RockPages Talks To TRIUMPH

Tuesday, December 2, 2014
Categories:

Rockpages Web Magazine did an exclusive interview with TRIUMPH's bassist Mike Levine in the wake of the 30th anniverssary since the release of their album "Thunder Seven" and Levine didn't rule out the possibility of doing another TRIUMPH album in the future. Here's the excerpt (for the full link of the interview check here: Rockpages.gr - Interviews - Triumph - )

Rockpages.gr: You did a reunion show in Sweden and another one in the States back in 2008. Is there any chance of you doing a full tour and why not record one last album?
Mike Levine: We sit down every couple of months, Gil, Rik and I'and always talking about thee possibility of doing something again. When we did those shows in 2008, everything went so well that we decided to do a full tour. We had booking agents and managers working around the clock to arrange a tour in North America and just when we were ready to begin rehearsals, the recession hit so hard that we all got nervous about the economy and whether anyone could be successful on the road under these circumstances. So, we said: “well, let’s just wait and see how the things will turn out in the coming months and then decide what we will do”. Later on, we just kinda lost our enthusiasm and'well, here we are after 6 years. I am not sayiing that we are not going to tour ever but it’s highly unlikely. As far as recording'I am asking myself: “Does anybody really wwanna hear something new from us?”'I don’t know. Onee thing is certain. If we decide to record once again, it would have to be a bunch of excellent songs'nothing less. We haven’t reached that point yet but as our song goes'Never Say Never.

Bryan Adams Recalls Reckless Success On 30th Anniversary

Dallas, TX - November 25, 2014.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands celebrates the 30th anniversary of Bryan Adams' 80s blockbuster Reckless.

In 1984 Bryan Adams found himself perched on the edge of a Rock 'N' Roll plateau. His third album Cuts Like A Knife had cracked the American Top 20 in sales and, thanks to MTV, Bryan's face was as well known as his rough-hewn voice. It was in November of that year when Bryan Adams released Reckless , an album that produced six Top 20 singles, 'Run to You', 'Somebody', the # 1 hit 'Heaven', 'Summer of 69', 'One Night Love Affair' and the duet 'It's Only Love' with legendary soul singer Tina Turner. The Reckless album went on to sell more than 12 million copies, making Bryan Adams one of the hottest performers in the world.

InTheStudio host Redbeard asks Bryan how, at age 24, was he able to write and produce such a comprehensive international hit album?
,
'It was like one big brain. Everyone was thinking the same thing. And that's what made this record work. Everybody was pulling in the same direction... When you make a record you don't actually think you're making a hit record. You wanna hope people like your music. When we were recording Reckless I never thought it would do what it did. It's just as simple as that.'

Queen's Brian May, Roger Taylor Channel Freddie Mercury Forever

Dallas, TX - November 12, 2014.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands rules the airwaves with rock royalty, Queen songwriters, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor, on the release of a new impressive compilation that explains why fans will love Queen forever.

Queen celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2011 with a hit musical We Will Rock You, a highly successful international tour pairing Queen with Bad Company and Free singer Paul Rodgers, and a renewed sense of more to come.  Much to their surprise, Queen would find themselves on the popular TV program American Idol performing with a young flamboyant contestant, singer Adam Lambert, who would join Queen this year to tour America, Australia and New Zealand with the band selling out arenas everywhere.

Meanwhile Brian May and Roger Taylor embarked on a new project, Queen Forever, a unique undertaking that would bring the iconic Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury, who passed away late in 1991, into the 21st century with classic Queen songs plus three never-released Freddie Mercury discoveries with Queen, the spectacular power ballad 'Love Kills', Brian May's 'Let Me in Your Heart Again', even a Freddie Mercury duet with Michael Jackson, all previously unreleased.

Brian May shares with InTheStudio program host Redbeard the concept behind Queen Forever.

'It's an unusual compilation album really, this collection of songs which are not the most obvious ones, but that we feel crystallize certain moments for us. And the icing on the cake is these extra tracks which really no one has ever heard.'

