guitar licks, but they also displayed a gentler, more hippie-like side that was equally appealing.”
Epic/Legacy will also release a Heart title as part of its Playlist series that gathers 14 of the group's best songs all re-mastered and mp3 ready into an also eco-friendly digi-pak set that includes computer accessible pdf files containing liner notes essays, discographical information, photography, bonus features, and more.
The two packages also coincide with the recently announced June 3 re-release of Jupiter's Darling, Heart's most recent studio recording from 2004 that was hailed as “probably their best album to date” from the influential and beloved band and “the only album you need to buy this year” by England's Rave magazine. All Music Guide praised it as “easily the band's finest moment in over 20 years [that] proves in spades that Heart is a vital and creative rock'n'roll unit and a force to be reckoned with.”
Heart's 32 years of ongoing and consistently high-quality rocking has had a cumulative effect that finds the band's appeal resurging as they make 2008 a particularly active year. The recent appearance by Ann & Nancy Wilson on the Idol Gives Back TV charity special performing “Barracuda” with Fergie powered a sales surge on iTunes for the original track as well as the clip of the song from the show. And since the announcement of the group's summer tour with Journey and Cheap Trick (dates listed below), membership in the Heart fan club (“Heartmongers”) has doubled. On the tour fans will be able to enjoy performances from the extensive catalog of hits as well as songs from Ann Wilson's recent Zoe/Rounder Records solo album Hope & Glory.
The group's many 2008 activities and resurgent popularity suggest that even after 30 million albums sold to date, a groundbreaking legacy and a stature to rival rock's biggest stars, Heart's fourth decade of rocking will be as notable as those that came before.
More info & Tour Date list at: heart-music.com / www.myspace.com/heart.

NEW SIGNINGS FOR SUNCITY RECORDS:
David Moors of Suncity Records comments on the label's latest signings:

"Suncity Records are very proud to announce yet another great signing. This time we have landed in Poland, of all places. Our new signing is a band called Lessdress and they have to be heard to be believed!
Some die hard collectors of Melodic Rock outside of Poland may have heard of these guys before due to their mega rare 1993 release entitled Sex Industry. Sex Industry fetches up to $US250 when it's rarely seen on Ebay and if you think that album is good, just wait to hear what Suncity Records will be releasing!!
Now I know what you're thinking and I'd be thinking the exact same thing. Poland isn't known for its top quality Melodic Rock bands and also the first thing I think of when I hear about a European band is - I hope the singer's accent isn't too over the top! The answer to the question is absolutely NOT!! You would swear black 'n' blue that the singer "Pawel Nowakowski" picked up his accent and attitude straight outta the streets of Hollywood, CA. All songs are of course sung in English too.
The album that Suncity Records will be releasing is Lessdress' mega rare (even in their home country) previously cassette only debut from 1989 Dumblondes. Of course, being a Suncity product you can expect the music has been fully digitally re-mastered and taken straight from the original master tapes, which I may add sound out of this world!! The production on this album is second to none. Not many Hard Rock releases can boost about having better production than this in 1989. Believe me when I say, there are not enough good things I can say about the album. To this day, the Dumblondes cassette still attracts in excess of $US150 on eBay so you get an idea of what the collectors think of it.
I had searched high and low for these guys over the last 3-4 years now and due to the language barrier and a few other things, it has been extremely difficult. I was beginning to think it was never going to happen. But I just couldn't go to my grave knowing that the fans would never have the chance to own this superb album on CD. I guess albums like these are what drives me to keep Suncity Records on top of the pile.
Lessdress are every bit as good as the greats of the scene. When I'm cranking the album I think of the glory days of Skid Row, Slash Puppet, Wildside, Dirty Rhythm, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Shotgun Messiah, Nasty Idols, Slam St. Joan, Barely Legal, Roxx Gang, Bang Gang, Sweet Cheater, Dirty Penny, Swedish Erotica, Smash L.A., Spoyld, Southgang and the Canadian band Jester. I have absolutely no doubt that if Lessdress were in the States back in the Hard Rock boom time, they would have been signed to a major label. They would have blown most of the Sleaze/Glam bands on the strip out of the water."

