Wednesday, December 10, 2014
Revolution Saints is the newest power trio to arrive on the scene and features guitar skills by Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake), bass and co-lead vocals by Jack Blades (Night Ranger, Damn Yankees, Shaw/Blades) and drums and lead vocals by Deen Castronovo (Journey, Bad English). The album is available for pre-order at Amazon in standard CD at and deluxe edition with bonus DVD at Fans who order the album digitally via iTunes at will receive an automatic download of 'Turn Back Time.' 'It's a fun record. It's not safe. It is a musician's record,' states Castronovo.
Revolution Saints have released an EPK discussing the new project that can be seen here:

Here at I'm going to go through the album Track By Track with our own exclusive teaser Soundbytes!

Back On My Trail – A dramatic album opener that rocks as intended. Upbeat and driven by a thumping beat and some hard edged, but melodic guitar riffs.
Deen bursts through the speakers with power and authority in his own natural tone, which is a combination of the sweet tone of Steve Perry and the power of Jeff Scott Soto.
He lets rip a few notes that simply stun. And his drumming is quickly simply insane. There are drum fills and progressive twists throughout the song.
A terrific guitar solo with numerous flourishes throughout shows what a master Doug Aldrich is, while Jack Blades’ bass truly thumps away.
The song itself is a powerhouse melodic hard rocker that sounds like Journey meets Night Ranger, but with the sonic edge that Doug brought to Whitesnake. Harmonies abound and the chorus is simple, but memorable and gets better with every listen.
The classy song is written, like much of the album, by Alessandro Del Vecchio who also produces and contributes keyboards and piano. This is easily Ale’s most accomplished work to date.
Check it out: Back On My Trail
Turn Back Time is co-written by Alessandro and Jack Blades and is an easy choice for the first single. The feel good anthemic and uptempo melodic rocker sees Deen and Jack share lead vocals, with Deen doing his finest Journey style melodies and everyone joining in to take the chorus over the top.
Some more tasty guitar soloing and an infectious foot thumping beat makes the song a clear winner.
Deen again is a monster on drums. How does he do it? Hear the song in full with the newly launched video:

You're Not AloneAlessandro Del Vecchio’s piano opens the first ballad of the album. It’s only a matter of seconds before the power of this song is on display.
Arnel Pineda and Deen share lead vocals in a very recent era Journey-esque track that features layers of keyboards and rich musical depth.
It’s a big power ballad that reminds me heavily of the more dramatic songs off the LRS album (also written by Alessandro)
It’s a big and powerful ballad where vocals are the emphasis and there’s plenty of them!
Locked Out Of Paradise is a monster melodic hard rock tune. It’s one of the heavier album tracks and is maybe the most powerful song I have heard Deen Castronovo appear on since Hardline. The drumming is stunning, while the vocals are pure Perry-goes-metal.
The chorus gets better and better and the song structure is such that it takes the classic melodic hard rock format, but modernizes it. Doug’s guitar playing is sublime from start to finish.
Another Alessandro Del Vecchio song.
Check it out: Locked Out Of Paradise
Way To The Sun - An acoustic guitar and a soulful vocal greet the start of the next track. Another ballad? Not sure I’m ready for that, but that vocal! Then 1 minute in, the song bursts to life, with the full power of the band in action. The chorus is beautiful – harmony vocals, a powerful drum rip, an authoritative guitar riff.
Neal Schon guests on the track with a typically soulful flurry of guitar chords that is pure Journey.
Interestingly, Deen asked Alessandro to sing the chorus with him so Ale could be on the same track as Neal. That’s coolness for you.
The track continues building throughout, so by this time it’s in full epic mode, with vocals, guitars and harmonies. Beautiful track.
Dream On is a song written by Erik Martensson, Johan and Kris Becker, Alessandro and Jack Blades. The combined collaboration works, as this is a brilliant pure melodic rock stadium anthem, with Deen sounding like a raspier Escape/Frontiers era Steve Perry.
The chorus is pure ear candy and the energy infectious.
Erik Martensson’s writing influence here is undeniable. Melodic bliss.
Check it out - Dream On
Don’t Walk Away is another ballad and to be honest, at first I thought it was too early for another ballad, but once again, that fear is dismissed with the first note Deen sings. Wow, this guy has soul and passion that’s been kept hidden for too long.
The song starts as a soft piano ballad, with Deen and Alessandro featured together until the chorus sees a full band accompaniment. And what a chorus. A hit single in any other era.
A monster Alessandro song that is pure Journey. The end of the song is simply epic and some of the notes Deen hits are insane. This song features some big big vocals and a great guitar solo too.
Check it out - Don't Walk Away
Here Forever is another ballad, but like each slower track before it, it is different once again and stands on its own. I love this track. Soulful, powerful and emotional. It’s more rock then ballad and Deen’s voice is outstanding once again. Definitely reminds me of Journey.
Check it out - Here Forever
Strangers To This Life – it’s time to fire proceedings back up again. Deen goes full Perry for this moody rocker that might have sounded pretty comfortable on Journey’s Trial By Fire.
Check it out - Strangers To This Life
Better World is another upbeat melodic rocker that has a strong European feel and a good mix of Journey too. The verse and bridge-to-chorus is pure Journey, while the chorus is more Euro-melodic rock, with keyboards a plenty. Of course there is a tasty Aldrich solo and some rolling bass thumping from Jack. Alessandro takes a writing credit with Magnus Karlsson on this one.
Check it out - Better World
How To Mend A Broken Heart is a ripping version of the brilliance Eclipse track. This has all the energy of the original and Deen sounds brilliant singing it. That rasp in his voice is a joy! For those that don’t know Eclipse, let this be an introduction to the fabulous Swedish band.