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour & Nick Mason Navigate The Endless River  With InThe Studio's Redbeard

Dallas, TX - November 11, 2014.  InTheStudio.Net the web home for North American syndicated Rock radio program InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands  wades into the deep end with David Gilmour and Nick Mason of Pink Floyd to sail through their surprising new album, The Endless River.

The initial notice was innocuous enough, a single tweet among millions sent that day last Summer, washed up on the shore like some electronic message in a bottle: Pink Floyd, one of the world's most popular rock bands ever, would be delivering their first album in 20 years containing studio recordings by guitarist/singer David Gilmour, drummer Nick Mason, but also the late Pink Floyd keyboard player Rick Wright, who died in 2008.  For hardcore fans this was the music that had been rumored to exist, but never officially released until now. The questions rushed like river rapids: after telling InTheStudio host Redbeard during two previous interviews that he was 'out of Pink Floyd, and I will stay out', what had changed David Gilmour's mind?

In an in-depth interview Gilmour and Mason reveal the inspiration, motivation, and lengthy timeline for The Endless River ; how it came to be, why it was shelved initially and what inspired the two to finish what they started so many years ago with fellow bandmate the late Richard Wright.

'We could not have made this record 20 years ago. It would have been impossible. I'm very happy to be releasing this material now. It would have seemed very incomplete to me if we didn't put something out.'  -  David Gilmour

'I think on this record, there's an element of homage and a recognition of Rick. It's perhaps making up for lack of recognition prior to this. He's always perhaps been the unsung hero.'   -  Nick Mason

Pink Floyd/ InTheStudio.NET interview program is available now to STREAM at: 'http://www.inthestudio.net/online-only-interviews/pink-floyd-the-endless-river-the-redbeard-interview-david-gilmournick-mason/'

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant Climb 'Stairway...' To Rock History With Led Zeppelin InTheStudio

Oct 28, 2014, Dallas, TX -  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind History's Greatest Rock Bands  host Jimmy Page and Robert Plant on the release of Led Zeppelin IV and Houses Of the Holy in new deluxe editions.

Anyone assuming that Led Zeppelin's allure was limited to the decade of the Seventies, or even the 20th century, simply has not been paying attention: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction 1995; Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award 2005; one-off 2007 London O2 Arena performance that had over six million ticket requests; and recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors in 2012 awarded by U.S. President Barack Obama, proving that the Led Zeppelin legacy and their music has certainly not diminished.

With the second installment of new Led Zeppelin Deluxe Editions,  Robert Plant and Jimmy Page share with InTheStudio host Redbeard the efforts of the band to continue to evolve after three monumental years (1968 -71) together.

'We just did whatever... whenever it was most appropriate, with amplifiers , without amplifiers, in a desert, on top of a Welsh mountain, wherever it was which could be indicative and show what we were all about.'  - Robert Plant

' I wanted to make music that people would respect... I knew it was good, but I hadn't got the faintest idea that it was ever going to become as big as it did... I wanted to do something that could stand the test of time.'  - Jimmy Page

Lillian Axe Guitarist Steve Blaze featured in new The Right to Rock Podcast.

TheRighttoRock.com has issued their latest podcast (episode #179), featuring Lillian Axe Guitarist Steve Blaze. Steve took time out of his busy schedule to discuss Lillian Axe's latest release, A Night in the Temple, as well as what pre-occupies his time out side of the band.    Interview lasts approx. 45 min.

It doesn't get much better than meeting one of your metal heroes. Yeah, we listen to these guys, but when we get to meet them it's can really be an honor - especially if they're cool as shit! Join Genghis & Ragman as they talk about the great Lillian Axe. Why haven't they made it bigger? Tune it to hear the lads' thoughts. Next, Ragman grabbed the Metal Munchkin and headed over to a local rock club to meet with Lillian Axe main man Steve Blaze for another installment of An Evening With... where Steve and the band rolled out the welcome mat backstage to discuss the band's latest release, One Night In The Temple.
