STYX AXS-TV Special Premieres March 15

Artist:

STYX AXS-TV SPECIAL PREMIERES MARCH 15; SUPPORTING DEF LEPPARD ON MASSIVE SUMMER TOUR; IN-PROGRESS HEADLINING TOUR CONTINUES

February 24, 2015 ' It's been over two years since a full STYX concert was broadcast on national TV ('Styx:  The Grand Illusion/Pieces Of Eight Live' DVD, which aired on VH1 Classic and the Palladia HD channel).  Now comes time for a brand new live event that's set to premiere on AXS TV on Sunday, March 15 at 8pm Eastern Time/5pm Pacific Time.

The band's show was filmed at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV in front of a sold-out, adoring audience during last year's 'The Soundtrack of Summer' tour.  STYX performed many of their greatest hits, including 'Come Sail Away,'  'Renegade,' and 'The Grand Illusion.'  They even dug deep into their catalog for such fan favorites as 'Light Up,' and were joined on stage by tour mate and former Eagles guitar legend Don Felder for 'Blue Collar Man.'  Felder's show earlier that same night was also filmed for AXS TV, which will air immediately following STYX's special.  Felder's special culminates with special guest STYX guitarist Tommy Shaw trading vocals and the classic electric guitar licks on 'Hotel California.'

Meanwhile, as STYX's headlining tour continues to work its way across the U.S., the legendary Rock band has confirmed a massive summer tour supporting another legendary Rock band, Def Leppard, along with Tesla.  The three-month trek will launch in June and conclude October 4 in Bismarck, ND at the Bismarck Civic Center.  Combined, STYX--Tommy Shaw (vocals, guitar), James 'JY' Young (guitar, vocals), Chuck Panozzo (bass), Lawrence Gowan (vocals, keyboards), Ricky Phillips (bass) and Todd Sucherman (drums)--and Def Leppard have sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

'Our 2007 tour with Def Leppard forged a friendship that's never wavered,' proclaims STYX singer/guitarist Tommy Shaw.  'It was such an unforgettably fun experience for us.  We've all been waiting for the planets to align so we could do it again.  Well friends, they have indeed aligned!  And this time, those soulful bad boys from Sacramento, Tesla, will be there, too.  What a night of music this will be!
Is summer here yet? Come on!'

Guitarist James 'JY' Young is equally as excited.  "The mutual admiration society between Styx and Def Leppard began in the UK in 1978 when Joe Elliott attended Styx's first-ever performance in Def Leppard's home town of Sheffield, England,' he says.  'Both bands having emanated from working class beginnings, either on the South Side of Chicago, or the Steel Town of Sheffield, England, there is a natural camaraderie and synergy amongst them.  I feel like these guys are long-lost brothers of mine.  It's going to be Guitars A-blazin' and Drums A-poundin' regardless of who's on the stage, featuring arguably the most successful rock band of the late 1980's, paired with one of the most successful bands of the late 1970s, early 1980s.  The ingestion of too much sugar can lead to illness, but 'Pour Some Sugar On Me' is a recipe for healthy smiles and a fun night for everyone!!!'

The Classic Legends of Rock & Folk ‘Super Tour‘ 2015

Artist:

The Classic legends of Rock & Folk ‘Super Tour‘ 2015

From EMERSON LAKE & PALMER
Carl Palmer’s ELP legacy performing EMERSON LAKE & PALMER and more

Carl Palmer is a drummer’s drummer. A consummate professional, a brilliant technician and a dynamic showman, he has thrilled listeners and audiences alike for nearly four decades with some of music’s most memorable bands including Atomic Rooster, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown, Asia and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Along the way his dazzling speed and mastery of the drums, combined with his infectious stage personality, have secured for him a respected place in history as one of Rock and Roll’s greatest drummers.

From WISHBONE ASH original founding member MARTIN TURNER plays the music of WISHBONE ASH.

With millions of album sales and concert attendances worldwide, Wishbone Ash’s heritage as one of the most enduring and best loved British rock acts is assured. Over four decades later, the enduring music of the classic marks of Wishbone Ash continues to delight audiences worldwide through both live performances and a rich legacy of recorded work that continues to be enjoyed by fans old and new. Classic album releases such as Argus, Pilgrimage, There’s the Rub, New England and Live Dates defined the Wishbone Ash sound and have touched the hearts of several generations of music fans. As lead vocalist and key creative force, founding original member Martin Turner was central to the critical and commercial success of Wishbone Ash’s most revered albums, with his passionate vocal delivery, songwriting ability, keen melodic sense and production values being a key ingredient in the definitive Wishbone Ash sound. Martin Turner continues to perform the band’s best loved works with his current line-up. Martin Turner plays the music of Wishbone Ash features guitarists Ray Hatfield and Danny Willson, and drummer Tim Brown and remains faithful to the original Wishbone Ash blueprint.