A sparse piano ballad to close the album. While another ballad might not be on the menu for some, In The Name Of The Father is a stunner almost worth the price of the album alone. Deen’s vocals send a shiver down the spine as just his voice and a piano deliver the first half of the song. There’s orchestral backing and then the full band chimes in. Truly a magnificent, epic ballad and the song itself (from Alessandro on his own) is brilliant. Steve Perry would be proud…

ECLIPSE Unleash 'Armageddonize' February 20 via Frontiers

Friday, February 20, 2015
ECLIPSE anticipated new album “Armageddonize” out on Frontiers Music Srl in February
Stockholm-based Hard Rockers ECLIPSE will release their fifth album “Armageddonize” on February 20th in Europe and February 24th in North America via Frontiers Music Srl. Recorded and produced by the band’s main songwriter and singer Erik Mårtensson and lead guitarist Magnus Henriksson, this new release sees the quartet ready to unleash 11 monster slices of melodic, yet hard-hitting, Rock on their ever growing fan base!
In the second half of 2014, ECLIPSE teamed up again to write their new studio album. The bar was set high and the initial goal was to top their latest album and the result was achieved brilliantly with the aptly titled “Armageddonize,” an album where the band rocks from start to finish like there is no tomorrow!
Says guitarist Magnus Henriksson: "No ECLIPSE fan will be disappointed. I guarantee that! Eclipse fans are very open minded and have always embraced the fact that this band is constantly evolving for the better. We have some surprises on ´Armageddonize´ that the fans might not expect. We became better songwriters on each album we did and Erik on this one sings better than ever. It´s incredible how he keeps getting better. I thought we had heard the best from him, but no. You´ll be surprised to hear how damn good he sings!"
With “Armageddonize,” ECLIPSE are showing that they are not anymore the brightest hope for Melodic Hard Rock music, but a truly solid and hard as a rock reality. They are still young, ambitious and full of energy. ECLIPSE music is not a revival, and it’s not nostalgic. Still… it’s by far the best you can have today if you love rock music with energy, great songs, and want to hear a band that has the ambition to be on top of the world!
With the release of their fourth album "Bleed And Scream", ECLIPSE gained a solid reputation and a steady following with this album that took their melodic Hard Rock roots in a more contemporary direction. Producer and main songwriters Erik Mårtensson and Magnus Henriksson strongly improved their skills by writing and producing a vast amount of bands and projects, from the successful W.E.T. albums (together with singer Jeff Scott Soto and Robert Säll from Work of Art) to Toby Hitchcock, Giant, Jimi Jamison, Dalton, Adrenaline Rush just to name a few. This has gained Mårtensson a reputation as one of the top producers/songwriters in this genre today.
Concludes Magnus: "We started as a band with all kinds of influences, but I think on our third release ´Are you ready to rock´, we started to work more on the songwriting and the ´ECLIPSE´ sound finally took its shape. I think you can hear that most distinctly in the song ´How to mend a broken heart´. That style of songwriting is very Eclipse and it rubbed off a lot on the W.E.T. sound as well, particularly on songs like: ´One love´ and ´Walk away´. On ´Armageddonize´ our style is chiseled out and it sounds more Eclipse than ever. We´ve got our own unique sound now. No other band sounds like Eclipse today and we wanna see where we can take this band. I know we´ve got so much more in us. The sonic blast is here to stay!!"
Enjoy an EPK trailer of the album following this link:

"Armageddonize" track listing includes:
1. I Don't Wanna Say I'm Sorry
2. Stand On Your Feet
3. The Storm
4. Blood Enemies
5. Wide Open
6. Live Like I'm Dying
7. Breakdown
8. Love Bites
9. Caught Up In The Rush
10. One Life - My Life
11. All Died Young
ECLIPSE will support the release of the new album with an extensive European tour, which will kick off with a show at the Debaser in their hometown, Stockholm on March 4th. More shows are planned in Sweden, UK, Spain and Italy, where the band will appear at the Frontiers Rock Festival on April 11th. All confirmed dates are available at
Don’t miss the ECLIPSE show and get ready to be "Armaggeddonized"!