More news at Suncity Records about more new signings - Sweden's Road Ratt and Hollywood's Masque.
Suncity chief David Moors would like to add: "I would like to quickly take this opportunity to sincerely thank all the fans that have purchased our latest 3 releases in Johnny Crash, Cruella D'ville & Androids. All feedback so far has been nothing short of fantastic!! The next website update will be on May 16 and will feature the artwork for the upcoming CD's - Flash Addict - Live Fast… Die Pretty, Lessdress - Dumblondes, Road Ratt - You Love Us & Masque - Face First. There will also be release dates for the 4-featured albums (which won't be long!! - I promise!)."

BILLBOARD HONOURS IRON MAIDEN:
Billboard magazine, the hugely influential New York based weekly "bible" of the international music industry, is set to feature Iron Maiden in a special supplement contained in its May 17 (street date May 10) issue in recognition of the band's continued and increasing North American and global success.
Running 40 pages or more, Billboard magazine will give an overview of Maiden's current "Somewhere Back In Time World Tour," the band and the key people around them, and their illustrious history as one of the world's premier live bands. Issued the same week as their 'Best of' album Somewhere Back in Time (which is out in Canada on May 13), the magazine will also pay Maiden the unique honour of having the front cover Billboard logo in Maiden font style, marking the first time in the magazine's history that it will not have the copyrighted Billboard logo on the cover.
2008 continues to be a very busy year for Iron Maiden. Due to phenomenal ticket demand, the band returns to North America in May and June as the second leg of their 'Somewhere Back In Time World Tour' before returning to Twickenham on July 5 for their only UK show this year. International News media have been fascinated by the breadth of the band's touring and means of travel on the first leg of their tour (on Ed Force One, the unique customized Boeing 757, which contained band, crew and equipment and piloted by vocalist Captain Bruce Dickinson) resulting in news pieces and interviews running on virtually every national News network from the international markets visited, including CTV, Sky, CNN, Fox, ABC and Globo Brazil.
CNN International, one of the World's premier international News broadcasters, traveled with Maiden on Ed Force One in March through Colombia and Brazil to film live and behind the scenes with the band during "Somewhere Back In Time World Tour." The footage will appear both online and on the CNN International TV channel broadcasts of "Revealed," "a monthly profile of some of the worlds most successful, inspirational, creative and influential personalities" (CNN Int).
Maiden marks the first time that "Revealed" has ever covered a group of people rather than an individual, let alone a Rock band, and a Metal one at that. CNN International is available for viewing online from May 10 at www.cnn.com/revealed.
The Iron Maiden shows in Western Canada sold every available ticket in each market in just four days and the band recently announced that they will be opening the HEAVY MTL event on Saturday, June 21 at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal.
Somewhere Back In Time -- World Tour 08' Canada Summer Tour Dates:
June 3 - Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, BC
June 5 - Pengrowth Saddledome, Calgary, AB
June 6 - Rexall Place, Edmonton, AB
June 8 - Brandt Centre, Regina, SK
June 9 - MTS Centre, Winnipeg, MB
June 21 - Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal, PQ
In an unprecedented move to let the younger fans hear, understand and appreciate the quality of the 14 classic 80's tracks from the album Somewhere Back In Time, EMI launch the unique Somewhere Best In Sound promotion which allows new fans to listen to the entire album at high quality WMA, without charge, at their leisure three times before the download expires. The listener is then given a simple option to upgrade and purchase the album as a full download.
Finally, vocalist Bruce Dickinson is renowned for his many talents. As well as flying airliners and hosting his own rock programme for the BBC's Radio 6 digital channel, Bruce has moved into the world of film and has co-written the screenplay for the forthcoming supernatural thriller Chemical Wedding. This will be released theatrically around the UK at the end of May after a special launch at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17. The film stars Simon Callow as Professor Haddo, a reincarnated Aleister Crowley, who was once dubbed "the most evil man in Britain". WebLink: www.chemicalweddingmovie.com.

