Artist Bio
Fugitive have been around the scene for many years, and not always as a wholly original act, but rather than hide this fact, the lads openly admit and embrace their past…
“From the very beginning the band set about writing original songs, but with the British music scene demanding more and more cover or tribute bands to entertain the masses, and opportunities for original bands to perform live few and far between, we saw an end to the Original British Rock Band as we know it. Fugitive set out to undermine that way of thinking by stealth…”.
“We have never professed to be more than what we are… a group of lads having a ball playing the music we love, as often as we possibly can. Our aim has always been to promote and perform our original tracks. We’ve found that even in the most stubborn venues, our original songs, amongst a few classic covers, are lapped up by the audience. Maybe playing covers live is seen as having sold out by some, but we believe that after so many years, its given us a stability and opportunity to continue doing what we want to do, which is to write and promote our own music to as many people as possible. Other bands found no outlet for their original songs and fell by the wayside. Fugitive chose to compromise, used their experience to an advantage and are now accepted for their original material everywhere. Where’s the wrong in that?”
“We are very proud of the new album ‘IN TRANSIT’. Named in honour of the many miles we do in the back of one… We’ve put our heart into each track and have come out with a very likeable product! We feel that with this product, we are ready to take a step up, to be performing completely original sets, whenever the opportunity arises”.
Fugitive’s history is traceable as far back as November 1990. The band today of Mikee (Vocal & 2nd Guitar), Ranko (Lead Guitar), Wils (Drums) and Paul Tee (Bass & 2nd Vocal), still sees the original songwriting partnership intact, with the lads continuing to fly the flag for British Hard Melodic Rock. “We just refuse to give up… we can’t ever see a day when we would think about stopping playing… it’s just so much fun, and isn’t that what Rock music is supposed to be about? Our thinking is, if we put in the hours and work hard to produce great melodic songs, we can then have a ball when we perform. We keep it tight whilst joking around and give the audience a real show on stage”.
Fugitive’s live debut came early in 1991, in a smoky room in Crosby, Liverpool, England in front of about 40 people. It was the first in a series of approximately 1,000 shows the band have performed in their career to date. Since then the band has played at many festivals around the country in and out of the biker scene, performing their set to audiences as large as 10,000.
The demand for the band is increasing with appearances on local and world-wide internet radio, and a real honest ‘need’ to play live, Fugitive have proved themselves a relevant band today and promise to remain so well into the next decade. Times change, and since the bands inception, the music industry has seen an influx of 'nu-metal' bands swamp the market. Fugitive stick around and produce fabulous shows that reach across the generations of rockers. Their brand of British Hard Melodic Rock has stood the test of time. “When asked to describe ourselves, our unofficial motto is “Rockin' is our business. Beer drinkin' and hell raisin' is what we do”.
Our influences are British based with a major leaning towards the American sound. This is due to the bands we grew up with… Rainbow, Whitesnake, Thunder, Skin, Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Badlands, Motley Crue, Poison, Wasp, Cinderella, Kiss, Tyketto.. the list goes on… These bands have definitely influenced our own blend of British Hard Melodic Rock.
The success of the EP ‘The Long Weekend’ is proven with radio airplay literally all over the world. The follow up to this EP is the NEW album ‘In Transit’. Signed to CAT Records, the UK’s newest Hard Melodic Rock Label, the bands latest world-wide release demonstrates the melodic power of the band in the studio. The lads continue to write these amazing songs, laced with power and melody, and working with the Producer Nino Errico, the sound is captured brilliantly within this recording. The album is available on CD from all live shows and mail order from http://catrecords.bigcartel.com/ ‘In Transit’ is also available from these world-wide general release download shops.