PAT TRAVERS BAND Returns with Live Recording of 2012 NYC Show

Friday, January 23, 2015
PAT TRAVERS BAND Returns in January with a Killer Live Recording of the Iridium, NYC show of 2012 on Frontiers Music Srl
Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of PAT TRAVERS BAND’s newest live album entitled “Live at the Iridium NYC” on January 23rd in Europe and January 27th 2015 in North America.
Toronto-born Pat Travers, is truly a swaggering hard-rock axeman - he picked up his first guitar after a Jimi Hendrix performance in Ottawa. His debut album was released in 1976, and while his most successful releases like "Makin’ Magic" and "Crash And Burn" are now more than 30 years old, he never consigned himself to the nostalgia circuit.
In 2012 Pat Travers Band made a comeback with a new lineup - which saw the return of drummer Sandy Gennaro behind the skins - and a new record “Can Do”, released the following year. A great release which saw Travers and his band playing better than ever! In the tour that lead up to the release of that album, he picked the right venue for this celebration of a new live CD, "Live at the Iridium NYC".
Pat says: “The two shows that we played at the Iridium Club in February 2012 marked the first time I ever really felt totally comfortable and “at home” in “The Big Apple”. The people at the Iridium just made us feel like we were honorary New Yorkers. It was awesome.  Having done an extensive European tour at the end of 2011, a Caribbean Cruise Ship gig and a bunch of concerts at the beginning of the year the band was on fire. So being able to record a set at the Iridium in New York City was the perfect venue and time to capture the PTB at their smoking best. We were fortunate to have Jon Paris join us on “Blues Harp” for two classic tunes and he just tore it up and showed us all how the Blues is really done”.
Presenting all the highlights of his career and combining the individual talents with the chemistry of being on the stage, you can feel an energy that is tangible on this recording, an enjoyment that is infectious, and, quite frankly, you owe it to yourself to catch this band whenever and wherever you can.
Enjoy an EPK trailer of the album following this link:
“Live at the Iridium NY” tracklisting includes: Rock And Roll Susie; Gettin’ Betta; Crash And Burn; Heat In The Street; Josephine; I’ve Got News For You; Ask Me Baby; I La, La, La Love You; Lone Wolf (Kirk solo) / Red House; If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day; Spoonful; Black Betty.
Pat Travers: Guitar, Vocals
Kirk McKim: Guitar, Vocals
Rodney O’Quinn: Bass Guitar, Vocals
Sandy Gennaro: Drums
Jon Paris guest on “Blues Harp” on “If I Had Possession Over Judgment Day” and “Spoonful”.

Remastered/Expanded Version Of JUDAS PRIEST'S Classic 'Defenders Of The Faith' Album Announced

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

New York, NY - December 10, 2014 - Coming off an era which saww several Judas Priest albums that have gone down as some of the greatest in the entire history of heavy metal (namely, 1980's 'British Steel' and 1982's 'Screaming for Vengeance'), the band from Birmingham knew that their next release had to 'deliver the goods,' to cement their standing as the leaders of metal. And deliver they did, with their platinum-certified 1984 release, 'Defenders of the Faith,' which spawned such headbanging classics as 'Freewheel Burning,' 'Jawbreaker,' 'The Sentinel,' 'Some Heads Are Gonna Roll,' and 'Love Bites.'

And on March 10, 2015, a newly expanded three-CD version of the album will be unleashed via Columbia/Legacy, which includes the original ten-track album remastered by producer Tom Allom, and a complete live recording from the 'Defenders' tour, recorded at the Long Beach Arena in California, on May 5, 1984.

The 21-track concert (split up over two discs) perfectly balances the then-new material from the group's ninth studio offering overall, including such classics as 'Metal Gods,' 'Breaking the Law,' 'Sinner,' 'Electric Eye,' 'The Green Manalishi (With the Two-Pronged Crown),' 'Victim of Changes,' and 'You’ve Got Another Thing Coming,' among many others.

As the band states in the liner notes to the reissue, "It's 30 years since we released 'Defenders of the Faith' - we're very proud to say it has become a classic that's beloved by Priest fans throughout the world"

Judas Priest continues to 'defend the faith' to this day, as the group recently issued their seventeenth studio album, 'Redeemer of Souls,' which sees the band's popularity amongst metalheads remain as strong as ever, as it debuted higher than any other previous Priest release (at #6 on the Billboard 200). And on the group's current tour, quite a few classics from 'Defenders' are being performed for the first time in years.

And soon, fans will get a chance to re-experience vintage Judas Priest, with the 'Defenders of the Faith' reissue.

MOXY Signs With Escape Music
Canadian classic hard rockers MOXY signs with Escape Music to release the 40th Anniversary CD+DVD in Europe/UK. A release is scheduled for March 2015.

The MOXY 40th Anniversary package will include: Live DVD/CD from the Sound Academy in Toronto as well as a Re-Record of the best of from the first 3 albums: MOXY I, MOXY II and Riding High.
This is what founding member Earl Johnson had to say: It has been a long career for MOXY and what better way to celebrate the music for our 40th anniversary then with this unique package which will be made available through Escape Music in 2015. It gives me great pleasure to see these classic songs come to life with some fresh blood and a brand new recording. We didn’t just re-master the songs like a lot of people are doing today but instead we stripped them down, built them back up and re-recorded them to be more contemporary sonically with the recordings of today.’

When MOXY first exploded onto the scene in 1974 with their hit song ‘Can’t You See I’m a Star’ They were destined to become part of the alumni of heavy hitting Canadians making a mark in the U.S.A. MOXY renegotiated a new contract with Polydor of Canada for distribution in affiliation with Mercury Records who reissued the self-titled debut album in North America and worldwide in 1976.
Just a year after the first album for Canadian fans, it was just three short months later that the reissued copy of the first MOXY album was released in the U.S., MOXY II received international press coverage for the band. Most reviews predicted success for the band and comparisons were made to AerosmithRush and Deep Purple.MOXY II was also highly acclaimed on its release by Geoff Barton of the UK music publication Sounds Magazine, who made the album available to its readers for the special price of only £1.50. Geoff Barton would later refer to MOXY as the Canadian Led Zeppelin.
MOXY saw success touring the U.S. with the likes of such artists as BostonStyxAC/DCBlack Sabbath and Rainbow just to name a few.