BRIAN MAY'S MISSION TO SAVE PLANET ROCK:
Another Planet Rock update for UK readers - this time from Queen guitarist Brian May:
"In response to many of your kind enquiries .... yes, those few words on the Soapbox about Planet Rock DID lead to me getting involved in mounting a rescue operation to save the station. I can't tell you who I am 'in league' with, but I am part of a small group of people who have great hopes that we will succeed in taking over the station, and putting it on a firm footing, for the benefit of its growing audience.
I regard Planet Rock as rather more than just a radio station - it is a symbol of free radio ... radio which is not run by large corporate organisations for the purpose of making tons of money, and has a free choice of what it plays. I'm not going to run down any particular radio station - this country has some talented and dedicated people working in music radio...
But I do feel that, for a healthy climate for music in this country, we need to allow small independent stations to exist alongside the huge FM giants. I listen to radio in my car, one of the few times I am 'in my own space' - and, for me, who grew up with Zeppelin, the Who, Hendrix, Traffic, AC/DC, Van Halen ... The Beatles ..... tell me, where can you hear music from these kinds of artists these days ? You'll have a hard job finding "Kashmir" flicking through the channels in the UK.
DAB Radio has had a brave start, and can provide freedom from domination by commercially minded programming, but it might, at this point, slip between the cracks. I believe this cause is worth supporting ... and will be doing my best to put my money and expertise) where my mouth is ! We hope to be able to make an announcement soon. In the meantime, of you agree with me ... Demand your Planet Rock !! Demand your DAB!
Cheers, Bri."

HAREM SCAREM - THE MELODICROCK ACOUSTIC EP:
I am very pleased to announce that the exclusive Harem Scarem MelodicRock EP is available for sale via Digital Download as of right now.
Last year, Harem Scarem unfortunately had to withdraw from appearing at MelodicRockFest in South Bend, USA. To try and help recoup money lost on non-refundable airline tickets, Harry Hess & Pete Lesperance recorded 5 acoustic tracks exclusively for MelodicRock.com. These 5 tracks were all recorded in the studio late in 2007 and they can be purchased now.

The tracks listing is: Caught Up In Your World (from Human Nature) / Coming Down (from Rubber) / Honestly (from Harem Scarem) / Human Nature (from Human Nature) / If There Was A Time (from Mood Swings).

The EP is for sale for US$7.50 with MP3s encoded at 320kbps. Full Artwork, including front and back cover and lyric insert are included. The download link is a .jpg file, but simply rename that to .zip to open contents of the art folder.
For those that would rather download the files in lossless FLAC or even the original WAV files, then I am happy to provide those. Simply purchase the EP via the regular method, then e-mail me your preferences and I'll advise another download link for those files.
In addition to that - the artwork is also available in PDF format, should that be your personal preference. I believe every angle has been covered here!
That said - if downloads are not your thing, then all 5 tracks will also be part of MRCD5, which is in development for release some time mid-year. MRCD5 will again be a 2CD set, CD1 filled with as many exclusive tracks as possible and CD2 filled with the same - except CD2 will be entirely acoustic/unplugged tracks.

So - to purchase the MelodicRock EP, simply go to the MelodicRock.com MP3 Store, or click on the graphics below.

NEWS REGARDING MATT FILIPPINI'S MOONSTONE PROJECT:
Press Release / Moonstone Project - Hidden In Time is going to be released in May 2008 on Mausoleum Records; it's not a brand new studio album but a revamped reissue of the debut album, originally released as Time To Take A Stand back in 2006.
That new enhanced edition, with a new title, will also feature a brand new artwork by Rainer Kalwitz, already known for his works for Century Media, Metal Blade, Frontiers & more. And a part of 9 tracks featuring guests like Graham Bonnet, Carmine Appice, Steve Walsh, Eric Bloom, Tony Franklin and more, the new release features three bonus tracks featuring Deep Purple men Ian Paice and Glenn Hughes!
Guitarist Matt Filippini says: "It's useless to hide what happened with my old management and old record company. They both contributed to fuck all the things about my 1st album...so it didn't get the right exposure I think it would deserve! Not to speak about the huge loss of money I had for their faults! And it's a pity cuz everyday lots of guys write me to ask where to find the album... Luckily enough my new management did believe in the project and the chance to re-release it again with a brand new package and bonus material. And here it is…while waiting for the new studio album release!"
About the new studio album, yet untitled, Matt is working with his buddy and co-producer Alex Del Vecchio on the final sessions before to start the mix process in June. All the guests taking part and more details to be announced soon. The release is scheduled for winter 2008.

