ROCK CHILD

For Tat-Jane Bego and ROCK CHILD, music has always been the most important thing in her life, her desire to create music coming at a very early age. “Since I first grasped the things around me I wanted to create something, some form that would be for ever kind of eternal. Somehow I wasn't interested in things that would satisfy just me or just my need. The first time I heard songs on the radio, like Neil Young, Peep Purple or Queen … I was like 5-6 years old and I fell in love with music. I remember that was the only thing that really touched me deep inside, and left a mark that’s still there to this day.. I was and I am still content that this is what I want to live for and there is no chance for me living any other way. There is not one day of doubt in my heart that this is the only way I can BE.”

The band Rock Child was formed when TJ met guitarist Barry Fischel back in 2003, each searching for the perfect musical partner on in internet site Craig’s List, and it was Barry who named the band. As TJ explains, “That was the way he saw me – almost, only, just a Rock Child.” And together they write and inspire each other to create the music that define the sound of the band. Many musicians come by and help out, current drummer Lev Weinstein now having been around for over a year. “Lev brought a lot of good energy to Rock Child and is an inspiration to the band.”

The guys have been working hard on writing and recording songs for an album which will consist of ten songs and be titled simply ‘Ten’. They have just completed two new songs. “One is the kind of song that we never wrote before. It happened, like many songs between Berry and I, so quickly. It was just very unique feeling and strong inspiration, the kind of thing when spirit takes over and in a couple of hours you have the complete construction for a great song. There are few more songs on the album that happened the same way, such as Pirate Land, Help Wanted and Step on Mad. There are also couple of new songs in that falsetto, which I have such a kick singing.”

While not having a release yet, the band really enjoy playing together, although finding the time to get out on the live circuit isn’t so easy. “Once we make it to the stage, the show is awesome - it's just kind of hard for Barry and I to get on it. We love playing music, writing and recording. I guess we are waiting that our music starts selling, so that people already are associated with the material and the band. So we have a great kick out of our weekly rehearsals - that's for us a real show. We are having a blast and whole building is having fun with us. I guess we are both waiting for the magic hand to create everything and put us on the pedestal, haha. It's truly our main joy of the week.”

As to what’s next for the band, TJ’s desire and drive shine clearly through. “We are looking forward to introducing as many people as possible to our creation.. I always wanted to make something, the form that would compliment time and human kind, to satiate the soul. I really have a kick to accomplish that kind of thing, in any form, in any way, at any time!”