Mr. Big will celebrate 25 years as a band with a huge Japanese only exclusive box set to be released on ***NEW DATE*** JANUARY 28.
Details of this 18CD + 2 DVD set have been sketchy so far, but I have uncovered a little exclusive information!
First of all – the label blurb reads:

Japanese original release. Features hardcover packaging (30cm x 25cm) with a slip case.

One other description: “precious sound, live recordings, rare footage, archive the Goods…”
Ok, now to add to that – I have confirmed that the box is still being compiled but will feature only material from the band’s reunion in 2009 onwards!
It will feature (amongst other things), quote: “Live stuff from two tours, rarities, demo's etc…”
Quite frankly, this could be the best box set ever released (and the biggest!).

You can pre-order with confidence from CD Japan, who I use all the time via this link:
Meanwhile, Eric Martin’s ‘Sucker For A Pretty Face’ and ‘Somewhere In The Middle’ are all being reissued on HQCDs November 19.

OSTROGOTH To Release ‘Last Tribe Standing’ First Release Since 1987

Tuesday, December 9, 2014
Belgium’s old school metal band Ostrogoth will release ‘Last Tribe Standing’, on January 23rd 2015, both on CD and vinyl, through Belgian cult label Empire Records.
The artwork for ‘Last Tribe Standing’ was created by the talented Velio Josto.
‘Last Tribe Standing’ is the first official Ostrogoth release since 1987 and features the current line-up that has been active since their return at Germany’s Keep It True Festival, back in 2012.
At first the idea was to release a 4-track EP with new material, just like we did back in 1983 with our ‘Full Moon’s Eyes’ debut. Not a full album, just an EP with four killer songs. But a few days before we entered the studio to record the new tracks, we were listening to the tapes of some summer festival shows we had recorded earlier this year, solely for our own archives. The recordings were raw and 100% live, but the tapes sounded so good, it would’ve been a shame not to use them.
So grew the idea to release two EP’s, back to back. With the four new songs on the A-side of the vinyl version and on the B-side the four songs from the ‘Full Moon’s Eyes’ EP, in a 2014 live version, the way the current line-up plays these songs today. Old and new gathered in one.
‘Last Tribe Standing’ was produced by guitarist Dario Frodo and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Epica, Amaranthe, Evergrey, Pretty Maids)
As a tribute to the early days we also decided to reuse the original logo that was only featured on the 1983 debut.
1. No Risk Taken (5.49)
2. Clouds (4.00)
3. Retun To The Heroes Museum (4.43)
4. Last Tribe Standing (6.25)
5. Heroes Museum (Live) (4.17)
6. Full Moon’s Eyes (Live) (4.41)
7. Paris By Night (Live) (6.12)
8. Rock Fever (Live) (4.30)
(Total playing time: 40.40)
Mario ‘Grizzly’ Pauwels – Drums
Rudy ‘Whiteshark’ Vercruysse – Guitars
Dario Frodo – Guitars and backing vocals
Josey Hindrix – Lead vocals & backing vocals
Stripe – Bass & backing vocals
Next to the enthusiasm about the new CD there is unfortunately also bad news to report. Earlier this year Ostrogoth guitarist Rudy 'WhiteShark' Vercruysse was diagnosed with liver cancer. Although the situation was very serious, there was initially an estimated life expectancy of two years. WhiteShark started chemotherapy a few months ago and was able to play the summer festival shows in between the many hospital visits. WhiteShark was also present for the recordings of 'Last Tribe Standing' and everyone was looking forward to a very busy schedule for 2015. But in recent weeks the situation escalated fast, and the cancer was getting more grip on WhiteShark’s body. Last week, the doctors had to bring down drastically the earlier life expectancy of two years to "a few weeks".
On December 6th, Sharky gave everything he had to put on a great show, when Ostrogoth played a sold out Belgian headline club show, but it looks like this will have been WhiteShark’s last ever show with Ostrogoth.
All scheduled shows for 2015 will go ahead as planned. WhiteShark has recently chosen his successor himself. More details on that later.

Iconic Artist IOANNIS To Release 5 New LED ZEPPELIN Prints

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

New Prints Celebrate the Soft Cover Release of the Book HOW LED ZEPPELIN BECAME THE BIGGEST BAND IN THE WORLD
There are few album cover artists more important than the man known only as IOANNIS (STYX, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, THE ALLMAN BROTHERS).  Now, just in time for the holidays the talented artist is releasing five new LED ZEPPELIN prints.
In 2011, IOANNIS created the cover art for the book HOW LED ZEPPELIN BECAME THE BIGGEST BAND IN THE WORLD by Denny Somach and Carol Miller.  To coincide with the book’s initial release IOANNIS created five limited edition fine prints, as well as a portfolio set of his work with LED ZEPPELIN.  All have nearly sold out with only a few copies remaining.
IOANNIS also sold six of his 16 original LED ZEPPELIN paints featured in the book, including one of John Bonham, which was purchased by QUIET RIOT drummer Frankie Banali, a friend, a supporter and a rabid LED ZEPPELIN fan.   Now

, the talented artist is releasing five new limited edition LED ZEPPELIN prints to celebrate the soft-cover release of the book.
“I am releasing a second portfolio of 5 new prints to support this, for the holidays, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to cancer research, a cause close to my heart,” IOANNIS commented. “We accept all forms of payments and even offer term payment options your support it greatly appreciated.”