The Strawbs comprise David Cousins, along with lead guitarist Dave Lambert, and the astonishingly versatile Chas Cronk, who together formed the front-line of the classic 1970s line-up of the band. As they move gracefully into their fifth decade of music making, it is still difficult to categorise the unique sound that has made them Britain’s most successful international progressive folk-rock band.
The band started life as the Strawberry Hill Boys playing bluegrass, before moving into the mainstream by making the first Strawbs album with Sandy Denny in 1967, a year before she recorded her first album with Fairport Convention. The recording with Sandy attracted the attention of A&M Records in Los Angeles who signed Strawbs as the first British band on the label! Strawbs has a devoted fan base that continues to grow on the strength of albums like Grave New World, Bursting At The Seams, Hero And Heroine, and Ghosts, and classic songs such as Lay Down, A Glimpse Of Heaven, and Benedictus.

Frontiers Rock Fest II - TREAT Out, HOUSE OF LORDS In

HOUSE OF LORDS To Appear at the Frontiers Rock Festival II

Frontiers Music Srl announces that HOUSE OF LORDS have taken the place of TREAT in the second day of the Frontiers Rock Festival II which will be held at the Live Club in Trezzo Sull'Adda (Milano) on April 12th.

HOUSE OF LORDS singer James Christian says: 'I am very excited to come to this Festival and I look forward to rock all the fans that will come to the show! It will be a great celebration and party for everyone!' HOUSE OF LORDS are currently recording the follow up album to the successful 'Precious Metal' which is scheduled for release in the late summer/fall of 2015. The band, which features besides Christian, long-time members Jimi Bell on guitar, Chris McCarville on bass and BJ Zampa on drums, will play a set which will include a combination of the classic tracks from the early albums and the newer songs from the most recent incarnation.

HOUSE OF LORDS debuted in 1989 with the release of their self-titled album, a record which is still regarded as one of the best Arena Rock releases of the 80's. The colossal sound, the soaring vocals of James Christian and instrumental capabilities of the band (which featured ex-Angel and Giuffria keyboardist, Gregg Giuffria, along with luminaries Lanny Cordola, Chuck Wright and Ken Mary), were reminiscent of such frontrunners as Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Van Halen and immediately brought the band to the attention of the music media and fans. Two more albums followed up ('Sahara' and 'Demon's Down') before the band went into hibernation until the original lineup came back together in 2000, releasing the controversial 'Power and the Myth', an album which featured a sound leaning more towards Progressive Hard Rock with 70's rock influences.

James Christian decided to go back to the trademark Arena Rock sound of HOUSE OF LORDS, putting together a new line-up with the blessing of founding member Gregg Giuffria. New members Jimi Bell on guitars, B.J. Zampa on drums and Chris McCarville on bass supplied a true powerhouse sound to the fifth studio album 'World Upside Down', a record which caused a real stir in the Hard Rock and Melodic Rock scene and was followed up by the equally impressive 'Come to My Kingdom' in 2008, "Cartesian Dreams" in 2009 and "Big Money" in 2011. The band also toured relentlessly in Europe and the States in support of their releases and have now become a true staple of the Hard Rock crowd among the two continents. Their latest album 'Precious Metal' cemented once again the amazing abilities of this super talented band!

With the special tie that HOUSE OF LORDS have with the Italian crowd we can expect a blazing show offering classic songs and more recent hits. HOUSE OF LORDS will rock the house !!

STYX - In Anaheim, CA - Live Report

Artist:
STYX COMES THROUGH WITH TERRIFIC PERFORMANCE IN SOLD-OUT CALIFORNIA SHOW
By Gerry Gittelson

Melodicrock.com Los Angeles correspondent

ANAHEIM, Calif., USA -- It's been more than 15 years since Dennis DeYoung left the rock band Styx, yet the fivesome plays on -- performing a lot more shows every year than Styx did when their great founding singer was still around.
Styx made their way through Southern California just recently, including a sold-out performance Thursday, Jan. 21 at City National Grove in the shadow of Disneyland, and the capacity crowd was going crazy for all the hits like "Blue Collar Man," "Renegade" and of course "Come Sail Away."

Original guitarists Tommy Shaw and James Young remain, and both have done a good job combating the cruel realities of the calendar. At 61, Shaw, especially, still looks young and fit, and his voice was darn near perfect on "Man in The Wilderness" and "Crystal Ball."
Young took the microphone for "Miss America," proving full well that he can kick some ass, too.

Meanwhile, Canadian import Lawrence Gowan has settled in nicely as DeYoung's replacement -- no easy task -- and though the tenor of Gowan's voice sounds different, he still came through with well-executed versions of "Lady," "Come Sail Away" and "Suide Madame Blue," as all three selections proved among the evening's highlights.

