SHIRAZ LANE Debut 'For Crying Out Loud' Arrives April 15

Frontiers Music Srl is proud to present the debut album from SHIRAZ LANE, entitled “For Crying Out Loud”, which will be released on April 15, 2016.
Formed in 2011, Shiraz Lane is a young, energetic, ambitious, authentic hard rock group from Vantaa, Finland. Although wearing inspiration from big masters like Aerosmith, SKID ROW and Guns N' Roses on their sleeves, the band has a sound and style all their own. Members of some of the biggest bands in Scandinavia - The 69 Eyes, Amorphis, Children Of Bodom, Lordi and Sonic Syndicate Official among others - have all described Shiraz Lane as being one of the most entertaining bands they have ever seen in the underground music scene, bringing something new to the table in terms of both music and live performance! Notwithstanding their young age (the band members are all in their 20’s), the guys are already veterans of the underground circuit in their homeland and have developed a reputation for being uncompromising, loud and genuine.
“We started working on our debut album in mid-August 2015 after receiving confirmation about details and deadlines from Frontiers Music Srl” says guitarist Miki Kalske. “We were actually extremely busy at the time since we did an extensive Finnish tour in September, so the Shiraz factory was working pretty much around the clock. In retrospect it was good to have a tight agenda, since the songs came out very naturally and with a steady pace. After we felt confident enough with the songs, we joined forces with our producer Ben Varon and analyzed them meticulously, re-arranged parts, rehearsed, re-rehearsed etc. Before hitting the studio to lay down the final tracks.”
On the final result, “For Crying Out Loud”, the band shows they have learned all the tricks in the book and they’re now ready to take on the world.
“The album is not conceptual, but it is definitely a tight knitted package so that every song has its own natural place in the running order” continues Kalske. “All in all the record turned out to be an ass-kicking Hard Rock gem with a large scope of different emotions and feelings included. Variety would be a good key word to describe the album throughout, although bowing down to our own sound and style. An important notion would be to listen to the lyrics and message we are trying to send to the listeners out there – we don't wan't to preach, but if our music can act as an eye-opener on some level and send positive vibrations out to the world during these darker times, I would say we have done something right!”
Shiraz Lane debuted with a two song single release, "Out There Somewhere" and "Money Talks" in October 2014. The band expanded upon those two tracks to release a five track EP, "Be The Slave Or Be The Change" in the spring of 2015. It was extremely well received by both the public and the press in Scandinavia and the single ''Mental Slavery'' could even be described as an underground hit. Following the EP release, the band has put out four music videos, played the biggest Finnish summer festivals and also performed in places like Toronto, Canada, Finland Fest in Tokyo Japan and Wacken Open Air in Germany. In the autumn of 2015, Shiraz Lane did an extensive national tour supporting fellow countrymen Santa Cruz. Although music is not a matter of competition, it should be mentioned the band won the Hard Rock Rising 2014 and Wacken Metal Battle 2015. The hype culminated with an international record deal with Frontiers Music Srl, which was signed and sealed in September.
“We have grown to fill the boots of the endangered Dinosaurus of Rock and continue the legacy of authentic, rocking and meaningful music” concludes Miki Kalske. “We are thrilled to let you guys experience a full-length insight in our musical minds and assure that this is going to be the best possible news for the fans out there after a heartsick and grieving turn of the year. Heads up and play this record loud and proud – we certainly will!”
“For Crying Out Loud” tracklisting includes: Wake Up; Momma's Boy; House Of Cards; Begging For Mercy; Same Ol' Blues; Mental Slavery; Behind The 8-Ball; For Crying Out Loud; Bleeding; M.L.N.W. - Kill Me (With Your Love) (Bonus track digital version)

RUSH Deliver Hard Rock Masterpiece 35 Years Ago Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, Neil Peart Direct 'Moving Pictures'

Dallas, TX - Feb 3, 2016.  North American syndicated Rock radio show and website InTheStudio: The Stories Behind Historys Greatest Rock Bands rolls out the red carpet for the thirty-fifth anniversary of RUSH's most successful album, Moving Pictures.

Sales alone do not convey the importance of their eighth studio album Moving Pictures to Rushs long career, nor to rock music itself. Music was changing, Rush lead singer/composer Geddy Lee tells us in this InTheStudio episode, and without Lee, guitarist/composer Alex Lifeson and drummer/lyricist Neil Peart embracing the fresh musical ideas in the crosswinds of the early Eighties with songs Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, Limelight, Vital Signs and Witch Hunt, it is doubtful that a path to mainstream success would have been cleared for later major bands including Metallica, Queensryche, Smashing Pumpkins Billy Corgan, Dave Grohls Foo Fighters, Tom Morello with Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, and Dream Theater.