Spinefarm Signs STEVE 'N' SEAGULLS New Album Out In 2015

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Five nutcases. A whole bunch of instruments. The Finnish countryside. All that adds up to Steve 'N' Seagulls. This ragtag crew has been active since 2011, but they hit like a hammer in the summer of 2014, thanks to the popularity of their YouTube videos, which found them offering up S'N'S'ed versions of metal classics like Iron Maiden's "The Trooper" and AC/DC's "Thunderstruck."

The videos have earned praise and coverage from the elite of the metal world, with Guitar World, Revolver, Loudwire, Blabbermouth and Metal Sucks picking up on and writing about their efforts. 'Nuff said.

Now you have the chance to see and hear Steve 'N' Seagulls for yourself, as the band has signed to Spinefarm.

Banjo keeps a rollin' and accordion keeps on burnin'. Your quality of life will probably be greatly improved once you mindmeld with this musical experience. Hold on to your hats and skirts, kids!

Steve 'N' Seagulls are: Pukki Kaalinen on double bass and vocals; Wild Till Hiltunen on accordion, mandolin and Casio; Herman de German on banjo, guitar and vocals; Remmel on vocals, acoustic guitar and mandolin; and Puikkonen on drums, percussions and vocals.

One thing Steve 'N' Seagulls want you to know? They are not a joke act or a novelty.

"It took us about three years to get the sound we were aiming at," the band said of its origins and history. "We wanted to give a new life to songs we grew up with, not just do basic covers, and our agency provided the opportunity. Our agency needed a 'concept band' for theme events in restaurants. Now, we had been doing those kind of gigs before and knew the places to be probably half-empty. Still, it sounded like a fun project, so we took the job. After the first 20-gig tour, we wanted to keep on doing it and they kept on booking us gigs in nightclubs, pubs, cruise boats and such. After replacing our singer, we posted 'The Trooper' video on YouTube simply because we hadn't published anything with the new lineup. Then it just took off somehow. But we aren't complaining!"

Three years of touring in Finland brought the band some local attention. But it was those videos posted on YouTube that have already brought the band further acclaim than it ever imagined. "All of this started out as a much more small-scale operation, but hey, we'll take all we can get!," they said.

The band is working its first album at Studio Bad Mama, which is located at the outskirts of its hometown. The concept is a mixture of S'N'S's love for music and a celebration of childhood idols.

Despite the fun nature of the band, it's not a novelty act, with Steve 'N' Seagulls saying, "Even though we like to have fun with music we also truly take it seriously. That's why we feel that Spinefarm is just the label for us. We've been basically working on songs that we find interesting and what makes us feel good and laugh. It looks like accidentally other people found them interesting too. We're absolutely stunned to be working on our first album with Spinefarm. It's important to us that label is also all about music."

Want another taste of Steve 'N' Seagulls? Have it here, as the band offers up its take on Metallica's epic power ballad "Nothing Else Matters."

Also, check out their take on Dio's classic "Holy Diver."
Are you blown away yet?

UFO New Album 'A Conspiracy Of Stars' Track Listing Revealed

Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Tracklisting of A CONSPIRACY OF STARS revealed
Of course you don’t need to attach more importance to this piece of news than it necessarily has, but it certainly deserves to be mentioned: for the first time in more than 20 years, one of the most British rock bands in music history has recorded a studio album in their native country. Their latest offering is entitled A Conspiracy Of Stars, was cut by rock legend UFO and breathes that typically British easy-going confidence for which this band has been known for over 45 years. A strong release consisting of eleven songs which combine everything that the group surrounding frontman Phil Mogg stands for: meaty riffs, distinctive hooks, diverse songwriting, intelligent lyrics and that generally laid-back attitude which we have associated with UFO from the start. The fact that A Conspiracy Of Stars was produced and mixed by Chris Tsangarides (Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore, among others) may be considered another successful element in a thoroughly consistent release. To cut a long story short: their 22nd studio recording to date sees UFO prove that past and present can be blended in a homogeneous whole.
A Conspiracy Of Stars presents UFO’s current line-up for the first time: along with the original members, Phil Mogg (vocals), Paul Raymond (keyboards, guitar) and Andy Parker (drums), lead guitarist Vinnie Moore has been a permanent member of the group since 2003, American bassist Rob De Luca joining the fold in 2012. De Luca is not only a brilliant instrumentalist but has also contributed two of the album tracks as a songwriter. The majority of the new material was composed by Vinnie Moore, the album also featuring a song by Paul Raymond and a collaboration between Raymond and De Luca. The lyrics were penned by frontman Phil Mogg.