For nearly two hours Styx rocked, and there was never a dull moment. The band has a keen feel for timing with a little choreography thrown in, and it never hurts to throw in a Beatles classic -- in this case, "I Am The Walrus."
Bassist Ricky Phillips from The Babys and Bad English did a fine job holding down the beat with drummer drummer Todd Sucherman, and original Styx bassic Chuck Panozzo even came out to join in for a few songs like "Fooling Yourself."
In all, a triumphant night for Styx, no question about it. The band is still among America's best, and the fact there was nothing offered that predated 1983 or so should be seen as a bonus, not a negative.

No reason to play new material when there are so many classics. It's a good position to be in. Nostalgic? Maybe. Thoroughly entertaining? You bet.

BURNING RAIN To Replace CIRCUS MAXIMUS At FRF2

Artist:
Frontiers Music Srl regret to inform the Norwegian Prog Metallers CIRCUS MAXIMUS will be unable to perform at the forthcoming FRONTIERS ROCK FESTIVAL II, which will be held at the Live Club in Trezzo (Milano), Italy on April 11th and 12th 2015.

Frontiers is anyway pleased to announce that California Hard Rockers BURNING RAIN will perform instead at the Festival and have their show on April 11th.

BURNING RAIN is the band formed by former DIO/WHITESNAKE guitarist Doug Aldrich, together with singer Keith St. John (MONTROSE). The band has released the self-titled debut in 1999, 'Pleasure To Burn' in 2000 and the latest "Epic Obsession' on Frontiers Music Srl. Their sound recalls the big Hard-Rock of the 80's, powered by big hooks, a blistering guitar-work (that has become a signature of Aldrich) and that typical 'Bluesy' groove.

The boys have learnt a trick or two from the various bands that they have been involved with, and their real home is the stage, as you can experience by yourself catching them live at the FRONTIERS ROCK FESTIVAL II.

This will be the real first time for Burning Rain in Italy, so be there and enjoy your well deserved dose of Classic Hard Rock! More surprises to be announced soon!!!

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN Postpones Aussie Tour Dates

Yngwie J. Malmsteen

The King of Shred Announces new June dates

Due to scheduling issues Yngwie Malsteen Australian & New Zealand tour has been rescheduled to JUNE 2015. Hobart show cancelled.

Previously purchased tickets remain valid for new dates.

Yngwie J. Malmsteen
has been blowing minds across the globe with his incredible guitar skills and showmanship for over 35 years and in June 2015, Yngwie and his band will be returning to Australia and New Zealand for the first time in a decade to strike awe into the legions of guitar fans.

With the release of the brand new 2CD+DVD album Live In Tampa the excitment levels are reaching fever pitch. Tombowler apologies to the tousands of fans who will now be on tenderhooks until June but we are thrilled and genuinly appreciative that Yngwie has been able to lock the new dates in. Quite simply, ten years is far too long since Yngwie and band have rocked downunder and out anticipation for what are sure to be absolutely stunning shows is building like a feedback loop.

The Swedish born, but now US based, guitar legend is venerated as one of the founders of the art of guitar shredding. His neo-classical style and the sheer speed of his playing made him the most notable musician in the genre, and he has influenced a new era of music and guitarists alike.

But Yngwie is not known purely for the speed with which his fingers fly up and down the guitar neck. Yes, Malmsteen's playing is fast, but there's a crystal clarity to each of his notes that few can imitate. From his ground breaking early work with Steeler and Alcatraz, through his time alongside Joe Satriani and Steve Vai as a member of G3, to his more recent forays leading the Guitar Gods there are few that can compare to Yngwie J. Malmsteen

Over more than 25 astounding albums the Grammy nominated Malmsteen has unleashed countless fretboard blistering solos, with both Fender and Marshall honouring him with his own model guitar and amplifier.

Don't miss your chance to see the Master of the Stratocaster live in person, and for those extra dedicated fans there are still a handful of VIP tickets available granting access to an exclusive Q&A session, and for a few very lucky fans the extremely rare opportunity to meet Yngwie J. Malmsteen in person.