FRONTIERS TO RELEASE RICHIE KOTZEN LIVE:
Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the European release of Live In Sao Paulo, Richie Kotzen's first-ever live album on July 4. With much prompting from fans, Kotzen chose for the purpose a stellar performance from his South American tour in 2007.
Live in Sao Paulo is an absorbing collective blend of Kotzen's songs throughout the years. His live performance reflects the guitar style's that has defined his career as a virtuoso. Kotzen reveals to fans live his true diversity with the rhythmic labours of "A Love Divine" to the poignant ballad "Remember". The performance continually travels between moments of classic-rock song "Shapes of Things", to the uplifting original "Stand".
Kotzen is influenced from such bands as Bad Company, Free, early Van Halen and Cream. They are the inspiration for his songs, but having deep Philly roots Kotzen tends to combine rock with the Motown influences he heard as a kid. "Much influence for my songs comes from the likes of the Spinners, O-Jays, and Curtis Mayfield", explains Kotzen. "Growing up outside Philadelphia and listening to those old soul stations I ended up with that sound being a heavy influence in my writing even though the core of what I do is Rock".
Kotzen burst onto the heavy metal scene as a teenager with a lightning-fast guitar techniques. With his talents, Kotzen has played with some of the best musicians; securing such major collaboration with the band Mr. Big and renowned jazz great Stanley Clarke as well as his own solo projects. "I have been lucky, in the sense, that I have been able to play with guys who I could learn from. The biggest musical lesson for me was playing in a band with Stanley Clarke and Lenny White. Obviously these guys are jazz musicians and I am not, but I learned so much from the time we recorded and toured together. My favourite rock bassist is Billy Sheehan and we were in Mr. Big together for 3 years which was awesome".
Live In Sao Paulo track listing includes: Socialite; High; Remember; Fooled Again; Faith; So Cold; A Love Divine; Shapes Of Things; Doin' What The Devil Says To Do; I'm Losing You; Mother Head's Family Reunion; Stand.

Z ROCK 08 UPDATE:
It goes from bad to worse for organisers of Z Rock 2008. This update comes only a week after Von Groove's appearance at the show was cancelled. Now Black N Blue are out:

"As everyone is aware the credit crunch has been hitting all aspects of the western worlds economy. During the last 9/10 months we have seen events such as Firefest, Progpower, Thunderfest and many others either cut back or completely cancelled. Z Rock 08 is not alone and despite the efforts of the team behind the show this years event has been hit. As of Thursday last week the entire Saturday was going to be pulled, however after consultation with the acts and other people involved the decision was made to stage the show for the sake of the scene, the last thing it needs is another festival disappearing.
We where on target to make a £9000 loss this has been reduced to a possible loss of £3000 by not bringing Black n Blue over for the show. Before anyone points the finger, no tickets have been sold via our site since April 22 that's 2 full weeks and sales from the outlets have been low during that time when they should be flying. To compensate for the loss we will be offering a £5 refund to those who paid the full price for their Saturday ticket and £3 to those bought theirs at the discounted rate. A simple form will be given out on the Saturday for people to complete with details of their ticket no's and such payments will be made when we return to our offices on May 22.
Fridays line up is as advertised and Saturdays remains the same minus Black n Blue, on a positive we are currently looking into the possibility of touring Black n Blue during the autumn to support their forthcoming album."

ECLIPSE ANNOUNCE NEW DRUMMER:
"Since the departure of former drummer Magnus Ulfstedt in late 2006 the drum spot in Eclipse has been empty. Until now when the young gun Mr Robert Bäck from Falun, Sweden stepped in for an audition and totally blew our heads away with his talent. He is one of Sweden´s best kept secrets but we can promise that you´ll hear much more from him in the future. His playing sounds like a combination of all our favourite drummers. Tight, heavy, technical and very musical.
We welcome him warmly to the Eclipse family and we are very eager to present this new leathal combination along with our upcoming next album for you soon. Check out www.myspace.com/eclipsemania for more info."