RICHIE KOTZEN Releases Two New Songs Ahead Of New Album Set For 2015

Tuesday, December 9, 2014
December 8, 2014 --  Fans of guitarist/singer/songwriter RICHIE KOTZEN anxious to hear new music before his next solo album (details of which are forthcoming) should head over to iTunes, where he just released two new singles, 'You' and 'Cannibals.'

'You' was co-written by RICHIE's daughter, August, who appears in the video posted on RICHIE's official YouTube page.  He explains, 'It must have been four years ago and my daughter, who is now 17, was constantly playing this piece of music on the piano.  I finally asked her what it was and she said she just made it up.   I set up the microphones and recorded her playing for about seven minutes.  Years later, I found this on my hard drive and decided to write lyrics to it over this past summer.  The end result is what you see and hear in the video.   It is one of my favorite things I've done and I'm happy to have been able to collaborate on music with my daughter.'
'Cannibals' made its debut during his recent three-month solo tour, which started in Europe, taking him through Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, and Chile, and concluding with a month-long trek of the U.S.  'I did something I've never done before on this tour,' RICHIE explains, 'which is performing an original composition that has yet to be released.  The only place you could hear the song 'Cannibals' was at the show, and it went over quite well with the fans.  Rather than wait to release the song as part of the new album next year, I figured it would be cool to share the studio version now while it's fresh in the people's minds who attended my shows.  I was able to collect live footage that was shot during the tour and compile a live video to go along with the song.'  A newly released video can be found on his official YouTube page here.
RICHIE has been touring in support of THE ESSENTIAL RICHIE KOTZEN, which was released September 2 on Loud & Proud Records.  It's a two-CD and DVD career retrospective set that encompasses this iconic talent's entire career of his most essential work:  classic material; acoustic performances; bootleg material; and two brand new songs ('War Paint' and 'Walk With Me').  The DVD features music videos, acoustic performances, and bootleg material.
Stay tuned for new RICHIE KOTZEN album news in the coming weeks.

JOE PERRY Says Merry Christmas With Solo EP

Friday, December 5, 2014

Coming off the release of his New York Times best-selling memoir, ROCKS: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith (released October 7 via Simon & Schuster), JOE PERRY has just released a four song EP: JOE PERRY’S MERRY CHRISTMAS (Unison Music Group).  PERRY’s first-ever collection of holiday songs features four Christmas classics: “White Christmas,” “Silent Night,” “Santa Claus Is Back In Town” and “Run Run Rudolph” with Johnny Depp on rhythm guitar. The EP is available now at Unison’s website or on iTunes.

“I have wanted to do a Christmas CD with Aerosmith for years, but it seems we never have the time to record one,” JOE says.  “When my ROCKS book tour ended, the timing was right--we were in LA with access to a studio with some really talented friends and it all fell together.  I was finally able to record some Christmas classics for the fans.”

With so many holiday songs out there, how did you choose these selections? And, why did you choose to record some as instrumentals and others as vocal tracks?
JP:  “The two instrumentals are among the 10 most popular Christmas songs. Almost everyone knows the lyrics to ‘Silent Night’ and ‘White Christmas,’ so we treated them as songs that people could sing along to, while staying close to the classic versions everyone knows. The two vocal songs, ‘Santa’s Back in Town’ and ‘Run Run Rudolph’ are rockers made famous by Elvis and Chuck Berry. They are probably less well known so you would have to hear the lyrics to know they are Christmas songs. They are two of my favorite holiday songs.”
What do the holidays mean to you?
JP:  “It’s a time for the family to get together and try to put the troubles of the world aside for a short while.”
Do you have any annual family holiday traditions?
JP:  “We always open a gift the night before Christmas.  Now that the kids are older, we wake up and have brunch in front of the fire while opening the traditional Christmas stockings--that were handmade by their grandmother--and have hung on the mantle for years.  We take our time opening gifts and do not rip through them, making the day last as long as possible. We usually eat appetizers Christmas Day because we normally have a big Christmas Eve dinner, although it varies from year to year. We usually end up watching Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story with our family later in the day.”
You’ve talked a lot about your upbringing in your new book ROCKS, do you have a favorite holiday memory?
JP:  “There was a time after Aerosmith got back together when we were doing almost yearly New Year’s Eve shows. One of my favorite ones was at the Orpheum right before the New Year rang in--we dragged living room furniture onto the stage and brought our wives out and celebrated with our fans.”
As co-founding member, principal songwriter, electrifying lead guitarist and co-producer of Aerosmith--America’s Greatest Rock & Roll Band--JOE PERRY has achieved permanent iconic stature in the pantheon of rock. He has helped to drive his band, over the course of four decades, to sales of more than 150 million albums, critical acclaim, four Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. PERRY's work with Aerosmith has resulted in an unending array of accolades and honors. In June 2013, PERRY was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the organization’s 44th Annual Induction and Awards Dinner. October 2014 saw the release of PERRY’s first book ROCKS: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith, which debuted on the New York Times Bestseller list at #8. Throughout the book, PERRY reflects on his career with Aerosmith and his life as a musician, husband and father.

VIRGIN STEELE New Album Titled ‘Hymns To Damnation’

Friday, December 5, 2014

VIRGIN STEELE announce that the title for the forthcoming new album will be “HYMNS TO DAMNATION”.