'Far from just being a high-speed and volume artist, his deep knowledge of music theory differentiates him from other shredders.' - High Octane Music News

Yngwie J. Malmsteen Australia & New Zealand Tour Dates:
Thursday June 4th
- Powerstation, Auckland, NZ
Saturday June 6th - The Astor, Perth
Wednesday June 10th - 170 Russell, Melbourne
Thursday June 11th - The Tivoli, Brisbane
Friday June 12th- HQ, Adelaide
Saturday June 13th - The Factory, Sydney

RUSH Announce R40 Live 40th Anniversary Tour

Artist:

RUSH Announce R40 Live 40th Anniversary Tour
RUSH TO VISIT 34 CITIES THROUGHOUT NORTH AMERICA IN 2015

Celebrating 40 years, Rush and Live Nation confirmed that the R40 LIVE Tour will visit 34 cities throughout North America this summer beginning May 8 in Tulsa, OK and finishing August 1 in Los Angeles, CA. These not to be missed concerts will highlight four decades of the band’s music. Tickets for the RUSH: R40 LIVE TOUR will go on sale starting January 30th in select markets at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.
Over the course of their amazing career, Rush has lived a lifetime together, providing an influential soundtrack to many of their fans’ lives. Some have been with them since the start, while others have discovered them along the way and delved into their incredible body of work.
To quote Dave Grohl from their momentous induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
“Rush built their following the right way. No hype, no bullshit, they did it from the ground up. Their legacy is incredible and their influence undeniable.”
After 40 years together and 20 gold and platinum studio albums – Rush is ready to celebrate with the most loyal fans in the world by embarking on their 21st tour, one which will most likely be their last major tour of this magnitude. Celebrate four decades of music with three incredible musicians – all in 1 night.

Rush’s vast catalogue includes such classics as 1974’s self-titled debut, 1976’s 2112, 1981’s Moving Pictures, 1996’s Test For Echo, and 2002’s Vapor Trails. Rush released their 20th studio album, Clockwork Angels in 2012 via Anthem/Roadrunner Records. The critically acclaimed collection marked their first studio recording since 2007’s Snakes & Arrows, and debuted at #1 in Canada and #2 on the Billboard 200 matching the highest chart debut of the band’s career. Known for their energetic live shows, the most recent Rush release was the R40 collector’s boxset including live footage spanning all four decades of the trio’s career, including over two hours of unreleased material and a rare performance of the seven-part version of “2112” packaged in an impressive 52-page hardcover book.

Their longevity has served a pop culture renaissance, with the band’s rare television appearance —their first in over 30 years—on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, tributes on South Park and a memorable cameo in the film I Love You, Man. A live review from their most recent Clockwork Angels tour boasted “the power-trio interplay could put guys half their age in the burn ward,” while The Globe And Mail declared Rush as “one of the few bands anywhere that just keeps getting better.” A career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature summed up the renowned rock trio’s continuing artistic vitality by observing, “It’s true that Rush doesn’t mean today what it did in ’76 or even ’96. It may mean more.”

Rush have been recognized with eight Juno Awards, seven Grammy nominations, including one for the acclaimed documentary Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage that also won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. The band members were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994, made Officers of the Order of Canada in 1996 and inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. They have received a star on both Canada’s Walk of Fame (1999) and Hollywood Walk of Fame (2010). In 2012, Rush were bestowed with the highest artistic honour in Canada when receiving the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award. To the elation of their fans, Rush were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

Tickets for the RUSH: R40 LIVE TOUR will go on sale starting January 30 in select markets at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com. Citi® card members will have access to pre-sale tickets through Citi’s Private Pass® Program beginning January 27 in select markets. For complete presale details visit www.citiprivatepass.com. Exclusive Rush ticket packages are available, please visit vipnation.com for package details.

MICHAEL SCHENKER Announces Spring North American Tour

LEGENDARY GUITARIST MICHAEL SCHENKER ANNOUNCES SPRING NORTH AMERICAN TOUR!

Few rock guitarists have as impressive a resume as Michael Schenker does - as he has supplied his six-string talents to such world-renowned acts as the Scorpions, UFO, and the Michael Schenker Group over the years. And it is now confirmed that Schenker will be touring North America come the spring, in support of his killer new disc, 'Spirit on a Mission,' released March 24, 2015.

Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock line-up proves to be one of the strongest that the German guitarist has ever played with, as it features the former Scorpions "Rock You Like A Hurricane" rhythm section of Francis Buchholz (bass) and Herman Rarebell (drums), as well as Doogie White (vocals, formerly of Rainbow), and Wayne Findlay (guitar/keyboards, and longtime Michael Schenker Group member).

The tour kicks off on March 25th at the Rockbar Theater in San Jose, CA (the day after the release of 'Spirit on a Mission'), and wraps up on May 2nd at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA (with special guest Don Dokken on the bill). In between, the tour will go coast to coast, including a performance at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC on April 15th.

“Promotion is definitely the next step,” says Schenker of hitting the road in support of 'Spirit on a Mission.' "Wherever we are needed around the world, we will be there to promote 'Spirit On A Mission.' I want to make Temple of Rock its own entity. Right now it is still using the Michael Schenker platform but eventually I want it to stand on its own feet as Temple of Rock." To get a taste of the new line-up, view the video for the tune "Vigilante Man" here: youtube.com/watch?v=21EaEwU4szU

Undoubtedly, this set of North American dates are the first step towards establishing Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock as a global force.