InTheStudio host Redbeard speaks to Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart about the significance of Moving Pictures to the Rush legacy.
It (Moving Pictures) gave us a kind of acceptance and credibility that none of our previous records had previously done. - Geddy Lee

It was very enjoyable making Moving Pictures. It flowed, everything sounded good. The vibe was good, everybody was in great spirits during the whole process. - Alex Lifeson

Being a trio is something that is special to us and I think its special to our fans too... We are known as a trio. Our reputation has a lot to do with our live show and what the three of us can do live. -  Neil Peart

Double Stop Podcast - TOM SIZE

In Episode 89 of The Double Stop, Brian is joined by Recording Engineer/Mixer Tom Size. He discusses his path into production and covers some of his key projects such as Aerosmith's Done With Mirrors, Sammy Hagar's VOA, David Lee Roth's Eat 'Em and Smile, and the numerous cd's he's worked on for Mr. Big - including solo albums by Eric Martin and Paul Gilbert. He also discusses the new live DVD's by Eric Martin and Mr. Big.

On his name being left off Aerosmith's "A Little South Of Sanity" 18:45 "I was on tour with them for about two years doing live recording and live broadcasts. And recorded a lot of "South Of Insanity", but you won't see my name on the record. You won't see my name on the record for i guess legal reasons. The producer that they hired, they didn't want to pay him and I was part of his team. He was someone that I'd done a bunch of records with - Kevin Elson. And they, for whatever reason, didn't want to pay him or something, you know, legal stuff that I didn't quite understand. But anyway, you won't see my name on that record, but I recorded most of those tracks."

On his early relationship with Eric Martin (Mr. Big) 52:30 "On that record (1989's self-titles debut) we kind of bumped heads a little bit. On the end of (Addicted To That Rush) he says 'One of these days, pow, right in the kisser" - he's talking to me. I just pushed his buttons. Eric and I work together all the time now and we laugh about it."

On the upcoming live Mr. Big DVD 53:08 "We did another live from the Budokan DVD that should be out soon. It's an awesome show - the production is just off the hook. I finished it up last year. It's with Matt Starr playing drums, and Pat was sitting in on a couple of tunes, and singing harmonies. "

STAR CHASE Make Their Debut on MelodicRock Records Feb 26

In keeping with MelodicRock Records’ commitment to supporting new talent, the label is proud to announce the signing of another great new artist and their debut album – this time it’s from Melbourne melodic rockers STAR CHASE.
Star Chase is a new 5 piece melodic rock band featuring a very familiar name on lead vocals/guitars – Jason Old from The Radio Sun (and previously Safire, Square one, Someone Elses Life).
Joining Jason in Star Chase are:
Steve Martret - lead guitars/vocals (Safire); Gilbert Annese - drums (Square One,Someone Elses Life); Aaron Suter - keyboards/vocals (Safire); and Anthony Wong - bass/vocals (Someone Elses Life)
After the 15th anniversary of the original Safire EP, Steve and Jase began writing together initially for fun, with no other plan other than to write as many songs as they could. This eventually led to having over 20 songs written in a few months. After putting the band together it was clear there was a chemistry so the next step was to record an album with no real expectation. The resulting, The new day is collection of 11 rocking tunes for fans of “two guitar & keyboard“ rock with huge harmonies.
This band has their own unique sound. The New Day is an album that will delight fans of Jason and The Radio Sun, but also fans of classic feel good melodic rock, Australian style AOR and songswith big hooks and even bigger harmonies.
Star Chase’s debut album will be released via MRR on February 26.

INTUITIVE Make Their Debut on MelodicRock Records February 26

MelodicRock Records continues its strong affinity with exotic artists, quality melodic hard rock and fostering new artists that deserve exposure alongside the icons of the business.
One artist that fits all three of the above criteria is Portugese rockers INTUITIVE.
MRR will release Intuitive’s debut album ‘Reset’ on February 26.
GET IT FIRST! PRE-ORDER INTUITIVE 'Reset' $15 (+$5 shipping)
MRR DOUBLE DEAL - INTUITIVE and STAR CHASE for $30 (and still only pay $5 shipping)
Intuitive is the brainchild of ex-Faithfull guitarist Rui Martins. After the end of Faithfull - a project that reached the charts in Japan with its two albums - guitarist and songwriter Rui Martins continued to compose music while playing live with his cover band Roadies, a band with 21 years in the business.
It’s in the midst of the Roadies family that Martins meets Alexandre “Xano” Fernandes, their former singer and also ex-Winesnake (Whitesnake tribute band). Owner of a deep voice and great stage presence, Alexandre Fernandes is the right choice to handle the vocal duties. For the bass spot, Martins invites his longtime friend and ex-Faithfull band mate, Mário Barbosa.
João Colaço (ex-Rage of Angels), one of the most sought-off session drummers in Portugal, completes the quartet.
And so Intuitive is born - with no score to settle with the past and with their eyes set on the future. Melodic and powerful hard rock with a positive attitude is the soundtrack for this journey.
The story is yet to be written, but Intuitive will try to write it with passion. With enthusiasm and humility, the band is ready to showcase the music in all corners of the world, and is thrilled to join the ranks of MelodicRock Records with this first release. Called ‘Reset’, it represents that fresh new start that we all, sometimes, seem to need and that the world so urgently desires.
Intuitive‘s debut ‘Reset‘ will be released via MRR on February 26.
Pre-orders available this week. But first - two FULL LENGTH preview tracks!