David DeFeis says, “The new album is a roaring collection of Metal tracks that work very well together and were recorded in a very straightforward, organic manner. It is full of passion, power, blood, fire, love, lust, death and drama”.

SPV / Steamhammer will release the new Virgin Steele studio album worldwide in March / April 2015 . This will be the first full length album with brandnew songs since "The Black Light Bacchanalia", which was released in 2010.

In the attached short interview below, David discusses the album further:

Regarding the forthcoming “HYMNS TO DAMNATION” album, with questions by Edmund Alscott

1.  Hey David, so the title of the new VIRGIN STEELE album is going to be “HYMNS TO DAMNATION”, yeah, heavy duty! Where does that title come from?

DeFeis: Thanks Edmund…well…There actually is a song on the album with that title, and even though this album is not really a concept album, recently when I took a careful look back at all the lyrics, I found that a lot of the lyrics do deal with relationship issues and all the various ways in which humans can entangle themselves, or destroy themselves…so the title essentially encompasses what the vibe of the whole Work is about. The title expresses the album in the way that the title “NOBLE SAVAGE”, or “AGE OF CONSENT”, expressed each of those particular Works. The title provides a framework and perhaps connective tissue, but each song is really its own thing. As I said it isn’t a concept album, but there is a certain kind of connection regardless.

2.  Musically what can we expect for that song as well as the whole album?

DeFeis: That particular song is definitely Barbaric-Romantic…it is full of pathos, and has both the tender dark side of what we do, along with that over the top bombastic heaviness that we are about. And…well… to go along with the kinds of lyrics I just mentioned, the music is definitely heavy… dark… at times melancholy, and also aggressive or angry sounding, and alternately raw and grandiose. The overarching theme that comes to mind when I think about the album or listen to it is passion…raw passion. There are big monolithic riffs, moody chord changes, “classical” type bits, it retains the VIRGIN STEELE signature, but it adds new dimensions to it.

3.  Lyrically is it a completely negative trip?

DeFeis: No not at all, there are tracks that celebrate life and lust and the beauty of the full experience of what one goes through in their time on the planet. It is empowering and it also has a sense of humor. The lyrics should make you think a bit…I hope. And as regards what I just said a moment ago about relationships, the album mainly concerns connections, connections between all sorts of beings and by that I don’t only mean worldly human beings…but also Gods & Goddesses, Spirits, Elements, or whatever, plus various creatures, animal, vegetable and or mineral, but largely it is about connections between people. People and their belief systems, people and their Gods or Goddesses…people and their life philosophies and also the various substances we invest or inject into our daily or nightly rituals and our worldview, and all the complexities of what drives us, makes us who we are and takes us where we may…or may not be going.

4.  That sounds epic! Awhile back I know you had mentioned another song recorded for the album called LUCIFER’S HAMMER. What is that one like?

DeFeis: Well…it is not necessarily about Lucifer, or hammers!  It is a really aggressive song that opens the album, and starts everything off in high gear. It is both raw and “classical” sounding at the same time. It’s very high energy, very kick-ass!

5.  Well then what do the lyrics for that song concern?

DeFeis: It can be viewed from several different angles, as that is a feature of how I write songs, but you my friend would probably say that it is about drugs…

6. Pro or con?

DeFeis: That would depend on one’s own perspective and proclivities.

7.  Do you have anything else planned for 2015?

DeFeis: Yes about 7 months after the new album comes out, we will finally issue the box-set that I discussed a whole lot over the past year.

8. What will be in that box-set?

DeFeis: It will contain the re-issues of both THE BOOK OF BURNING, and HYMNS TO VICTORY, and finally the bonus new Work, “GHOST HARVEST” (The Spectral Vintage Sessions).  We hope to have that package out in October. It has already been discussed between the label and I and it is a go. That “Ghost Harvest” bonus album has new material, plus re-written and re-arranged covers of various things we like or rehearse from time to time.

9. Great! I am looking forward to the new HYMNS TO DAMNATION album and then later the box-set. In all the re-issues you did over the past two years you managed to put in tons of bonus material, and the recently re-issued INVICTUS CD has an almost 60 minute bonus album called FIRE SPIRITS, featuring acoustic versions of some VIRGIN STEELE classics, as well as some new material. How do you manage to make all that come together?

DeFeis: I am glad you noticed. Not everyone does. Yes we have tried to make each re-issue as special as we can, and we have gone out of our way to add as much as possible. That particular FIRE SPIRITS album came about because I wanted to add something that was intense but unlike the actual INVICTUS album…and we began recording live and really liking what we were hearing back, so we thought why not…Those tracks have the intensity of the full band and the listener can get a sense of the interplay between the voice and the instruments, and also a sense of the ingredients of the songs…what makes them tick. We are always working, so there is always material, and I am happy to unleash it in whatever form it takes…hence…all these extra tracks on the re-issues.

10.If you look at all you have released with the extra stuff on the re-issues, you probably already put a couple of new albums out! Getting back to HYMNS TO DAMNATION, how long is that album going to be?

DeFeis: Yeah…thanks again for noticing that Edmund, I really appreciate it. As regards the HYMNS TO DAMNATION album I am not quite sure yet as we are still deciding on which tracks will ultimately end up being included on there. It will be fairly long, but probably not necessarily 80 minutes. We shall see. Check back with me in a few weeks.