MANCHESTER LAUNCHES FIRST CLASSIC ROCK STATION:
UK reader Chris Clark was kind enough to send in this report from the recent launch of Greater Manchester's first classic rock music station. This is what Chris had to say:

"Just like to say a big thank you for the news last week regarding the free launch show for the new classic rock radio station in Manchester. Living about 40 miles outside of Manchester, I knew nothing of this until I read about it on melodicrock.com. Anyway I went to Manchester in the afternoon for a spot of shopping and then went to the free gig and got there in time for Lets Zep and stayed until two songs into Bad Company's set. Had to leave to go to the stock car racing which was also on that evening down the road in Manchester.
Lets Zep were good, Salford Jets were also good for old rockers reliving their youth. But Gun were absolutely fantastic, and they nearly shock the place to the ground. Toby Jepson fitted in real well and got the entire crowd going and got them all to join in singing and clapping. Forgot how many Gun tracks I actually still knew after all this time.
Bad Company musically were ok, but sadly the singer had come down with flu, so bless him, he tried to sing but simply was not able to do so properly which was a shame, so it was kind of Bad Company without vocals. Harry James got a big “Harry, harry, harry” chanting when they introduced him.
The day looked to be a complete success and there was maybe 4000 – 5000 people packed in to watch the concert and they even had a big screen TV up showing the gig for all to see."
And for the record - Gun's set list was: Better Days, Welcome To The Real World, Don't Say Its Over, Taking On The World, Steal Your Fire, Word Up, Shame On You.
Gun will next play the "T in the Park" music festival in Scotland, appearing on Saturday July 12.

DAVID GILMOUR LIVE ALBUM DUE:
David Gilmour has announced the release of Live In Gdañsk in September, 2008 on Columbia Records. The album was recorded during the last concert of Gilmour's 2006 summer tour, which was held in front of 50,000 people at the shipyards in Gdañsk, Poland. The concert was the only occasion on which Gilmour performed the tour material with an orchestra, using the 40-strong string section of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Zbigniew Preisner, who was responsible for On An Island album's orchestral arrangements.
Other unique features of the show included the special 6-screen design, created by lightmeister Marc Brickman to allow each band member his own dedicated screen for the edification of the audience; the performance of “A Great Day For Freedom” with the orchestral arrangement of the late Michael Kamen, and a guest appearance by prominent Polish pianist Leszek Mozdzer, who reprised his piano part from On An Island's “A Pocketful Of Stones”.
David Gilmour's most recent offering, On An Island, was multi-platinum around the world, hitting number 1 in Europe, number 1 in the UK and number 6 in the U.S. Best known as guitarist, vocalist and writer with Pink Floyd, Gilmour is also renowned for his solo work and collaborations with other artists including Kate Bush, Paul McCartney and Pete Townshend.

GLOBAL WARNING LANDS MAY 6 BY JON OLIVA'S PAIN:
New York, NY (May 5, 2008)—Locomotive Records will unleash an important Global Warning by Jon Oliva's Pain on May 6.
Oliva—singer/songwriter/guitarist/bassist/drummer/keyboardist—contents himself by just singing and adding some keyboard flourishes on this, the band's third album. The band—drummer Christopher Kinder, bassist Kevin Rothney, guitarist Matt LaPorte and keyboardist John Zahner—smokes through 13 toxic cuts of metallic Hard Rock, sure to please fans of Doctor Butcher, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Circle II Circle, Jon Oliva's Pain and Savatage (the bands Oliva's played in during the course of his legendary career).
He's been warming down in Florida writing this material and fine-tuning it, overcoming an obstacle that would have withered mere mortals: the death of engineer/co-producer Greg “Super G” Marchak. Oliva, who had already survived the 1993 death of his guitarist brother Criss (with whom he formed Savatage) marched on, teaming up with engineers Tom and Jim Morris from Morrisound Studios in Tampa.
As with the last album, Maniacal Renderings, several of the new songs are from tapes that Jon's wife found in an old shoebox. “The new al