NIGHT RANGER Back in the Studio

The music keeps on coming for 2016 - now NIGHT RANGER have confirmed they are back in the studio...

DYNAZTY Back With a 'Titanic Mass' April 15

At long last, DYNAZTY will release their fifth album Titanic Mass on April 15 via Spinefarm Records. Hailing from the musically lively mecca that is Stockholm, Sweden, Dynazty are a prime example of forward-thinking and evolutionary sound development.
It was with the Spinefarm-released album Renatus (2013) where Dynazty truly came to their own.
Opting for a sound more modern, more defined, and more addictive, Renatus saw the band take a leap towards a tighter sound with an arsenal of rapid rhythm patters and machine-gun riffs, ever-present soaring vocals plus huge, addictive choruses. Thanks to its massive arrangements, Renatus was an exceptional album.
Now, Titanic Mass sees the Swedes take the next logical step in the never-ending flux that is their sound.
This time, they chose to maintain the overall bite and tightness of Renatus while taking a courteous nod in the direction of power metal and adding a symphonic element; yes, the arrangements are "Titanic" this time! The band has succeeded in making the songs yet another notch more addictive than before.
The edgy yet massive production of Peter Tägtgren (Sabaton, Pain, Dimmu Borgir etc, ad infinitum) elevates Titanic Mass to Dynazty's ultimate statement to date.
"Titanic Mass is the culmination of all the knowledge we've learned and all the experience we've gained over the years writing songs and making albums. Our efforts combined with the mastery of producer Peter Tägtgren has resulted in an album that we feel is really strong. To us, Titanic Mass is without a doubt our ultimate effort."

 2. Untamer of Your Soul
 3. Roar of the Underdog
 4. Titanic Mass
 5. Keys to Paradise
 6. I Want to Live Forever
 7. The Beast Inside

RICK SPRINGFIELD Premiere's New Song 'Miss Mayhem'

"Tad Kubler is an Indie artist and he has a band called The Hold Steady, which is very popular with the kids. He lives in Brooklyn and has guitars, recording equipment, and a desire to write with me, so off I go to Brooklyn, harboring unrealistic dreams of maybe becoming a respected and legitimate Indie artist. Writing with someone new is always a scary and potentially embarrassing proposition. (Case in point: the Todd Rundgren story I tell in my Stripped Down Solo Show. BUT I LOVE Todd. So it’s all good!)
"Anyway, we hook up (Tad, not Todd, and I) and go at it.  I’ve never met Tad before, and it’s a weird thing getting together with a stranger and proceeding to try to create a little magic and wizardry in the nebulous arena of songwriting. It’s all so hit-and-miss—the creative writing thing. No writer really understands where the music comes from (unless it's subconscious plagiarism of an old Beatles or Rolling Stones tune.) You just pick up an instrument, face each other and hope for the best.
"Well fortunately for both Tad and me, Tad came up with a cool guitar line that I put some chords behind, we recorded it and I left Brooklyn with some potential Indie credibility and a good riff that eventually found its way into the chorus of a song Matt Bissonette and I wrote called 'Miss Mayhem' (*Actually, not an Indie-sounding song in the slightest.)

"'Mayhem' was going to be the original title of this album/CD/free-download. (But if you download it for free you won’t be able to read all these stunning literary gems. Wait, but if you did download it for free you wouldn’t know you were missing them so that kind of negates the whole ‘Ha ha, you suck for stealing my music’ thing. Okay, never mind.) Anyway, I thought the title 'Mayhem' made the album sound like it might be by some thrash metal band instead of a one-dimensional pop star/soap opera geek. And I do so prize my one-dimensional pop star/soap opera geek status.
"So, 'Miss Mayhem.' Yes we have all met her/him at some point in our romantic past. A burning hot, amazing-in-bed, beautiful/handsome, f**king whack-job!! Aren’t they the BEST!!! I brought my Dobro guitar (an old bluesy instrument) to Matt's house one day and started playing this riff and Matt yelled, 'Yes, yes, keep playing that!' And before I could say 'Keep playing what?' we had a song.  And we called her 'Miss Mayhem.' Enjoy. It has occasional elements of an Indie/thrash metal tune."