11. OK. And a last question David about the studio methods. I know you mentioned that you went back to some earlier styles of recording. What did you mean by that?

DeFeis: I meant that we started using some of the original analog gear that we used to use, and we even did some things on analog tape. I think it has made the album as I said earlier…more natural or organic sounding. It has that classic “we recorded it live in a large room” kind of sound that we really like. It has been nice to approach the album this way, and we think that it really suits the material.

Killer! Thanks very much for the chat David I can’t wait to get my hands on a finished copy.

DeFeis: Cheers Edmund and thanks a million for all your Noble support!

EUROPE To Release ‘War Of Kings’ On UDR Records In March

Monday, March 2, 2015

Swedish rock legends will also embark on UK tour with Black Star Riders to celebrate their 10th studio album

Swedish rock legends Europe will release their 10th album, "War of Kings", in March 2015 on UDR Records. Recorded at the brand new PanGaia Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, produced by Dave Cobb (Rival Sons) and engineered by John Netti, War of Kings sees the classic rocking quintet confidently creating 11 monsterously melodic, yet hard-hitting, classic rock’n’roll standouts for their fervent global audience. War of Kings will be available in multiple formats, as a CD digipak, a CD jewel case, a vinyl LP and in digital download format. The album will be released in the UK on March 2nd, Japan on March 4th (via JVC), the EU on March 6th and the US on March 10th.

Joey Tempest: “War Of Kings is the album we always wanted to make, ever since we were kids listening to bands like Zeppelin, Purple and Sabbath.
And after hearing Dave Cobb amazing production for Rival Sons we simply had to work with him. Our adventure is still ON!”

Europe’s place as a legendary classic rock band was platinum-stamped early in their career, having enjoyed an explosive period of worldwide success in the ‘80s, under-pinned by their hit album and single The Final Countdown, before going on hiatus between 1992 and 2003. They re-united and quickly settled into a period of re-establishment which has seen them re-enforce their reputation worldwide as one of the premier purveyors of blues-tinged classic rock with an edge and some kick. Their last album, 2012’s Bag of Bones, saw Europe hit the UK top 40 rock album charts and debut at #2 on the Swedish national charts, and War of Kings is set to take full advantage of the global groundwork Europe have put in over the last few years.

Joey adds “Hey! We took the long road! but we wanted to re-establish Europe the proper way. It’s taken 10 years and countless tours since the re-union, but we’re finally getting there! And we’ve done it our way!”

Europe will commence their roadwork supporting War of Kings with a UK/Ireland tour in Dublin on March 2nd (their first visit to Ireland in 25 years) before continuing in the UK with Black Star Riders.

Joey - “Looking forward to ‘tons’ of touring in 2015!
It’s getting harder and harder to be modest and humble about this band! It doesn’t get much better than this!”

Check Out 'Chasing MR. BIG' Animated Tour Opener Video

Thursday, December 4, 2014
You have to check out this awesome animated short that was created by David Calcano for MR. BIG and their recent tour.

David used to be a Systems Engineer, until he went nuts and dropped his career to start a small animation ad agency called NoseCode in the United Kingdom. Today, he works in Los Angeles, where he creates animated content, using 2D and 3D animation. He’s the man behind Fantoons, a comic strip and animated series about the craziness of the greatest rock n’ roll bands and their fans. David’s latest comic book compiles more than 100 rock n’ roll parodies from the likes of Rush, Kiss, Metallica, etc… getting rave reviews from industry luminaries like Tone Rodriguez (KISS comics, Simpsons comics and many more!); but more importantly, receiving a ton of love from rock and prog fans from all over the world (Almost 40K Facebook Fans!). Fantoons is specially popular amongst Rush fans… one of David’s favorite bands! There’s nothing cooler than making fellow fans smile.
You can find all about fantoons at: & including a store to buy our book and funny prints.
Mr. Big’s involvement…
In a fairy tale type story, David approached Mr. Big with his Fantoons project, including a story to feature the band in one of his animated episodes, to his surprise the band loved it and invited him to spend time backstage! He got to meet the band, and after about two years, he got a call to create visuals for their current 2014 tour in Japan! They hired us to produce six pieces for the tour using all kinds of animation styles, from retro-video games to animating Paul Gilbert’s drawings! We got to work with the band during production with was a fantastic experience. Coincidentally Fantoons’ Mr. Big animated short was ready at this point after working with an unbelievable team of artists. The short ended up opening the shows for their 2014 ‘Stories we could tell’ Japan tour! In David’s own words “I still cannot believe this” He got to see one of his all-time favorite bands play at the legendary Budokan, with the opening act being his animated short. The single greatest moment in his career… and a dream come true for any rock fan.
Like I said, a fairy tale type story, but this one… is full of rock n’ roll.
Do you want to know more? Ok…
Fantoons - the animated series - has earned more than forty film festival nominations around the world, including screenings at San Diego Comic Con and winning the best animation short at London’s Portobello Film Festival, the largest independent film festival in the world. Every episode is produced in full 2D animation. David’s vision is to bring back that cartoon style into fashion. His influences go from John K’s Ren & Stimpy to Hanna-Barbera, Go Nagai, Loonie Tunes and Walt Disney animation.
